>Game gets insane padding because Mario doesn't have every ability and you have to switch characters just to do something that Mario in 64 can do with no issue
That's because Mario 3D Land is a 3DS game, so you had to have a 3DS to play it. This means you had to be clinically moronic to even give it a try, boosting its reception overall
The difference is 3D Land's levels were designed with the limitations of its controls in mind. 64's levels were not designed with DS controls in mind and it shows.
>take a game that was a glorified tech demo of how smooth controls can be with a c-stick >put its controls on the dpad
DS sucks.
The fact that Mario in 64 can go from tip toeing, to walking slowly, to walking fast to running while DS can only toggle between walking and running says it all. >buh muh touch screen controls
Yeah, and they feel like shit to use.

64ds movement is more analogue than in 3d land
>Add all this new content >Frick it up by making yoshi the starting character and gutting marios abilities instead of just giving the other characters cool optional stuff
I wont get in to the art style, but its also much more washed out.
yo wtf is this?
Beta image
the bowser room
Miyamoto's favorite room
Won what?
The Sexiest Luigi Award?
So low effort, but that image never fails to make me laugh

Game fricking blows
people shit on it for it's shitty controls (rightfully so) but they give mario 3d land a pass even though it has even worse controls

fair enough, 3ds is the worst console i've ever owned

I really enjoyed all the additions to 64DS. Plus it's got all those sweet minigames.

All they took away was the metal cap and vanish cap, he's still the only dude that can use the wing cap and do wall jumps.
