That's just the tip of the iceberg that is dumb glitches, bugs, and general oversights that GZ and PP have. My personal favorite is how POWs have a psychic understanding that big medic is within 25 feet of them so they stop everything and flop on the ground waiting for rescue. This will straight up bug out multiple scripts and missions.

It was a good game but it had a dumb story and it was a shitty end to BB's story.
    Also the game was unfinished.

You don't even play as BB.

Too much filler missions, shit boss battles and Miller and Ocelot are the only characters that talk, and even they just say the same shit every mission.

I hated it at launch, couldn’t see why all the praise still feel it’s pretty meh as a mainline MGS game. Funny enough I thought the gameplay was great, the actual shooting/combat, stealth elements were above past games. Story meh, getting around the open world by horse wasn’t bad but the way they had outposts everywhere to capture by the 4th one I just never wanted to do it again. The base building junk I ignored too didn’t see why they had to bring it in.

10/10 game. It amazes me how many have sunk 300+ hours into it and still don't understand it

Yeah, me neither, but then again I'm sinking 100 hours in DS and I can easily see people not getting this at all. It's all taste and autism mixed together.

It was coping that this is the last real Metal Gear game and wanting it to be more than it was, especially because it was still updating for a while. So I "true" 100%'d the game, did everything there is to do, grinded all the FOB gear and rewards, recruited every unique named character in the game as listed here: https://unknown321.github.io/mgswaifus/
Then I got the 3 medals you can get to up their stats for a majority of them(some of them can only get 2 medals because they can't get captured and rescued). Outside of this, every other soldier I have is S++ and I have the max amount of soldiers you can recruit.

I'm one out of 30 people who legitimately have the Gold Snake nameplate from one of the 3 times the event to get it played, and I of course have everyone else's gold nameplates from 100 victories against FOB raids that had a defender. I legitimately fultoned enough vehicles and turrets(as opposed to cheating it or downloading a save file) that my PF grade hovers around the top 200-300 in the world despite competing against cheaters, and my espionage rank is top 1000 despite not having done any invasions in years.

I've done literally everything the game could possibly offer. And I'm still very disappointed in it.

Anon, that can't be healthy, the obsession I mean. Does this happen often with games you like? Are you just wired that way?

Nope it was only Phantom Pain. I got into Metal Gear super late(like 2011ish) and played through all of them, got Ground Zeroes and followed the Phantom Pain hype all the way up to release. At the time I also didn't really have any other games I was interested in so when I did play a video game, it was Phantom Pain. For a couple of years.

Btw haven't played the game in years, I booted it up just now to check my PF grade and espionage.

Its okay anon. The justifications on why the game is the way it is are weird. Kojima "made the game he wanted to" and chapter 3 is missing "because Moby Dick had a censored release." Which doesn't at all relate to the disarmament debacle. Kind of fricked up that Konami made people think there was more to the game if they did full disarmament only for everyone to find out it was rigged and impossible to do "legitimately."

I only caught the cliff's notes and think all that nonsense is screwed up.

Its a fun game that I enjoy playing
Sure the story is unfinished and I needed to watch like 20 hours of break down to understand all the details, allusions and historical relevance but I have, checks notes, 486 hours play time, so I got my moneys worth.

Ultimately the game would've been better if they had designed more fixed levels with it in mind, rather than the open world shenanigans. The world was mostly empty, with maybe couple mission locales that made you properly engage with stealth, and those were where the game shined.
Basically less open world, more focused like Ground Zeroes. Funnily enough, I think I ultimately wound up playing Ground Zeroes more, since the smaller map made me think more alternative approaches more than what most of Phantom Pain did.

They should have released mod tools and let people make their own maps
