you anti-tooie morons are such fricking little b***hes
HURR OH NO IM DEPRESSED MY USELESS npc CHARACTER ILL NEVER GET OVER HIM
even though jamjars is way fricking cooler
try listening to glitter gulch you absolute baby, as if proceeding your cheery happy game with a wonderous epic star wars tone is the worst thing in the world. Did that movie also make you kazooie kids cry
I mean I played it recently and just didn't like how empty and dead everything seemed. You run through that village for the tiny people and every house is empty, then huge hallways, then dead ends and backtracking
As someone who is playing both on Retroarch, Banjo wins on the music, variety, humor, characters, abilities and non-linearity front. Rayman 2 might be a bit more polished on the micro level but that's kinda it
>Retroarch
lmao go play banjo on real hardware >Banjo wins on the music, variety, humor, characters, abilities and non-linearity front
no, rayman 2 mogs the shit out of banjo, hows this
supposed to be better than this
rayman has top tier music that fits with the environment and the music changes and progresses in real time.
the art style is really good and nothing seems
"out of place", the textures and lightning are really good, theres a lot of minigames and other stuffs, like in one level you'll be riding a rocket plane and in another level you'll be driving a big ass ship.
>no, rayman 2 mogs the shit out of banjo, hows this supposed to be better than this
Even in this cherrypicked comparison the Banjo music is better with a more unique use of instruments and the simpler, more memorable melody, proper to a video game

Well everyone disagrees with you, it's one of the most beloved games of all time, one of the most cited reasons is the music, Banjo's soundtrack has like 4 million clicks on Youtube while Rayman 2's has like 300k and the Rayman 2 composer is a literally who:
https://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,30468/
>Tooie music when talking about Kazooie >like in one level you'll be riding a rocket plane and in another level you'll be driving a big ass ship. >thinking this jack of all trades shit is a good thing and not just revealing a lack of trust in your core game and a desperate attempt to fill it with something and attract as many people as possible
Every fricking non-Mario platformer in the world does that and it always sucks and just feels like an unnecessary one-off digression with no reason to call up more than your bare minimum for because it's over in a minute so why even git gud at it? Psychonauts, Ratched and Clank, some Spyro games, etc. This is literally why licensed shit like Toy Story 2 is so popular against all odds, mediocre it may be, it doesn't do this
No idea how people even put up with all the trite repeatathon shit in this game anyway
?t=1444 >have to mindlessly pick up a barrel and slowly walk in a straight line to carry it somewhere >then for some reason have to do the same thing without any alterationf five times
People like you and that awful frog game are the reason Euro games have a bad rep. Stop posting and frick off

