lol at the people who are angry at the choices to make this movie. People think Zelda should be some LOTR cinematic masterpiece like it's some work of narrative work of art. "Why can't Peter Jackson make it". That's like asking why George Lucas can't direct a Star Fox movie, you fuckin' dummies.
Newsflash, The Legend of Zelda is a TOY. Like Transformers, Barbie, or Super Mario. And like those other toys, it'll get a movie befitting a toy. And you'll go see it anyway, hate it, whine about how it ruined your childhood, then buy the next Zelda TOY product that the movie exists to advertise for in the first place.
>People think Zelda should be some LOTR cinematic masterpiece like it's some work of narrative work of art.
If it's an original story it can be. Also like one anon said, the Barbie movie destroys this logic.
>Barbie movie destroys this logic
It doesn't destroy shit, Barbie movie had a meta narrative. Didn't matter how goofy and out of place it looked because they weren't playing any of it straight.
Not him but everything Jackson makes is cringe and super melodramatic, because he thinks making a scene in slow-mo and adding piano music makes it emotional.
Interesting point. This movie will be cuddly, family friendly fare with tons of hollywood humor like the mario movie. But that will clash hard with tendies headcanon of Link being a serious, mature (lol) property. Should make for some fun and demoralizing threads.
Kinda hard not to when LotR (the books) is the father of all modern fantasy.
The way to do it is put whimsical, nonsensical shit in there. There's a jukebox in OoT. Make it fantasy, but it doesn't have to be tied down strictly to European Medieval shit.
I wouldn't want george lucas to direct a star fox movie, star wars is overrated schlock for the retarded masses. and zelda is probably one of the only video game franchises to deserve the LOTR treatment. 8/10 bait though, you've got a few (you)s there. congratulations.
I think Nintendo will follow the obvious and cast a bunch of stars, which means >Link
Tom Holland >Zelda
Zendaya >Ganondorf
Ron Perlman >Tingle
Danny DeVito
Who I want >Link
Taron Egerton >Zelda
Eloise Smyth >Ganondorf
Rami Malek >Tingle
Peter Dinklage
>Zelda - Ana de Armas
I think Ana will make a better Midna, both imp and full form
>Zelda >Zendaya
Not with Miyamoto. He'll make sure that they main trio is well represented. I expect someone like Malon to become a victim of severe dyslexia.
>Tom holland and zendaya
I hate these two separately, and they're even more obnoxious on screen together. Worst part is one of them is almost guaranteed to be in the movie
If detective pikachu and Mario are any indication, we’re going to get the most asinine slop actors. Enjoy Tom Holland as Link, Brie Larson as Zelda, and Dave Bautista as Ganondorf.
Ganon is already black though so might as well cast him accordingly. Link is white as fuck. Turning him black would cause an uproar from the fanbase. Even the most woke fans would object to that since Link is very iconic.
>link
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson >zelda
Kevin Hart in drag and also whiteface >ganondorf
Peter Dinklage but cgi to be 7 feet tall >tingle
Sir Patrick Stewart
I keep seeing everyone regurgitating the notion that this is the first time the two are working together since the Nintendo PlayStation. Sony distributed the Mario cartoons on DVD.
On top of that, Sony owns the Soundtrack rights to the Mother trilogy, Nintendo licensed Donkey Kong to Sony for Pixels, Sony let MLB the Show on Nintendo Switch
As long as there is no corporate conflict of interest companies are usually fine with playing ball.
They're not even competitors in the video game business. People buy a Nintendo for their first party games. People buy a Playstation for AAA blockbusters. Nobody who is interested in one of these things is going to be swayed to buy the other, and someone who wants both will buy both.
It's interesting seeing all these people casting adults when it clearly should be childlike and whimsical or something. This is why it should ideally be animated.
Not just that, Sony probably wants a Zelda film to succeed, so they will have an easier time producing their own films as well. it's a win win.
