2023 Sony PC Plans

Let's have a fun speculation thread. What's next for Sony first party games on PC this year?

Quick Rundown: So far, we've gotten
> Aug 2020 - Horizon Zero Dawn -
> May 2021 - Days Gone
> Jan 2022 - God of War
> Aug 2022 - Spider-Man PS4
> Oct 2022 - Uncharted: LoT
> Oct 2022 - Sackboy: A Big Adventure
> Nov 2022 - Spider-Man: Miles Morales
> Feb 2023 - Returnal
> March 2023 - Last of Us: Part I
> ???

We know from the NVIDIA leak, which has been 100% correct so far, that Ghosts of Tsushima, Demon's Souls PS5, & Horizon: Forbidden West are also coming. What do you think we'll see next?

Bloodborne is never getting a pc port due to the fact the game has god awful spaghetti code that the only people who can work on it, are From themselves. Sony would either have to remake the game with Bluepoint, or pay From a ton of money to do it, but that requires proper interest and a return on investment. Sony knows they aren't getting a return on that investment if they do the latter. Why do you think the PS5 compatible version is still locked to 30? They would've easily changed it if they could.

          >They would've easily changed it if they could.
Some modder, aka some bloke without the source code, made a Bloodborne 60fps mod.
You have to run at >720p due to the ps4's lack of power to get full 60fps, though.

Maybe when the PS5 gets hacked, we will finally see Bloodborne in full 1080p60fps.
This all to say that Sony is gay and they dont put 60fps on Bloodborne because they're hacks

Sure, it's an easy change, but Sony can't distribute hacked Bloodborne legally without risking FromSoft suing them. And I'm unsure about patching it at runtime a la Steam Deck with Proton and shaders, like when they fixed Elden Ring. Steam is allowed to do it because it's Proton and it's PC, PS5 could legally do it because reverse engineering isn't illegal but we'd have to see what FromSoft thinks of it.

Which ones? Personally I don't mind waiting, I'm close to 40 now so I have plenty of shit to play. And with a full time job + kids, I only have a few hours of free time per night anyways. It took me almost all of 2022 to finish Elden Ring.

Personal prediction: After LoU Part I, we should be seeing Ghosts next. If it was already in the Nvidia DB in 2021 they'd have to have been working on it for awhile now. After that, I suppose Demon's Souls at some point later in the year. I don't think Forbidden West will actually come this year since the PS version was just last year. Probably 2024.

After that? I would fricking love the SoTC PS4 Remake, I can't imagine that one would be too hard to port. Of course Bloodborne is the holy grail, but I'm pretty convinced that's a never ever situation. Maybe some Ratchet & Clank titles, or some of the PS3 collections?

BB isn't a good game, that's why. Sony is releasing good games they know will get them money.

      >Of course Bloodborne is the holy grail, but I'm pretty convinced that's a never ever situation
The game runs so shit I'm pretty sure they'd have to rewrite all the fricking code to have it run without tearing in good resolution with a stable framerate and a consistant frame pacing
I played the intro on ps4 pro and PS5 and it runs like garbage dogshit

        Anonymous

The video itself was upscaled to 4K, but the game is running natively at 60fps.
if the PS5 can do it with the default code and some fanmade patch, Sony could also do it. They just dont want to because, well, money and other shit

Why was last generation of console gaming so atrocious? It's like everything was early access and is just now releasing with a release day performance patch
I hope they didn't lost the code with Japan studio closing and they to play this shit someday, I was given a ps4 with Bloodborne amongst other games but I can't be bothered to play a slideshow

It's ironic, last gen gave us far more standardized hardware than previous generations yet games are consistently releasing in sloppier states than ever. Modern devs are fricking squandering heavy-lifting tools that devs in the 90s and 2000s would've fricking killed to have.