lmao y u so mad, go play rayman 2 on dc or btfo zoomie
As an italian, Gekido: Urban Fighters has to be the most prideful game out there considering that these italian devs managed to make a decent Street of Rage clone out of a very tight budget.
Unless there are other italian-made /vr/ games that i don't know of that are just as good or better than it.
You do seem a bit insecure about your own opinion when you randomly shit on another good game instead of just saying you like Rayman 2 and why. Feels like you are piggybacking Banjo because you know it's better. Kinda like how Mega Man Legends gays piggyback Zelda
>You do seem a bit insecure about your own opinion
not insecure I'm just saying that the mu mor cliks is a shitty argument >randomly shit on another good
I just think is better than overrated-kazooie > you know it's better
lol, that game looks like shit compared to rayman 2 what are you saying
>lol, that game looks like shit compared to rayman 2 what are you saying
Why are you trying so hard to sound like a zoomer? It doesn't piss anyone off, people just stop taking you seriously and ignor eyou. You're probably 30. Act your age
collision sucks, you can't jump on shit, cant smack shit, cant interact with shit, enemy movenement, animation and ai is laughably insulting and everything looks like ass, but it has neat ideas that beg for a 3d remake. It's okay for what it is
>all rare's games play and look like they're american games.
That's because in Europe we mostly consume American entertainment, so when Yuro's make entertainment they're heavily influenced by America.
>But why?
Because that anon is kinda full of shit and that remark mostly applies to video games. And one of the big reasons for that is that there weren't any european actor when it comes to hardware. The closest there have been were electronics company making computers in the DOS era and a bunch of them were just locally built versions of licensed american templates. That's mostly because it's hard to grow large enough to cover all the necessary R&D when your potential market is a lot smaller than that of the US or when you aren't massively subsidized the way japanese electronics companies were. So no one was large enough to produce much. Amstrad and Sinclair tried but that alone wasn't enough to create an ecosystem distinct and large enough in Europe. It doesn't help that consumer technological lag was very real in plenty of places in Europe : a lot of local electronics companies were slow to adopt new formats and importing was too pricey for many. So if you lived in Italy, Portugal, Spain, parts of France or Germany in the 90s, you'd be mostly surrounded by 80s tech. In the 2000s, the Eurozone ended up making importing much easier too.
That mostly leaves devs. Some have pretty actively tried to make somewhat distinctive types of games. Think Quantum Games or Eric Chahi's games with an emphasis on narrative and stripped-down gameplay. There is also a whole scene of computer devs in eastern Europe, which was especially active in the years after the fall of the USSR when the markets there opened and your average Ivan could get a computer that isn't an east-german Robotron piece of shit.
tl;dr : >pre-Eurozone disparate market made it impossible for local tech to grow in a unique way, no one was big enough to do unique hardware (save for maybe Sinclair or the Minitel project) >tech penetration among consumers took forever >the devs that try to grow unique local stuff usually end up with bombs or pretty niche success
There used to be totally distinct videogame design cultures from European countries, but they were killed by globalism. Games became so expensive to make that to recoup their costs they had to be designed to appeal to the common denominator, which thanks to American global hegemony ends up being for some loathesome Californian caricature.
This is why modern culture is so terminally boring. The nips are hanging on, but the cost of doing business means eventually they will have cultural regime change forced on them too.
Pic related, a game so good Americans kept trying to kill the fricking thing to the point it had to be made in secret.
>10/10 Euro games
I'm quite fond of Bits Studios' Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six (1992/NES) based on the comic book story arc of the same name, which was published in The Amazing Spider-Man from issues #334 to #339, though it's loosely based really, even if the instruction manual does attempt at drawing more parallels between them. Of course it's not exactly fondly remembered, even if it's the only NES Spider-Man video game, but I grew up with it and I'm biased, I'll admit it right now... controls aren't all that good, and it does feel somewhat generic, with Spider-Man's powers being underused, also suffers from level design dropping significantly in quality after you're done with the first 3 levels. Still, it plays fine, has a grim and involving atmosphere thanks to both the graphics and OST, it's satisfying to see enemies explode when defeated, especially with satisfying SFX... and level desing in the first 3 levels is interesting to navigate, fun to play.
10 euros seems pretty cheap for a video game
Especially in this economy.
wat
Kazooie's music is pure magic. Is Tooie on the same level?
yes
Too depressive and the game isn't nearly as tight as the original

A bunch of early Rare games to be honest

rayman is really the best 3d platformer
and I hope ur playing the dc version
>comparing the file select theme of the second game to one of Rayman 2's better stages
I just picked random
That's like if I picked random and grabbed a song from the GBA version of like, Rayman Raving Rabbids.
It's not a fair comparison
And you expect someone to take you serious?

So does banjo
Always liked this track though. Had rayman 2 on PC damn good game. I think the other versions are a little different

Ironic coming from a rayman fan
Eurocom games. Picrel was my favorite shitty licensed game when I was a kid. Peak comfy.
>Hogs of War is British
There might be more European retro games than NA retro games I really like
This is very underrated. The best western game imho
great game
medievil
wipeout
destruction derby
>completely fricking mogs, rapes & gapes banjoke
>poopoo funy
No
>here's an equally cringe and gay game to disprove your point, poophead
rare problem, dog's life is a better game
I hope this isn't becoming a flavor of the month game. It was a really fun little adventure game.
Kula world
Commandos 2
blade of darkness
tomb raider
Radikal Bikers
PC Fútbol 5.0
Clive Barker's Jericho
Gekido
As an italian, Gekido: Urban Fighters has to be the most prideful game out there considering that these italian devs managed to make a decent Street of Rage clone out of a very tight budget.

For me Gekido was a mix between fighting force and street of rage.

rayman 2 is better, now let it go
I respect your opinion
>man childs
And more forced zoomer talk. It's so weird
Is Grunty's Revenge any good? I started it and couldn't get into it. I'll try again soon.
it's fine for a gba 3d platformer, the minigames are annoying though.
Look up who developed it maybe
It's a decent portable Banj. Better than GBA Spyro games
collision sucks, you can't jump on shit, cant smack shit, cant interact with shit, enemy movenement, animation and ai is laughably insulting and everything looks like ass, but it has neat ideas that beg for a 3d remake. It's okay for what it is

Rare is the only european company who has ever made good games
Good means fun and high-quality, anon, not boring and gay like you're defining it.
They aren't even the best posted ITT
Pysgnosis put out the Lemmings series and the Lomax platformer spinoff.
all rare's games play and look like they're american games. they're even only nintendos
>all rare's games play and look like they're american games.
That's because in Europe we mostly consume American entertainment, so when Yuro's make entertainment they're heavily influenced by America.
But why? Don't you have your own cultures? Japan doesn't copy America, despite being occupied.

I hate Rare, never liked their games
After all these years I must say probably my favorite campaign shooter with Half Life 2
(2007 and directX 9)