The issue is Sony and Arad may literally kill any hope blockbuster vidya adaptions because they are so genuinely cheap and incompetent
>because they are so genuinely cheap and incompetent
They are one of the few studios that cucked Disney out of best animated picture with Spider verse, hell they are the reason NWH felt like a Spiderman movie and not another MCU rethread
This guy gets it. Disney does not understand Spider-man like Sony does. MCU Spidey isn't about spider-man its about ironman lmao
you guys do realize sony absolutely flopped with amazing spiderman before this right? To the point where they werent funding any new spider man movies and were holding the license hostage.
Spiderverse is a fluke because of Lord and Miller. Look at the rest of the recent films Arad has been involved with, and statistically, there is very little chance Zelda will be any better than Uncharted or Venom or whatever the fuck.
IF the Zelda film had a good team attached to it, I'd be more optimistic, but they have the dude who did the Maze Runner films. Not that impressive, but granted he is also doing the new Apes film, which has been so far a series that has been excellently produced, so maybe that might bode well
I think that would be a superficial reason to pick him. If they're going to be tonally alike as well, then it'd be a huge mistake. Unless they're going for something very lame
Sony Pictures was originally going to produce the Mario movie until the North Korea hack and the initial plans for it got exposed which caused Nintendo to drop them.
This. There is zero hope for it to be good now. It might be passable and inoffensive in the same way the Mario movie ended up being, but the opportunity for kino was thrown out the window as soon as they decided to go with live action. Nothing matters after that.
Just give me either Idris Elba or Keith David as Ganondorf.
Matt Mercer did a solid job as Ganondorf in TotK, but I stand by that Keith David would've been PERFECT. Lance Reddick (RIP) also would've been phenomenal.
Anyone else feel Live Action will be a mistake? At best it will feel like a cheap Amazon Prime show at worst it'll be panned like most Netflix shows. I think Nintendo should've done an anime, or a pseudo-anime style like Arcane.
Every live action is a mistake. But if it's already confirmed then we can turn it into even more of a shitty adaptation by memeing out garbage castings and ideas on social media so it would do poor enough to not attract normalnaggers.
The problem is it's going to be like any of the recent Marvel movies where so much of it it just going to be CGI anyways, that the few live action actors are going to stick out and look like shit.
watched The Dark Crystal movie for the first time this year
I simply cannot fathom how much of a precious work of art and passion it is, it's stunning
how the fuck they made a movie that still looks soo good after 40 fucking years
compared with what the industry is pulling out right now
Check out The Storyteller. Probably the best kept secret of Jim Henson's career. Retellings of old folktales narrated by John Hurt and his talking dog.
It should've been Dreamworks
How to Train your dragon, Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda etc have way better writing than every other animated western film these days
CAUSE HE IS THE L TO THE I TO N AND TO THE K WEARS TIGHTS EVERYDAY DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHAT U SAY GOT BIGGER BALLS THAN EVEN EVEL KNIEVEL AND HE AINT GONNA STOP TILL THE WORLD IS FREE OF EVIL
If you use Gerudo's Mask and talk with Talon, he will say something like "You remind me of Malon's Mother" or something.
That's the only hint we got.
She can't be because aside from Ganondorf, Gerudo females only give birth to Gerudo females. And no, this is not a case of retroactively applying new lore, this is something that is canonicized within the game of OOT itself.
There is no such thing as a "half-gerudo"
i don't have any interest in seeing live action Zelda and I've been playing these games since I was a toddler, this just sounds like a bad idea all around
>I feel like the green tunic look would only work if he is a kid
Man I didn't even think about that. This is totally going to be more in line with the BotW/TotK depiction of the Zelda franchise, where everything is just over-emotional generic anime trash.
He should be around 16 2bh, I doubt they would adapt OoT but that would be the only way I see them doing young Link
>but that would be the only way I see them doing young Link
Which is weird because up until Twilight Princess and especially SS and the Switch games, I feel like most people always assumed Link was a child. Even Miyamoto said he felt it was Link's default form. Up until TP, the only two games where Link was an "adult" (i.e. 16-17) were Zelda 2 and OoT. All these zoomers gotta have their older teen twink Link, tho.
