You know you can just use pkhex to increase their levels instead of wasting hours grinding right?

    You don't need to grind.

Depending on your team its better to face red with around level 58-65 pokemon imo, it makes the fight actually challenging.

and as a kid I beat red after doing the kanto gyms 20-30 levels under him, as the game intended

Good, I just beat him as well... In a disappointing way that is.
      >Feraligatr Lv 75 Jolly Life Orb Torrent
      Return/Waterfall/Swords Dance/Ice Fang
      >Ampharos Lv 79/80 Modest Choice Specs Static
      Thunderbolt/Power Gem/Signal Beam/Discharge
      >Togekiss Lv 81 Mild Leftovers Serene Grace
      Extrasensory/Fly/Air Slash/Aura Sphere
      >Nidoking Lv 74 Bashful Soft Sand Poison Point
      Poison Jab/Earthquake/Megahorn/Rock Slide

Please enlighten me, high-skilled trainer... What is the best team for the Battle Frontier? I'm thinking of Dragonite, Metagross and Suicune, because they're easier to obtain than Garchomp (I don't have enough patience to wait 3 months and 10 days to catch a Gible in Safari Zone) and Starmie (rare catch rate in Route 47).

My team was level 60, it's really trivial.

Apparently most people can beat it at level 60ish.
Other than levels, Red ain't got much going for him anyway and level differences generally only really matter in early game.

Why are you guys so negative?

It's supposed to be challenging because he's a way higher level than what anybody would reasonably be at that point. Grinding so you can sweep him like any other generic npc defeats the whole point.

      Particularly because of this video:

Dude manages to beat Red with 3(three) Lv 50 mons.

Forget the video, people just started the battle with what they had(likely around the same levels) and won.

As for me, I never beat Red with mons lower than Lv 65. Go ahead and say skill issue to me.

Why did you grind for so loing? you know you can rematch the gym leaders infinite times during their rematch time right? It seems you grinded on wild pokemon only.

this is the type of person who whines about XY being "too easy even for pokemon" btw

      Anonymous

It is, XY and ORAS are the easiest game even with exp share turned off and not using megas. My Y team was level 70 with no grinding. That's 10 levels higher than HGSS. Stop making me defend HGSS you gay homosexual. XY is a better game but it is easy, that's impossible to dispute.

        Anonymous

eh...don't agree with ORAS, while its mostly easy when you don't have exp share on, no legendary and no mega, the league can be quite difficult if you're not prepared (especially Phoebe and Steven's Cradily )

My Alpha Sapphire team was level 50, I never prepare and the only time I was challenged was when I first faced Steven but once I knew his team it was easy to counter. A good fight but an easy game overall. I don't disparage Pokemon games for being easy, I always consider you can make Pokemon as hard or as easy as you like. However, using the same rules gen 6 is the easiest I have played which is all of them except for the Switch games. Gen 6 gives you all the tools you need to make the game easy, using them or not is up to you.

homie dafuq? I beat Red, did a bunch of rematches, no items in battle and I have yet to break 100 hours on said save.

Why bother doing this? The battle against Red is supposed to be a memorable, tense fight between the two strongest trainers. What's the point if you're just going to grind for hours, become massively overlevelled, one-shot every Pokémon, and then complain about how dissapointing it was? Zoomers don't understand how RPGs work.

This is how shitennials play thougheverbeit. I thought all zoomers had ADHD and spammed rare candies?
