Such scenario is impossible because diversifying leads to ease of conflict and reduction of the stakes. Middle earth is very simplistic and black-white.
        >Elfs, dwarves, white humans represent white European civilization struggling against enemies. Setting is medieval, women are celebrate and such. Eowyn exists, but she is realistic because she always dies killing nazgul together with hobits and entire army, not some moronic needs-noone hero. She, as any other character, relies on others, and, primary on a background fighters to achieve anything.
        >Orcs, goblins, monsters, black humans are all irredeemably bad, corrupted vile, kill them and dont think about it. It is not like killing a human.
As you can see those two groups cannot coexist and oppose eachother. Orcs hate elves. Elves want to sit in their forest but have to kill orcs anyway. They dont consider orcs equal or human at all.
Now imagine nu-middle earth setting where elves can coexist with orks because lets show those bigots or something. Where exotic cultures are not vile and bad. What conflict there to have? Its is not GoT which can be carried by politics or brutal realism. It is done for.

There are literally more Christians alive today than have ever existed in history, yet the art they produce is a pale shadow at best of what medieval Europe (with a combined population less than half of modern Bangledesh) produced in a year.

This isn't even necessarily an indictment of Christians, more that great art has totally vanished from the world. Assuredly there are far more geniuses alive today than ever - so where are they?

Survivorship bias plays a part: everything old that's worth preserving was preserved as best as possible, but literally millions of Renaissance-era artworks that were just copies of each other survived got thrown away when the next trend started. We don't know what modern works will last for centuries.

Christians at least built the most beatiful buildings ever made.

Non-Christians were persecuted anywhere that Christianity was the state religion and that includes art that was not of Christian character, until the Renaissance was allowed to happen after centuries of the Church's repression. This is a bit like Islamists claiming images of Muhammed are haram and you can tell because there are none, except for all the ones where they destroyed.

As for LoTR: all further adaptations will be bad for the same reason The Hobbit films were, Shadow of Mordor's writing was and Rings of Power will be. It's not 'the message', it's that the writers are shit and don't care; 'the message' is just their cover for it.

Of course you can’t deliver quality when you have all these gay ass restrictions.
I’ll use better call saul and breaking bad as an example since it’s relevant now.

A character like Hank could not exist today, you can’t have a character make comments about other races like that and be considered a good guy. I bring this up in a LOTR thread because you couldn’t even have this character in a fictional setting. If they do exist they have to be comically distasteful like Micah in RDR2.

Really villains have suffered the most though, you can’t even have villains display shit like racism or sexism even when it’s clearly shown to be a negative trait

I just wish they'd leave the property alone. When it comes to Tolkien I think a lot of money people mistake brand recognition with fandom. It's a very small minority of people who actually are fans and if you're expecting to somehow woo more people into the property you're actually working counter to your objectives by creating something that's "accessible."
So these suits just end up putting themselves into a situation in which they made a product no one wanted, they've pissed off the core fanbase which media attaches to, any fans that were created are still "transient" they won't go into the original material, you're locked into creating the same derivative nonsense to an ever decreasing consumer base.

I just don't get it. This is not how you grow a userbase. I also know it's not an IP situation in which they have to use it or lose it. It's baffling and upsetting.

      >I just wish they'd leave the property alone

I appreciate your feeling, but they will win in the long run. They'll get some freak hit game along the lines of Shadow of Mordor and they'll run with whatever rope they get. I want to say the Tolkien tradition is strong, but it's still just a very niche area in academia and literature.
For example, observe how Amazon has been slapping Rings of Power iconography and photos onto the original trilogy's books. These people WILL jam their shit in eventually. We cannot rely on the Estate in a post-Christopher world and we cannot always hope the autists will be given a platform to illuminate the situation to the average consumer.

How many Numenors do we need to sink, how many Gondolins need to fall, how many Ages must past. Even King Aragorn would not be the last of his line to deal with the evil of Sauron - it would fall onto his son. And we've lost Christopher. Maybe I'm just feeling down.

Tolkien also said we're fighting the long defeat and the Silmarillion echoes this sentiment. At times the only victory is to die nobly, as Fingolfin did before the gates of Angband. Good things vanishing and slowly going out of the world is the theme which defines Arda and what sets it apart from other (generally nihilistic) fantasy settings. Even the victory over Sauron was a temporary respite, and the unfinished sequel to LOTR had the children of Gondor literally worshipping orcs.

              >In May of 1964, Tolkien commented on The >New Shadow:

">I did begin a story placed about 100 years after the Downfall, but it proved both sinister and depressing. Since we are dealing with Men, it is inevitable that we should be concerned with the most regrettable feature of their nature: their quick satiety with good. So that the people of Gondor in times of peace, justice and prosperity, would become discontented and restless — while the dynasts descended from Aragorn would become just kings and governors — like Denethor or worse. I found that even so early there was an outcrop of revolutionary plots, about a centre of secret Satanistic religion; while Gondorian boys were playing at being Orcs and going around doing damage. I could have written a 'thriller' about the plot and its discovery and overthrow — but it would have been just that. Not worth doing."
―from The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, Letter to Colin Bailey

Tolkien's great grandchildren are disgusting. They auctioned away photos of their grandfather to some Tolkien fan organization instead of keeping their grandfather's photos like normal people.

Imagine selling your grandfather's photos for an average price of 18 thousand dollars...

It's because people have been successful in "deconstructing" the stories you like, because they have power and follow a paranoid religion that regards every historical cultural product as part of a conspiracy by white men to maintain their privileges.

      Anonymous

I don't know about that. Where are the fans of "woke" media? It seems like nobody really likes these things, nobody is a "fan" of pozzed products, at best people are indifferent but never have strong positive emotions towards it, they are never passionate about it, it's like they tolerate it because they have to. The other problem is that they have to agressively enforce these things with massive social engineering campaigns, heavy moderation and outright censorship. Is it really a win when you're paranoid and constantly on the edge because you're 1 minute before midnight from things completely spiraling out of your control?

No, they don't want reactions, they want the complete destruction of the status quo (they speak this openly, if you have never read their bibles, then don't try to draw conclusions because you don't know what you are talking about), and they count on the complacency of the entire liberal establishment, even if in the end the wokeists are extremely illiberal.
This isn't a new thing, by the way. Liberals always ally themselves with the left, even in cases where the left is more illiberal than the right. While they do this, they like to maintain the false idea that they are "centrists" while everyone else is radical. Basically every liberal is an intellectual cuckold.