It's going to be one or the other. More evidence points to it being OoT though, Nintendo as it lines up with the recent remake rumors, the title being trademarked in 2020 and the leaked Universal theme park shit from 5 years ago.
It will definitley be OOT. It's a far easier game to movify rather than BOTW, which basically has no plot at all. At least OOT has a coming-of-age story with a nice emotional ending with link and zelda being seperated.
It'll be based off the NES game since that's the one Miyamoto worked on and Anouma isn't involved in this. Story will be Link going through some dungeons and fighting ganon at the end.

Yes, but I meant it will take most of it's cues from OOT, and likely have a world more like OOT. When one thinks of Hyrule, OOT hyrule is the default, not the flooded hyrule of WW or the apocoloptic hyrule of BOTW. OOT hyrule is also a very simple "fantasy kingdom", making it palpable as a setting for a first movie
>an OoT adaptation gives the production crew the perfect opportunity to right a girlboss Zelda with her Sheik alterego >introduces Ganondorf as an new, emergent ather than some ancient evil who keeps showing up every few thousand years or so >stars a sheltered Link who's completely clueless about the outside world, giving more chances for the audience to relate to his journey as he goes along >sets up the groundwork for several sequels down the line (Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, A Link to The Past)
Yes, OoT is the go-to choice if Nintendo's interested in adaptations rather than telling entirely new stories.
There's definitely a lot to flesh out. When I watched this video originally I was thinking of some type of ghibli/anime movie, but as long as the live action hits all the themes covered here it would be goated.
it will 100% be Ocarina, Sony is stupid but not that stupid.
the thing is that OOT should be two movies, but I'm not sure they're gonna go for that, unless they shoot it back to back
>the thing is that OOT should be two movies, but I'm not sure they're gonna go for that, unless they shoot it back to back
Not every dungeon will be shown. They will montage through it and put emphasis on the more notable points in the game.
it's more that it's a good split to do it like >Movie 1
Link learns to be a hero, we introduce all the characters, ends on him getting the Master Sword and waking up as an adult to a destroyed Hyrule >Movie 2
We know the characters, we know the guy, we know the stakes, let's get shit done
Timothy Chaturbate as Link (Adult)
Billy Barratt as Link (Child)
Hunter Schafer as Princess Zelda (Adult)/Sheik
Francesca Capaldi as Malon (Adult)
Mia Goth as Princess Ruto (Adult)
Madeleine McGraw as Saria
Jason Mamoa as Ganon
Antje Traue as Impa
Priyanka Chopra as Nabroou
The Rock as Darunia
Keith David (VA) as King Ruto
Christina Hendricks as the Great Fairy
Shigeru Miyamoto cameos as The Happy Mask Salesman
post credits scene features Elizabeth Debicki as Samus, kickstarting the NCU
>movie
Meh. A series would for the LoZ format mich better. >Introduction episode >ep 2-4 link gets the typical pre-sale thingies and master sword >ep 4-10 limp does the temples with some slice of life or other things thrown in >ep 11 showdown prep >ep 12 showdown >ep 13 happily ever after
Perfect for a cour.
this
Make it a series and focus on characters and world-building.
The overarching story of stopping ganon and/or gathering the mcguffins isn't the interesting/fun part of Zelda.
Nintendo completely rewrote Peach's character to please western audience and it worked since Mario movie was a success. I assume the same gonna happen here as well so be ready for Zelda being the actual hero fighting bad guys and Link being retarded(literally mentally handicapped autist) useless, weak, manchild who is scared of everything
Zelda should just be some action packed treasure hunter style movie like The Mummy or Indiana Jones. Make a basic story about Link being some famous adventurer who gets hired by the King to help Zelda track down some macguffin.
