Eh, the 2016 G502 still works perfectly. I'll probably grab a G502X if this one ever kicks the bucket.

What do you use your extra buttons for?

I only use forward and back normally, in games it depends on what game I'm playing. In AoE 4 I use them as control group buttons since they're much easier to hit than like 6, 7, 8, 9 or 0 on the keyboard.

      Those on top
      Back/Forward (folder and co)
Those on the side/bottom shift/ctrl and a jump macro
The one near the scroll wheel lock is bound to f12 to quick screenshot

It's caused by corrosion in the switch, could have worked itself out if it was minor.
On my OG 502 I had to open it up every couple years and put a drop or contact cleaner in the switches. Finally replaced that with the Hero version a couple years ago and haven't had any problems. The rubber grips start to "melt" after like a year but not much can be done about that.

How are the buttons on it? Reading reviews people say it is way louder than the original G502 Lightspeed. Also how is the button placement? If I love my G502 LS will I love the G502X Plus?

Final and most important question - is the scroll wheel any better? I use the left and right side scroll wheel buttons OFTEN and my G502 LS scroll wheel is flimsy and they barely actuate sometimes. Tell me the scroll wheel is improved.

    Better In every way.
I got tired of Logitech's shitty fricking microswitches (had a G302, G502x and G600) starting to double click after a year. On G600 FOUR fricking buttons double clicked.
Decided to buy a Razer Basilisk V3 despite the obvious gaymurr shit Razer is known for and it works way better. On top of that, the software is so much better than Logitech's it isn't even funny - G Hub is an utter piece of shit programmed by Satan himself.

Razer has terrible scroll wheels. The wheel click stopped working after 7 months and the replacement stopped working after only 2 months. Logitech uses shitty microswitches. That's a fact that can't be denied. It simply cuts manufacturing costs.

Have 3 logitech mice in my house. My daily driver has been in use since 2019. Never once had doubleclicking issues; however, I know it's mentioned a lot so I think I lucked out. More importantly, logitech is the only large manufacturer where dropping in new switches doesn't even need a soldering iron.

Worst case scenario, you bought a mouse for half the price of its competitors, with on-board memory so you can keep the bloatware off your computer, that requires a 15m DIY project a year from now. It's a no brainer to me and the only new mouse I plan on buying will happen when they finally make a wireless G600.

The double clicking issue on Logitech mice is very real. Throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, Logitech was extremely popular because they were known for creating high quality and reliable products. Their reputation has completely tanked, because they started to cheap out and use garbage switches in their mice

Is 8k polling still a meme or actually something worth considering when shopping for a new mouse?

      Anonymous

8K polling is great, but only if you are a top 1% player, and you are perfectly fine with your mouse battery being drained insanely fast.

      Anonymous

consider how often your host's USB controller listens to inputs (it's once every millisecond)
now consider how much you will get out of your PC ignoring 7k/8k inputs your mouse's sensor detected

        Anonymous

What is this cope? Modern USB Controllers support 8000hz polling and USB 3 protocol has the bandwidth to support up to a 25000hz polling rate. Secondly, even if the controller's polling rate was throttled to 1000hz, the 8000hz mouse is sending reporting its position and inputs 8x as frequently so when the polling window finally comes the position of a 8000hz mouse will always be more accurate compared to a 1000hz mouse. Whether that is worth the huge battery drain is another question. Finally, if you aren't using optical or HE switches/sensors, the fractions of a millisecond you are saving from polling rates above 1000hz is minimal compared to the whole milliseconds mechanical switches add to the overall input delay.

If you want to quickly scroll to the top or bottom of a long page, it's faster than holding Pg Up/Dn

I use pgup/pgdn on side buttons. Also makes it easier to bind keys in games that are fricky with mouse side buttons.

Are you telling me that you guys don't just mousewheel click on sites and drag your mouse up/down? It's 100x faster and 100x smoother than using either the scroll or PgUp/PgDn.

            This.
Tbh most people don't even know you can middle click to open links in new tab (they right click and then select it from the context menu) or that you can close tabs with middle click as well (and disable the close button so you don't accidentally click it when you have a lot of tabs open and they're tiny).

Autoscrolling is like using controller to play FPP games.
It feels awful and you need to hold that button and move your hand.
You might just as well use the scroll bar, lol.
            Free scroll wheel for life.

You can click and move the mouse slightly, it will go on forever. No need to hold it.

                The toggle is even worse.
Moving mouse to scroll website is just dumb.

What's with the additional buttons near the tip of the mouse?
Do people really just place their entire hand on the mouse to reach it or do I just have really short fingers?

Does anyone like that rubber crap on peripherals? I've never missed it when it's not there and like you said it's just a hassle that also shows a lot of wear. They probably only add it because it looks "ergonomic" and possibly precisely so the mouse looks aged after a while even if it's perfectly fine.

I had carpal tunnel symptoms and I reversed them by just wearing a wrist brace at night while I sleep. I never wear it during the day. Just having it on at night and giving your wrist perfect form while you sleep is enough to keep your wrist healthy even as someone who games all day.

Avoid any trackballs where you use the thumb to move the ball as well.

Imagine paying more than 20€ for a mouse when you can have any Cooler Master with optical switches, flawless sensor and lightweight, you can get a MM730 for just 15€ with the same shape as the Microsoft Pro IntelliMouse.

Modern logitech is so shit. On top of having known double click issues they've also been relying on the same 3 mouse designs for years and years now with 0 innovation. You have the G502 (overrated brick), for esports gays you have the g pro wireless and its successors (like holding a potato in your hands, the only reason why it's so popular is because the shape is so incredibly safe that no one is horribly offended by it), and for poorgays you have the g203/g305 (was never good to begin with). There hasn't been anything in their lineup that's genuinely exciting for years now.

never had this problem with any other brand, even after attempting to clean the switches with the logitech. Why are you such a bootlicker for a company that doesn't know or care about you? like you're autistically responding to everyone as if they personally offended you, take a step back and reevaluate your involvement here

Are you telling me the other brands enjoy being misused by your monkey death grip?

I am reiterating a statement, based of my own experience, that happens to be stated by numerous people even within this thread, of which every single response is you autistically defending the company rather than accepting the well known and popularized opinion that logitech switches have extremely poor quality control and frequently fail (double click) within months of purchase.
keep it up though, I'm sure they'll hire you soon
