From what I gathered, wizards live in their own bubble worlds that aren't affected by Muggle geopolitics. I'm somewhat happy with that Rowling does not touch melee weapons (at least from what I read myself). Wands allow nonlethal combat, which is more suitable for a chill setting for kids. A wizard with a blade would be a killing machine, and the a setting where those are common would be much darker. If anything, I'd guess that in the wizarding world using a blade would end you up in Azkaban. However, physical augmentation could be a thing. Instead of gay wizard duels there could be wizard wrestling where you can apply all possible body mods to youeself.

Not really. It is enchanted, but that doesn't mean that its user has to have any form of talent with magic to use it (Neville). Being battle mage =/= having your sword enchanted. You can have literally the most basic sword with zero magical properties and be a battle mage. Likewise, you can completely conjure up a weapon out of thin air and it will still count. Battle magic is all about combining your powers and melee skills in most effective ways to give yourself an edge. Just using a magic sword doesn't make you a battle mage because its magic doesn't come from you, but its enchantment that could've been placed by anyone.
Battle mages are basically Paladins except they are magic based instead of faith based.

I'm somewhat happy with that Rowling does not touch melee weapons (at least from what I read myself). Wands allow nonlethal combat, which is more suitable for a chill setting for kids. A wizard with a blade would be a killing machine, and the a setting where those are common would be much darker. If anything, I'd guess that in the wizarding world using a blade would end you up in Azkaban. However, physical augmentation could be a thing. Instead of gay wizard duels there could be wizard wrestling where you can apply all possible body mods to youeself.

Not really. It is enchanted, but that doesn't mean that its user has to have any form of talent with magic to use it (Neville). Being battle mage =/= having your sword enchanted. You can have literally the most basic sword with zero magical properties and be a battle mage. Likewise, you can completely conjure up a weapon out of thin air and it will still count. Battle magic is all about combining your powers and melee skills in most effective ways to give yourself an edge. Just using a magic sword doesn't make you a battle mage because its magic doesn't come from you, but its enchantment that could've been placed by anyone.
Battle mages are basically Paladins except they are magic based instead of faith based.
Witchers aren't battle mage tier. If anything, they are Neville tier because all of them are basically sorcerers that got circumcised. Historically, at least in the Greco-Roman world, necromancy wasn't just limited to physically raising the dead. Instead of the whole package of meat and spirit ala Apollonius of Tyana and Jesus, the necromancer would raise the spirit only. After that, the magician/witch would communicate with the spirit and if they wanted to, have the spirit act as an oracle for divinatory purposes. You can also use spirits and body parts of the dead to do your bidding too, which is also definitely necromancy.
But I guess you are right, Harry Potter doesn't have that sort of stuff.
