have been making lego games for over a decade >the kbnm controls are still completely shit
i don't get how they insisting on porting their games to pc but refuse to optimize the controls
Yeah a shockingly large number of minifigs have unique prints or part colors, and if they were a part of an expensive set they usually end up being rare as hell and really valuable for minifig collectors.
No fricking way. I'm a dumbass, I found an unopened chrome crusher set at a thrift store and decided to open it and build it a few years ago, now it's missing half the pieces and in a big lego bin.
>randomly got the urge to play Rock Raiders on the PC last month >did a YouTube search on how to get the game to run on modern PCs >find a random channel that started posting Rock Raiders content recently >channel ends up S O V L as hell
Honestly, I am surprised that someone is uploading Rock Raiders content in this day and age, even if it's of the LEGO sets rather than the game. I was too poor to get any of the Rock Raiders sets when I was young so seeing them being covered was pretty neat.
Is there an easy way how to play this today? I tried it like two years ago and it was a b***h to make it run on Win 10 and when it finally worked, there were way too many glitches.
Or should I emulate the PS version?
The PS version is a completely different game. I got it running by just fricking with the compatibility mode long enough, make sure you turn on the reduced colors option or whatever it is called.
Just played trough the game last year, loved it as a kid. It still holds up even if it controls and plays like ass sometimes. Hopping into the dual drill car in first person is still as fun as it was as a kid.
I had Rock Raiders for my PS1 but I didn't get fricking anywhere in it, didn't you have to use cheat codes to continue progress because it didn't have memory card functionality or something like that?
I feel like this is the only place in the world I can say this but lately I've thrown on old Lego star wars television series for my son to watch. I would occasionally watch these too and my god they have some genuine fricking humor packed away in them. Some kids show has left me cackling like a mad man and it's like a fever dream every time I watch it.
Those original sci fi Lego sets had so much fricking soul it's unreal, how did everything go so wrong afterwards? At some point it all became licensed garbage like Marvel and Jurassic Park Lego.
People stopped buying them because Lego is goddamn expensive and the same price could get you games that would keep a kid's attention for a lot longer unless they were extra creative. Then they discovered that manchildren will pay EXTRA for their Star Wars grey boxes, and now the license stuff keeps the company afloat and covers however much they probably lose on the stuff that's still good (Creator, Ideas, Technic, etc).
I always got stuck on that one level where waterlevels are rising and you are on the clock. For some reason the pathfinding of my minions gets absolutely destoyed and i cant do anything
That game was responsible for my tastes in games, scifi and music. Maybe I'll make my own version of it some time. It is still awesome with all the features like direct control and wall destruction.
I tried other games but they never hit close. Dungeons and dungeon keeper too, yes. Not the same.
Also first lego racers are still fun to play. My childhood was amazing to think of it.
>appeared in a single set that was just him on a stand with a cardboard backing
It's crazy how Lego hasn't stopped making that kind of set, but none of them are rare because the demographic for them actually exists, compared to 1999 when kids didn't give a shit about a nearly ten dollar set that was a single figure.
thread will be filled with 99% people who never played it and don't belong on the internet
i wish i kept my rockraider legos irl
i had like four sets
I want to play it, where is it?
THEYLIVE
Still mad his moment was unfimished and rushed
I have never played past the couple of first rock layer because I was deathly afraid of the golems as a kid, still can't explain why.
Just set up electric fences and you'll be alright.
Give all your boys the green laser gun, fricking 1HK when they hit.
Men too. I used to have nightmares about this game.

Apparently the minifig of this guy is $700 now
Yeah a shockingly large number of minifigs have unique prints or part colors, and if they were a part of an expensive set they usually end up being rare as hell and really valuable for minifig collectors.
The only people worse than minifig collectors are army builders.
No fricking way. I'm a dumbass, I found an unopened chrome crusher set at a thrift store and decided to open it and build it a few years ago, now it's missing half the pieces and in a big lego bin.
nah chief was only sold separately in limited quantities unlike the rest of the crew
frick now i want to play this again
i havent played it since like 2011, have there been any cool mods since then?

BRICK BY BRICK
SUCK MY DICK
YOU CAN BUILD A MOUNTAIN
YOU CAN JIZZ A FOUNTAIN
So when is this getting a proper Esports treatment?
Is there an easy way how to play this today? I tried it like two years ago and it was a b***h to make it run on Win 10 and when it finally worked, there were way too many glitches.

