Then why did Ketheric do the moronic operation to capture "Veteran Drow Warriors" when they get downgraded to level 1 anyway? Why didn't Ravenguard get downgraded?

All absolute radpoles have the same "unique properties", only the party gers pushed to level 1.

            >only the party gers pushed to level 1.
And what is another unique characteristic the party has in comparison to said villains?
It really isn't complicated to work some of this out. I don't know why you are having so much trouble with this.
If you just want to hesr that all this is also an 'excuse' to have a balanced game with a learning curve, I can just tell you that outright, but I think you want to have a stupid discussion about nothing.

The party got booted out of the ship where the flayers were doing some frickery with them.

It was more thoroughly discussed in the ea version.
According to larian, they were like around level 8 and initially were aimed at level 10 at the end of the game. That was scrapped and now it's 12.
Still a shit game with a bogus story.

The only persons where level 1 makes any sense is Shart and Durge because memory wipe, and the radpoled Duke didn't get weaker unless you think he was a level 20 Paladin before.

No, it's just that he's in a built-optimization game, not in a role-playing game. A game that takes role-playing seriously wouldn't have a concept such as "levels" to begin with.

Explain to me how a roleplaying game is supposed to work out when there are zero numbers involved and you can do literally whatever you want? Tabletop has levels, skills and so on to fine tune your character for a reason and it's a thing that's unparalleled in terms of roleplay potential. You're taking being a contrarian and a smart ass Black person to a whole new level.

No, a roleplaying game would simply have thematic enough mechanics that there's no obvious rift between the emergent narrative and mechanics of the game: indeed, numbers are kinda sorta required to constrain the players so they can't get away with doing literally whatever (and instead would have to face the sort of constraints their character ought to face): in other words, the mechanics support rather than hinder playing in-character. Games like Crusader Kings, Dominions, UnReal World and such like are designed with roleplaying in mind whereas for D&D its a nonstarter starting from the most fundamental mechanics like the use of d20 (due to poor features of its probability-distribution: extreme outlier events are as likely as any other, which even at the best of times makes following the mechanics no better than deciding everything by fiat).

If they had given you higher level characters you would complain that they were pushing you to use them. Stop smelling you own contrarian farts and being a moron, its a RPG
your melee powers are swing nornally in the beggining and swing a little better with maybe an sfx in the blade at max level. This is nothing new, and we like it that way.

Because the writers want to include their super ultra special OC's into the game, but presumably the gameplay team said "no". So the inconsistent tadpole is the compromise.