Near the end do something where the Triforce of Courage resonates to assist Link, and use that as sequel bait.
it should be animated. it's so fucking stupid to try to do this series in live action. look how well the mario animated movie worked. just do that again for zelda, make it a little darker and weirder and boom you've got another hit. It's going to suck dick as a live action
>people would want a Zelda to movie to just be a game they've played a dozen times and follow Link pushing around blocks
You're all retarded. It needs to be an original story pulling themes from different games.
Do we know yet if it will be based on any of the games or just an original story like Edgerunners? I really have the feeling it'll be a completely new story maybe with references to the games at best.
As long as they don't completely fucking ruin his personality, he'll be fine. >inb4 Link doesn't have a personality
Each Link in every major 3D entry blatantly possesses their own unique personality, you just have to have basic narrative comprehension and an IQ over 100 to see it. Hell Nintendo literally spells it out for BoTW Link through the usage of Zelda's diary entries.
Most Links don't have any personality beyond barebones >imma good boi and im courageous
Even BotW Link doesn't actually have a personality outside of the flashbacks and his journal entries, which mostly got sanitized in the non-JP versions anyways.
Honestly an almost perfect fit for an adult Link at least in terms of wooden expressions. But he should be spared up for the inevitable Half-Life movie since he'd be an even better Gordon.
>Live action
why
the Mario movie was great (from what I heard) and a financial success. what gave them the impression that live action is the right move here?
They've been borrowing everyting they could from Nausicäa and Laputa with BotW and TotK, so if that didn't flatter the old man into working with them, nothing will.
The full movie is available on YouTube and cited by several on the Zelda team as a key inspiration.
Watch it for yourself. It is mondo cute.

Wind Waker already borrows 70% of its visuals from an existing animated feature.
>let's make a movie based on one of the lesser selling entry in the series that put a dent in the zelda brand back in the day instead of the actual popular ones like oot or botw
Based off the Mario casting and Sony’s typical tendies, they’re going to go with big names close to the studio, Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are the most likely for Zelda. For Link, I have no idea, I doubt they’ll use Holland again, maybe Glen Powell.
Zelda is basically just an Arthurian grail cycle. It could genuinely be an epic movie but we all know they're going to mess it up thanks to swarthoids, israelites and Marxism
>Live Action
Don't care, not watching. Should've been anime.
Slightly off-topic, but I never liked the Zelda cartoon. I grew up on the N64 games, so to me OoT was *The* Zelda game. The N64 titles were my main reference for what Zelda was.
I remember being shown a VHS with a few episodes of the show and my Aunt and Cousins saying that it was neat. I sat through maybe five seconds of the intro and asked if we could watch something else because it wasn't "real" Zelda.
>This kids media will be marketed at black, disabled 40 year-olds that way we can go back to doing what we want for another few years before the israelites pester us again.
>live action zelda movies have been "announced" literally every other year since like 2003
Show me where the last official Zelda movie announcement was, prior to this one.
Okay. Now show every other time this was announced, since 2003. Like you said happened.
If you are telling the truth, this should be easy.

it was hyperbole, homosexual, video game movies get "announced" all the goddamned time. they only actually happen once in a while. I've seen metal gear solid movies announced many times over my life for example. also how am I supposed to find old announcements for Zelda movies when search engines are only returning shit about the most recent announcement?

>it was hyperbole, homosexual
Saying something "literally" happened isn't hyperbolic. You were just lying/incorrect.
Because I'd generally be less excited about an animated movie.
...I actually got this close to being a believer in an animated Zelda. Miyamoto sort of made me a believer with Wind Waker. When I watched the Mario movie I sat looking at the beautiful scenery in the Mushroom Kingdom and wondering what Illumination could do with Hyrule.
But I'd just rather have a sincere effort in live-action. My biggest worry though has always been that they'll just ape Peter Jackson and make everything look monochromatic and ugly, like Twilight Princess. Zelda should be colorful and whimsical, that's why I'd almost say animation could be better, but they can still accomplish that in live-action.
