59.99$ + tip + tax

What the frick is wrong with console gaming? Anything worthwile in the whole switch catalog still costs full price (in the eShop).
Meanwhile I can get all the third party titles for 30% less on Steam outside of sales.

They're called israelites. Nintendo that is. It's not evergreen when Nintendo is still charging full price even as the game stops selling and Nintendo stops producing it. It's just to enforce artificial scarcity and the perception that their games are worth more. And a lot of their games aren't even worth $60 to begin with. Wonder for instance, or a ten year old zero effort port like SSHD, both would've been $20 from anyone reasonable.

I don't buy into this, since Nintendo themselves would sell their old games at 5-6 dollars a piece on the virtual console. By your logic, shouldn't Super Metroid and Ocarina of Time continue to cost 60 dollars? If anything, OOT should've gone up in price, considering how universally praised it is.

Nintendo knows how to sell and hype up their brands, that's true, but even those fall off sooner or later.

        >since Nintendo themselves would sell their old games at 5-6 dollars a piece on the virtual console
You mean that marketplace they left to rot and then killed off and those games were tied to the system that would inevitably die with only one way transfers and without forward compatibility to the Switch? Why wouldn't they sell it for cheap? All your games were screwed from the start.

The Switch is an outlier because it's a Nintendo system. Nintendo fans are known to be complete fricking morons who have no idea what things are worth. That's why Nintendo gets away with selling their first-party titles at full-price forever: their fans are literally top stupid to complain about it.

Third party titles do go on sale from time to time.

something like mario maker 2 shouldn't be worth more than 20, link's awakening remake and return to dream land deluxe should be 30 tops, pokemon sword and shield should be 40 WITH the DLC included

        >NIntendo says their games are to take longer to develop from now on
Uh oh we've gotten too wienery for far too long Nintybrod

not to worry, it's very evident they have several switch 2 games ready to release as soon as the system drops and in the months after and several others far along in development

was hoping to grab DQ11 for a trip next week, then after seeing the prices went through everything else that piqued my interest.
If I have to wait for a once in a year sale I probably don't bother anymore or get a cheap physical/steam copy instead.

It's wild that BOTW 'still' is 70€. I'm pretty sure I bought that on release for 60€.
You can't even easily find it in the eShop anymore. The search only shows 3 entries and BOTW is like the 7th entry.

That was obvious, especially when a fricking asset flip like TotK that should've taken them like a year or two at most goes on for 6. Nintendo is always behind the curve, but they do eventually catch up with what ails the industry. They had the full Wii U catalogue to fall back on for the Switch and only had to make games for one system. The droughts on Switch 2 are going to be intense.

        >Zelda fans won't get the next installment until 2030
Goddamn. Like I'm not a zelda fan like that but that's rough. I remember hearing in these financial reports that Nintendo is becoming more open for other 3rd party companies to handle their games. Looks like they're preparing to what's to come of the drought.

that's why I stopped giving a shit, neither BotW nor TotK were what I want out of Zelda and the next one looks like it's gonna be more of the same, so I might be 50 by the time a new Zelda in the old style releases, at which point I might aswell make my own OoT clone.

What they should do, for starters, is just finish the 2.5D mock up derived from TLoZ that they based BotW on.

That shit looks fun as frick.

Sounds to me more like they're ready to embrace GaaS and Early Access (as they're always late to the party with things like this). NSO games like Tetris 99 Mario 35 and F-Zero 99 were test runs for future full scale projects.

$20 for each of those games is a fair price but you're also paying additional $40 for being a Nintendo customer

So technically you're paying $20 for the game itself, no need to complain

Yeah re-releases, they still have them and only after their games have sold so much teh returns are diminished.
Its the same reason we didn't get TotK for 6 years and have not had another 3d mario on the switch. Because they are smart with business. Dont release a new competing product until they regain the most amount of profits from the previous product.