>The PS version is a completely different game.
Interesting, I didn't know that. I might try it just to see how different it is.
manic miners is a nearly complete unity remake with some added QoL and custom map support
just make sure to use the experimental build
Not unity, it's unreal
Just played trough the game last year, loved it as a kid. It still holds up even if it controls and plays like ass sometimes. Hopping into the dual drill car in first person is still as fun as it was as a kid.
help, the brickster tricked me and he's fricking up the island
Hard rock!
I'd love to hard the girl's rock if you know what I mean.
i know what you mean and i'm rock hard
AN ENERGY CRYSTAL HAS BEEN FOUND
I had Rock Raiders for my PS1 but I didn't get fricking anywhere in it, didn't you have to use cheat codes to continue progress because it didn't have memory card functionality or something like that?
>didn't you have to use cheat codes
ARE THERE ANY CHEAT CODES, MY homie?
I don’t give a shit about cheat codes in game my homie
what’s the difference
I feel like this is the only place in the world I can say this but lately I've thrown on old Lego star wars television series for my son to watch. I would occasionally watch these too and my god they have some genuine fricking humor packed away in them. Some kids show has left me cackling like a mad man and it's like a fever dream every time I watch it.
I must have played this game (the PC version) for hundreds of hours and I never finished it. God, kids are fricking idiots.
Post Lego minifigs who are literally you
'rick on 'eck
>A LUNCHTIME HAS OCCURED
is what I heard it as every time
and then they ate thier chocolate spread sandwiches
Frick I miss rock raiders
jesus fricking christ
In case anyone is not aware, some guy made a remake of the game that works well on modern systems
https://manicminers.baraklava.com/
https://baraklava.itch.io/manic-miners
Oh that was not the download page, you would want the experimental version if you want monsters in the game.
Those original sci fi Lego sets had so much fricking soul it's unreal, how did everything go so wrong afterwards? At some point it all became licensed garbage like Marvel and Jurassic Park Lego.

My job involves dealing with landslides.
And I literally hear this voice line every time one happens or the word "landslide" is said in my head. I wonder how the game holds up.
>I wonder how the game holds up.
I played it somewhat recently and it is so fricking janky
REMAKE THIS GAME FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
Oh boy, do I have some good news for you...
https://baraklava.itch.io/manic-miners
Never underestimate the autism of LEGO fans...
Why is this thing so slow? Even with an upgraded engine, it doesn't move fast enough.
Cuhrome cuhrusha
GRRRANITE GRRRINDAH
tunnel scout
That thing's slower than the Loader Dozer, but at least it has it can tear through hard rock in a literal second.
You know, I'm gonna boot up this game right now.
tried playing it again but the bug where your units stop responding to commands made me uninstall.
I only ever played the PSX version. How does the PC version differ? I remember that the back of PSX case had screenshots of the PC version lmao
It's an RTS, for starters.
I always got stuck on that one level where waterlevels are rising and you are on the clock. For some reason the pathfinding of my minions gets absolutely destoyed and i cant do anything
It's funny to think how an entire subgenre wouldn't exist without a few seconds of a drum solo played half a century before
That game was responsible for my tastes in games, scifi and music. Maybe I'll make my own version of it some time. It is still awesome with all the features like direct control and wall destruction.
I tried other games but they never hit close. Dungeons and dungeon keeper too, yes. Not the same.

I played this game for hours as a kid, but I cannot remember what youre supposed to do
https://manicminers.baraklava.com/
Was just about to post this. God bless this autist.
energy crystal status: found
It's actually pretty playable
>even has a character creator
fricking sick
I will now curse your thread
Why did they never make a second part, or a remake ? Rock Raiders was based as frick.
>Chief is one of the rarest minifigs
>appeared in a single set that was just him on a stand with a cardboard backing
It's crazy how Lego hasn't stopped making that kind of set, but none of them are rare because the demographic for them actually exists, compared to 1999 when kids didn't give a shit about a nearly ten dollar set that was a single figure.
A MAN HAS FALLEN INTO THE RIVER IN LEGO CITY
another masterpiece
I couldnt beat it as a kid.
I stopped at the mission where you had to use the blasters but i couldnt make anyone use them.
Sonic Blaster sucks, anyway. Pusher Beams are just as effective on slugs.