>Live Action
Already bodes ill (and the fact that it's made by the same guy who made Morbius makes it worse). Why couldn't Shaft make it an anime movie? They made Palutena's trailer for Smash Bros 4 and that Kid Icarus OVA.
I always think back to Palutenas trailer as well
Literally my ideal representation of Link outside a game.
Just give me 90+ minutes of that and we're good
It's gonna be awful
why even make a live action movie? >it's gonna be capeshit tier >it's gonna cost the entire gross domestic product of a country >greenscreen every single scene >it will be an awful casting, with out of character protagonists >link will have a voice and will quip
I already hate it so much
fuck hollywood, fuck americans and fuck marvel, they runied movies forever
Pic related it's warcraft the movie, it was a (mostly) well developed movie with high production value
Normies liked it for what it was, and warcraftfags like myself felt it was competent and like 80% faithful to the source material
it all depends on the tone of the story
Zelda has a wide range of source material, from playful and adventurous, to epic and fantastic, they even made dark and sorrowful storylines. it all depends on what miyamoto wants honestly
I wish they made an adaptation of Ocarina of Time, or the original zelda in a epic and fantastic setting with an adult Link
if they wen the route of young/toon link it should have been animated
but my bet is in a raw adaptation of the setting and tone of Breath of the wild and Tears
this is what they're gonna do, it's the zelda zoomshits and open world slaves praised to hell and back, they have the british zelda, the four anime like guardians, the story should write itself
Rememer that in this thread, right now are people who are excited for a movie about a game with an incosistend setting, about story told in about 20 lines of dialogue and with the most common trope that will be subverted (again) because its sexist.
They can't even make it a comedy for children like Mario.
I actually worked with the company that was hired to co-write this.
>”Link saving Zelda” dynamic was deemed proplematic, so Link won’t be in. >Last I was involved they were entertaining two options: Link dies in the beginning, as a comedic relief caricature of silent hero trope, or Link appears in the end as a teaser. >2 heroes are Zelda and a renegade gerudo thief on the look for a husband. >Ganondorf they were still debating if they should cast as a black guy or white (since he’s a villain) >They basically had me attend the ”creative direction meeting” weekly with the japanese involved, but our team was told to basically ignore their feedback.
I doubt Nintendo will ever allow it to see the light of day.
And I kid you not: it only get’s worse. They’re planning for a teaser trailer next year where they show caped person in blue BotW tunic slaying one of the mechanical tentacle thingies, and the at the end SHE removes the hood and goes: ”This is MY legend!”
The whole pre-production was a comedy show on the level of the recent South Park episode. That’s the reson I couldn’t take the job anymore and quit and loved back to EU.

Remember when this was just a regular rank and file soldier shield and not a blessed, magical, super shield born of the divine dragons under the gods themselves?
I wonder if the storyline will be based on mainline games like Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword?
I want to see live-action versions of dungeons like the Forest Temple, Skyview Temple and Water Temple
>Zelda going to be a white blond girl guys! >IN AN AMERICAN MOVIE! >MADE IN HOLLYWOOD! >Believe ME!
Hehe.... HAHAHAHAHAHA
It will be glorious when she isn't.
I'm already preparing the popcorn and the raincoat to protect myself from the tears.
Why in God's name are they doing live action? Mario showed that you can do a perfectly fine 3D animated video game adaptation. It wasn't amazing but it was entertaining enough, which is usually the best you can hope for. I have much less confidence live action can reach even that low bar.
>announces on a random Tuesday that Sony will be disturbing the live action Zelda movie >The producer of Morbius is assigned to the project >directed by some studio yes man who directed the shitty Maze Runner trilogy >refuses to elaborate >leaves
It's obviously going to be a BOTW/TOTK adaptation since that's the most popular incarnation and the mold for the future of the series. Best you'll get is some easter eggs and nods towards older games.
