1200 attempts, been trying since monday. Miyazaki has finally done it and made a game that's actually hard. I've overall thought all of his games before have been pretty on the easy side (I can beat Sekiro pretty consistently without dying and quick enough that I can beat it multiple times in 1 day) but this is possibly the hardest shit I've ever done.

Been a while since I had to give up on a videogame because of difficulty.

This is a phenomenon that trends with good gamers tho. Most of my characters throughout all souls games were female and I'm a big pvp guy too. Look at other good pvp players most play female. You see the same shit in stuff like WoW, high level pvpers play like female human rogues and paladins and shit. We don't self insert all the time like you do

I'll use spirit ashes if the game actively acknowledges me using them and either punishes me by locking me out of content/giving me a bad ending or if bosses use specific moves they can only activate when there's a spirit ash. To me they feel like a direct difficulty decrease without player input. I don't have the stats to use magic sadly.

I think a good concession would be spirit ashes halving your available estus on activiation. They'd still be insanely overpowered but at least there would be some downside.

        [...]
What attacks are jumpable besides the tremors at the end of his long string/the stomp? The attack I struggle with the most is the meteor one in phase 1, I cannot get the timing to dodge every single ball down.

Those golems can be killed by hitting them in the face. You don't need a furnace pot.

You really never will beat the game.

Here's what I consider cheap and non-negotiable: Let's say I summon the mimic tear or whatever, I fight Radahn, I frick up and get hit by an attack that knocks me down. I know have to either dodge or die because I cannot sip without risking dying since he has oki. Except he aggros my mimic tear who was hitting him while I'm on the floor allowing me to get up and heal. There is no defending that, it literally just makes the game easier by removing decision making and tight situations. Before someone mentions "but he doesn't always target the summon" or whatever, I don't care, if it happens once in a fight it's already sullied.

        [...]
I have to throw and aim a furnace pot.

Why even use estus then? There's literally no downside because every boss can be dodged, and has an opening where you can be guaranteed to use it. Isn't it op that you can just gain back more health than you even entered the boss room with? Why upgrade weapons, why use ashes of war? etc.

To dodge the meteors reliably, run a bit away and to the right, if you go right at them they get staggered a little and will hit you through rolls as they pile up, but if you run away they pile up better, followed by a roll at the end to get you through.

            is this guy staggerable?

Yes, you need to keep up constant aggression however as downtime will drain the stagger bar.

That's how demon's souls was initially made. We only said "prepare to die" in demon's souls to newbies to tell them the game doesn't handhold you and to not get frustrated if you die, then buildgays infested the game getting obsessed about PVP and invasions.
By the time Dark Souls 1 release, all newbies were taught they need to plan a build and stick to it.
So new players did that. "I will try faith" and then stick rigidly to that and complain how hard the game is because they won't go over an arbitrary level cap or pick up a side-arm like a bow and poison arrows when they're overwhelmed.
And from the complaints and screaming about difficulty, elitistic morons showed up looking to gloat about how good they are at videogames.
"This is easy, that is easy, everything is easy." If something was truly easy, it wouldn't need saying. Nobody brags about how easy minecraft and pokemon are.
The thing about early souls game is, they can be mastered. And once you get the intended strategy, and you don't forget it, that thing that was once hard during a learning process is now easy. It doesn't make the game easy to begin with.
But that wasn't good enough for the tryhards. FROM catered to them, progressively making things harder and harder to the detriment of sense or reasonability.
          Now we have Radahn.

      >he drops a physik tear that gives you Sekiro style blocking
No it doesn't. It only works on the first block and blocking animations take time, far too long to consecutively block a string of swings. You either hold the block button (making the physik useless against everything after the first hit) or you try and keep tapping to block consecutive hits and eat shit and get combo'd between block animations.

        Anonymous

It's a hell of a lot more useful than you think. There's plenty of time between his attack strings to let go of the block button and then press it again. It seriously kept me alive against that fight because it was reducing the stamina damage down enough that I could block the entire string.

The DLC is fricking phenomenal. Amazing visuals, great loot, spectacular level design with tons of verticality and layered areas making exploration fun.
Enemy placement is pretty funny, around literally every single corner is an ambush guy waiting for you to run out. All corners.
Enemy variety kinda sucks but that's fine, there's some new enemies.
Bosses are mostly shit. There's a few good ones like the Scudtree avatar but most of them are "le epic hard" nonstop infinite stamina combo psychos. Most of them bumrush you at the entrance so you have no time to summon spirits too.

Bosses dealing with multiple targets just aren't fun to fight
The erratic target switching means dodging movesets is annoying as frick and the free posture damage means the bosses spend half the time kneeling
There is nothing elitist about refusing to use a feature that worsens the experience, and only an absolute wiener gobbler would assume that just because Miyazaki put something in his videogame, it's the universally optimal way to experience it

I literally beat him faster than I beat Rellana. I just used that weapon art that heals you so the fight would go faster due to not needing to heal every little bit of chip.

Summoning ashes don't make the bosses easier than using heavy weapon jump attacks and fromnigs don't moan about them for some reason

The first part is fun; prime gravity-mage blender Radahn.
Miquella's laser spam turns it into a shitshow.

      Anonymous

I think Radahn is close to bullshit UNLESS you get a good pattern. Like it's staggering how much easier or difficult he gets depending on the moves he throws at you.

I was watching this and thought huh that's pretty impressive before I clicked, then I watched the video and he uses Lion's Claw like 9 times in phase 2 and doesn't use any of the truly dogshit delayed laser attacks.

It's bullshit, hard to even see what's happening and unless you are turtling you'll probably get annihilated by every new move he does. I actually died more to Malenia overall but to be fair I didn't have my Sekiro deflect when I fought her.

You can cure the grab infliction by using the broken Miquella rune you get from beating the sunflower, it's a non threat at that point

Phase 1 is honestly nothing, its like Fume Knight on crack which is hard but phase 1 is over in like 30% health so its not a big deal.
Phase 2 is probably justified in being called bullshit but I think that's some pussy behavior to call it that

Every fricking boss of the dlc is a parody of the parody of the parody of the fricking parody.
It's just absurdly grotesque, even the engine can't keep up.
They should make adventure/exploration games, they are sublime in that regard.

I'm somewhat in the same boat, played for 5 days straight doing everything I could find and then got to the final boss with full shadowtree blessing. Took the full sixth day trying him and changed builds 2 times and the most I could do is get to the second phase only healing once

Haven't actually tried using mimic tear yet so that may be the next course of action but I haven't used it since my first playthrough

Just killed him solo with a 2h Greatsword + the deflecting tear, probably took me 20 tries
I highly recommend the deflecting tear if you want a way to make the fight easier while still keeping it engaging. I tried the greatshield + spear method and it just sucked all the fun out of it, but this method was fun and felt great. Also stack a bunch of defensive buffs like Lord’s Divine Whatever and the Golden Braid talisman

Pajeet-kun, Elden Ring is literally designed for you to beat it.
The DLC is no different. Kids are already beating it too, because it’s a video game specifically designed to make you feel accomplished in your fleeting life.
If you want actual challenge, play esports and fight no-lifers that will give you no respite.