Why are the best games cursed with shitty code? Pretty sure that's the reason we're never getting a RDR PC port

Honestly it's just harder to maintain a sane codebase on such massive app
It's far easier to model check your Mayrio code to check if it can run without hitches on a 8 bit 10 mhz single core cpu than to unit test / integration test shrinking horses testicles within a complex multi variable global meteorological simulation system
Add to that that managers and money prostitute have more hands in technical work they don't respect nor understand now than before. To top it off the Mario code still had a shit load of issues that arose in the last 35 years

Unironically give us Gravity Rush, Until Dawn and the Persona Dancing games. I already have them on PS4 but I'd love to play them on PC.

I hope they market TLoU well with the show, not because I care about Sony's profit, but because I want more of their games on PC. Returnal sold like shit, but it was a game I was looking forward to and it didn't disappoint. I feel like these back to back poor sales could make them return to full exclusivity.

their pricing on these is so arrogant, why the frick would I pay 60 dollarydoos for it when I know it's gonna be 30 bucks 6 months later

Returnal was amongst the top sellers on Steam. It probably did decently well.

a sony rep said around the time god of war ragnarok was being released that all of their non-GaaS titles would drop within a year after PS5 going forward so expect that to be released on PC by the end of the year

I'm rather pissed PC (via Steam properly) hasn't gotten Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut yet. I mean, Returnal came AFTER ghost of sushi and yet its already on PC. Sushi is pretty damn good for its game type and also has a nice comfy 4 player co-op mode, so what's the hold up?

I admit I wish Sony would start doing concurrent releases because I'm not going to buy a console to play one or two games at shitty specs, but i will buy the game if it comes to a non shit PC platform (ie Steam and then wherever else you want. No exclusivity to EGS etc). Things are taking too fricking long but Tsushima is WAY behind the loop.

I think there's a really good chance it's coming next after TLOU. The NVIDIA leak has never missed.

        Anonymous

I hope this is the case, but the leak basically called it for years ago so I'm skeptical what is taking this fricking long unless there's some real impediment to porting it one way or another.

          Anonymous

It also leaked Returnal 2 years early and we got that. If anything, Returnal was the biggest confirmation of the whole leak, because PS4 games on PC isn't too far out there, but PS5? Would Sony really release their current gen titles on PC? But since it was announced, basically anything is on the table now.

theyve probably had it in the can for awhile now but have waited to space the releases out, if you look at the OP theyve been dripfeeding these pretty consistently

Ghost sold a shit ton of copies and they probably want the MP to die off before porting it as PC version almost certainly won't have the MP element.

        Anonymous

Dunno, Returnal had the co-op stuff.

          Anonymous

but Returnal didn't sell that well and it's a pretty big feature in the game and idk if it's true MP instead of just connecting clients through games, the server space probably isn't that costly for it.

        Anonymous

if they don't release it on PC with the multiplayer they'll be shooting themselves in the dick on sales. The multiplayer is fun and accessible, requires co-op between different classes. If they release on Steam it would be easy for them to support it with Steamworks for matchmaking and whatever the frick if they don't want to make a custom system for accounts, servers, matchmaking etc. Truncating it when it was upgraded for the Definitive/Director's Cut will mean less sales and probably more pirating from those thatt would otherwise buy. Would be massively stupid.

theyve probably had it in the can for awhile now but have waited to space the releases out, if you look at the OP theyve been dripfeeding these pretty consistently

I mean I guess, but other things came along at a faster pace Spiderman remastered and then a month or two later Miles Morales etc...so they've really taken their time with this one. Maybe its the multiplayer but I can only hope they're making sure it works well rather than lopping it off like they're some JP dev porting a PS3 game who doesn't know dick if its not a console ecosystem.

i think that as soon as the lawsuit is over they're going to stop releasing the games on steam, it's pretty clear that they don't give a single frick about
no marketing at all, the ports themselves are okay for the most part, but even with tlou they listed a graphics card that doesn't even exist on the spec list

Horizon sooner than later imo. they probably need to recoup some advertising costs since they went all out and it didn't sell as much as they probably hoped.

I wanna ask, what's the biggest time difference between a Playstation release and its eventual PC port?
Was it nu-GOW? That game came out on PC, what, last year? But like in 2018 on ps4