>It's obviously going to be a BOTW/TOTK adaptation since that's the most popular incarnation and the mold for the future of the series
OoT is still the most culturally relevant, anon.
Just look at the image used on the tweet, it is from OoT.
Besides, OoT is a good start for the series, because will show how Ganondorf turned into Ganon.
Ryan gosling is Link
Emma Myers is Zelda
Dave Bautista is Ganondorf
Sydney Sweeny is Purah
Jenna Ortega is Riju
Tom Holland is Tulin
Henry Cavill is Sidon
Seth Rogen is Yunobo
Kate Blanchet is Mineru
Viggo Mortensen is Rauru
Alison Brie is Sonia
On the one hand Avi Arad, a israeli producer, will be involved. On the other, Nintendo is extremely litigious and protective regarding their intellectual property. The outcome of this will be an indicator of where Japan is currently at.
>Nintendo is extremely litigious and protective regarding their intellectual property
Didn't stop Illumination from showing Mario get clowned on more than once
>Live action
Wow, so even worse than the Mario movie, gotcha. Can Nintendo do anything right? How much are they going to have to fight to make Link mute? How many times will they have to tell the director that Ganondorf is not misunderstood, he isn't a stand in for a israelite or arabic just because he has a big nose and comes from a desert region and that Zelda doesn't need a scene where she does all the actual work while Link is a bumbling moron. How many new and fresh OCs will the movie get, where they obviously need them because they finally gave up on making Link talk, even though they got that most famous actor that cost half of the movies budget?
Sony have a decent feature animation studio that Nintendo should've given the project to instead.
Guess they didn't learn from the live action Mario film.
Am I the only one excited that its gonna be live action? I think it'll be awesome to get another gritty high fantasy Zelda thing after so long. Last game with a gritty realisticish style was from 2006. Everything onwards has been cartoony or cel shaded. Nothing wrong with that.
Unironically yes. More work is involved with animation vs live action. Just look at how long it took for Spider-Verse 2 to come out compared to the duration between the live action spidey movies.
Everyone complaining that sony is doing this movie when instead they should be celebrating that we dodged a bullet because it could have been done by Disney and be soulless and diverse as fuck. MCU is garbage because those movies abuse green screen instead of actually building the sets irl.
Not among the general public it isn't. Most normalfags in the west don't care for anime outside of Ghiblishit & mainstream shonenshit and animation is steriotypicallty viewed as something for children. If you want to capture a mainstream global audience of all ages, live action is the way to go. Nintendo makes these movies for profits not just for the fans.

Speaking purely in movie terms, a live-action does make a lot more sense, especially since anime movies are generally special limited releases in the west. But if it were an animated series, anime would actually get people interested rather than worried about EXCUSE ME PRINCESS 2.0.
>live action
Big fucking mistake. They should have went with that digital look the zoomers rave about. I'd prefer proper 90's anime style but no chance in hell that happens. Live action is the worst possible scenario for Zelda.

Ideally? Hmm. >Link - Thomas brodie sangster >Zelda - Thomasin McKensie >Ganon/Ganondorf - Andy Garcia >Tingle - Hunter Schaffer >Voice of the great deku tree - Laurence Fishburne
Realistically they only do Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. Everyone else is replaceable or able to be made up entirely. Zelda will be Shiek 100% at some point in the movie
Man I really don't want Zelda to be in the movie which sounds silly but I can't stand how modern western writers write male and female dynamics or just females in general
Mario is a goofy manlet whose powers effectively boil down into magic. Link swordfights and uses tools, rides a horse, so it's obviously more down-to-earth.
The funniest thing about all of this is that even if the movie blows all expectations and instead ends up being mediocre instead of a complete trashfire, the retards here would praise and defend it like it's the second coming of christ and it'll do insane numbers in the first two weeks, I'd say even surpassing the Mario movie.
I think it would be a much better idea if they not make it the classic stop ganon/rescue Zelda plot, but rather make some different story set within the world of a specific game.
