The only shit worth paying attention to on that thing is the story dlc and extra playable characters, which won't even be included until the end of the year. Everything else is just filler that should have already been included on release.
Other than Generations, it's the best 3D Sonic since the Adventure games. It's still not quite there yet though. The first two islands are fun but by the time you reach the third it gets old. Frontiers is a good starting point for future games but they need to focus on more variety and better level design next time.
Is Forces any good? It's on sale for 7 bucks.

Forces is poop, only reason to buy it is if you're wired to consume everything with cartoon Hedgehog's in it like I am.
I got it for 10 and felt ripped off. It's easily the worst of the boost games.
I wouldn't even pirate it t b h. Even mods don't save it, modders got bored after a month and went back to modding Gens, so get Gens instead if you haven't already.
There's one bro out there still making mods for it and all he does really is progressively make each stage slightly bigger.
Don't know how since I haven't booted Forces after getting it for free, but I hope that some day he makes it at least a 5 hour experience.
He mostly just adds a fuckload of platforms.

Even the music, which is usually the best thing about "Trash" Sonic games, is mediocre.
At least it only lasts 3 hours so it doesn't waste too much of your time.

Sonic Forces is the second worst "main 3D" Sonic title. The story is paced more horribly than the CGI scenes from Sonic Heroes, the level designs which aren't straight up recycled are just straightways so wide it feels like you're playing Sonic Team Racing without a car, or a bunch of shitty 90 degree hallways made of platforms over bottomless pits expecting you to bypass it with a Wisp. Worst use of the Wisps so far, makes them far too specific and limited compared to every other time they were used. Worst 2D sections in the boost series' history, most of which is copy and pasted assets like it's the Sonic Boom 3DS titles. Everything is poorly scaled especially in 2D portions. Modern Sonic and Buddy are more slippery than the controls in Heroes/Shadow The Hedgehog. Classic Sonic has absolutely no reason to be there. The fucking homing attack performs like it does in Sonic fucking 4. Game is so broken and unbalanced, specifically with Buddy's special abilities, you basically push forward and hold down the Wisp Gun trigger to win. It's all just so poorly set up, unfinished, worst level designs with the worst controls, I think there was ONE stage in the entire game I actually liked and that one is just way too fucking long, the one where Sonic escapes Subspace into a pristine futuristic city that Infinite is slowly warping and taking over.
The only reason I don't call it the worst 3D Sonic ever made is because of the dozens of spinoffs like Secret Rings and Sonic Free Riders exist, and out of the main 3D games from Adventure to Frontiers, Lost World is just fucking trash. It might have made for an interesting original IP, but as a Sonic title it's so fucking bad. Sonic Frontiers does the whole parkour thing better in every way.

Actually Game Grumps (Arin Hanson and Dan Avidan) have just started a playthrough of Sonic Frontiers, so I'll be remembering this game for a good chunk of this year as I watch the Game Grumps play through it.
I can only spend so many hours after 100%ing the game just fucking around, replaying the few cyberspace stages I enjoy a lot, and trying to go places I'm not supposed to.
Does everybody know the game literally only has four islands? Kronos Island is literally just the northern half of Rhea Island above the waterfall where you fight the first Titan.
Anyway, the game came out four months ago and everyone who played it was pretty mutual. The only discussion to be had was the Archiefag obsessing over Ian getting to namedrop two of the comic book characters and demanding that everyone accept the comics as canon.
