it's jank as frick but I wouldn't call it a bad game
they probably just got filtered by the combat

It's not a bad game, but it does provide an experience that's very specific, and people who don't like or aren't used to that experience can get turned off from it very quickly. I'm not a fan of it, but I think that it's important for games like this to continue being made.

It's fricking awesome if you don't get bounced off by the need to prepare for outings or the combat
      It's ds2 era clunky combat
The game also never tells you that in order to not do shitty ass chip damage you need to learn skills from trainers in the various towns.
If you're just hitting shit with your sword your doing it wrong.
Also learn elements and status effects, they're you're bread and butter when it comes to non-skill damage.

I like the game a lot, it was my game of the year when it came out, lots of exploration, interesting equipment to find and collect, everything is useful in some way.
It also has non standard classes, no just plain "warrior" or "mage" shit, lots of synergistic stuff, it's a learning curve but you can figure it all out without a wiki, the first area is great for learning and there's no permanent death, instead when you die a random event happens that can be based on what killed you or where you where when it happened.
There's some interesting systems in the game, and I actually even got into the story, no one talks your ear off too much so it's not a slog to pay attention to.
If you can get over the hurdles its a very satisfying gaming experience that is underrated.
I also really dig the art design, it's weird so it avoids being generic.

Recurve Bow is a must have for any build. Light weight, easy to make ammo and -25% speed buff on enemies so you can run circles around them for days.

It's complete dogshit, but it seems some shill is being payed to advertise it in the last couple of days.
And it's dogshit because the game fails to deliver anything it sets out to deliver, it's not a matter of tastes or the game not being for you, the game is fundamentally poorly made at all levels, it is at best a good tedium simulator.

          >Shill projecting his own mental moronation on people
Unfortunately for you I played this game when it was still new, before your little e-celeb made a video for it, and I also suffered through both DLCs because I honestly wanted it to be good, unfortunately no matter how much time passed the game didn't get better.
To add insult to injury, the horribly dishonest devs made a "definitive edition" that did nothing but make the lighting worse and add "rebalance" some items (they didn't fix anything else to the point that armor sets that had literally unfinished meshes are still there, webm related), had the balls to force you to buy not only the base game but both DLCs if you wanted the definitive edition at a decent price, and at the height of corporate dishonesty they delisted the base game right after the "definitive edition" came out to see how many suckers they could scam.

You really do not want me to expose your dumpster fire, I can make extremely detailed lists of all the problems in your game, problems that do not boil down to opinion or personal tastes, it's objectively a terrible game.

You talked about projecting and then proceeded to go on like I'm not only a paid shill but a developer of the game.
For someone who hated it you also talked about doing literally everything in it, so you're one of those weirdos who plays a game for 1000 hours but then goes on about how it's terrible and says not to get it.

I just like the game, man.

I played the game on and off for about 100 hours, the game is not big or rich enough in content to need too much and it's been several years since it came out.
But yes, unlike you I do know what I'm talking about because I actually took my time to play the game, I had a genuine interest in what they tried to sell me, but they delivered none of that, at any level, and the devs have been not only incredibly lazy but dishonest enough as to try and scam people out of their money with a definitive edition that didn't fix anything.

So yes, I will advise people to not get the game not only because it is objectively poorly made at all levels and not worth the money, the developers have shown to be unreliable and especially dishonest.

mind you this not even a double AA title. this is some literally whos game from Canada IICR. their first game in fact. I don't mind the jankiness, wasnt epecting elden ring

Jankiness is the least of this game's issue.

I got the definitive edition because I picked up the game on sale with DLCs, had it in my wishlist forever before then too, youtuber didn't convince me to play it, I honestly thought his video kind of unsells the game, he did meme shit and then proceeded to break the game with cheats.
I played like 100 hours too, so I know what I'm talking about.
I just have a higher jank tolerance than you I guess, I also give exception to small and new dev teams if I like what they're doing.
Yeah it's jank, but like I said in a dif post, if you can get over that hurdle there's fun to be had.

You honestly just kind of sound burned by their monetization, which is fair enough I guess, like I said I got it all on sale.
I'm pretty sure the definitive edition comes with the DLC built in, there was some mention of them folding in mechanics into the base game, which I think is why they took down the old version, but I do agree they probably should have just left it up, I guess they figured it'd be better for people to buy the one whole package than the old game with the DLC separated.

Not bad, not great. Has some cool ideas but a lot of poor execution or stupid ones that kind of ruin it. I put maybe 15 hours into it before losing interest, but there was some stuff in that I genuinely loved. It's just that the jank and frustrating mechanics start to outweigh the fun parts after a while. Some people have more tolerance for the things I found annoying though, like low carry weight limits and needing to constantly eat/drink/sleep, so I'm sure others enjoyed it more.

you can solve the travel time problem by getting the traveling merchant outfit and a pearl bird mask to increase you movment speed, then there's some skills to decrease stamina loss while running and stuff, you can reduce travel time massively like this, a couple minute sprint between towns.
As for backpack troubles, carry waight is tied to backpack, so just get the big backpack, you can even get a skill so you don't have to drop the thing to roll ever, or get backpacks with that as a feature.
Combat can be overcome with a proper build.
Skills aren't toothless or uninteresting either, feel like he just added that one out of anger.
Magic admittedly lacks power considering the overwhelming investment needed, nothing in the magic realm can out damage a good DPS build, however there IS some utility and synergy, pure wizard is a bad idea.
The deletion of inventory is just bad luck, nothing can really fix that other than never removing your backpack.

skills are boring af in this game its all very bland and not a lot of flash

but ya we went into debug mode loaded an old save got the back pack and kept going

biggest problem i had is the need to constantly farm consumes that only last 5min. the exploring of the world felt amazing

game requires a certain type of autism

I think you're exaggerating a little, but yeah running across the map is running across the map, with my speed build I didn't even freeze when the starting area gets cold despite having no cold resist though, I could literally get to town or where I was heading before I froze too much. Using the coach guy to get between towns saves on time if you're willing to burn money.

Debug is a life saver, I had to load an old save too, hiding them is a weird choice.

Yeah I basically ran with the big bag and the rolling with backpack skill a lot just so I could carry around a bunch of consumables and still have space for loot.

I do hope their next game fixes a lot of those problems with this one.

It's okay but the melee combat is pretty subpar compared to the magic system. You can tell that is where most of the attention went. Ranged combat for bows is serviceable but the blackpowder weapons could use some more work. Stuck with the same pistol animation that is slow as frick to reload gets old after a while. If you had a blunderbuss or a musket those would go a long way to giving the mercenary build some much needed variety.

Do NOT buy the DLC, or at least not the Soroborean shit. The map is even more empty than the rest of the game and walking through it is a huge pain in the ass. So many building but none that you can enter. It's absolute dogshit design and sucked out all my motivation to play.

not a game for me, too much travelling and the game just isn't fun to play, everything me and my friend did felt like we were lagging or stuck on something
cool ideas but i just couldn't get into it, the 'survival' part of the game felt like a big chore at the start but i imagine it's easier when you know what you're doing

Kind of funny, but that's the thing about open worlds I guess. For me, I exited the town with a co-op friend and we took the left path to a cave, which ended up being a dungeon with tough fights (some we ran from too), but there was enough treasure to pay off the debt.