Like have some story about about Malon and farm-living.
Or just have a whole movie about just the Zoras. Don't even show a single hyrulian.
Or how about a movie depicting the events of the hyrulian civil war of the OOT prologe.
Have a movie about tingle joining the mafia or whatever.
I just want something creative and not the same safe hollywood 'appeal to the widest possible demographic' movie they've made for the last 20 years.
Because it would be interesting.
Trying to do a big long adventure of a fundamentally very simple story is retarded.
They're not gonna adopt a specific game anyway, and even if they were, they would need to massively rework the story to fit a <2h movie.
The whole appeal of Zelda is a big long hero's jorney. It's appeal of exploration. I feel like you can't really get that in a not-crazily-long movie. So why not do some other story with other stuff from Zelda that people care about? Like it's characters and lore.
Koksal Baba as Tingle

lol at the people who are angry at the choices to make this movie.
I should be directing the Star Fox movie and it'gonna be in full marionette art style a la Thunderbirds
It shouldn't be made in the first place. It'll suck ass, and I'll see the tuber reviews confirming it without spending any money.
Really because the Mario movie was well reviewed
You aren't the target demographic for Hollywood
You got that right. My taste is too good to like modern hollyweird shite served on a liberal platter.

I thought they were really good, but I agree about the books
Okay.
The books were. The films were alright.
Interesting point. This movie will be cuddly, family friendly fare with tons of hollywood humor like the mario movie. But that will clash hard with tendies headcanon of Link being a serious, mature (lol) property. Should make for some fun and demoralizing threads.
How the film makers dont make this a LOTR ripoff.
Link - Timothy Kalameet
Zelda - Ana de Armas
Ganondorf - Josh Brolin
Tingle - Danny DeVito
I think Nintendo will follow the obvious and cast a bunch of stars, which means
>Link
Tom Holland
>Zelda
Zendaya
>Ganondorf
Ron Perlman
>Tingle
Danny DeVito
Who I want
>Link
Taron Egerton
>Zelda
Eloise Smyth
>Ganondorf
Rami Malek
>Tingle
Peter Dinklage
>Zelda - Ana de Armas
I think Ana will make a better Midna, both imp and full form
Forgot pic
No Ana will be fine as that giant fairy that gives you upgrades+ sexual assault she already did naked giantism in blade runner
ill take it
Get Scott Atkins to play Ganondorf. Get him to ham it up like he did in John Wick 4.
>Zelda
>Zendaya
Not with Miyamoto. He'll make sure that they main trio is well represented. I expect someone like Malon to become a victim of severe dyslexia.
>red head
100%. She'll be that disgusting mushmouth mutt from Willow and Falcon + Winter Soldier.
Malon will be played by Francesca Capaldi
Bryce Dallas Howard will be Malon's mom, I expect the Jurassic World connection to come into play here
>redhead
>humble background
Oh no
I can’t fucking stand Tom Holland
>Tom holland and zendaya
I hate these two separately, and they're even more obnoxious on screen together. Worst part is one of them is almost guaranteed to be in the movie
>Danny DeVito
Remember when you guys were all certain that they could cast him in the Pokemon movie and they went with Deadpool instead lmao
Ganker typecasting is so fucking off
Have you ever thought that maybe were the only sane ones left, anon?
If detective pikachu and Mario are any indication, we’re going to get the most asinine slop actors. Enjoy Tom Holland as Link, Brie Larson as Zelda, and Dave Bautista as Ganondorf.
>Enjoy Tom Holland as Link, Brie Larson as Zelda, and Dave Bautista as Ganondorf.
I don't know who any of those people are.
Dave Bautista is actually good, although he would be better as Darunia.
maybe 20 years ago it could be pearl(cave)man, he's a fucking corpse now
Idris Elba as Ganondorf would work better.
> AYO LINK DAH REALM IS FIXED*Movie Crash*
Either ganondorf will be white or link will be brown. It's not happening any other way.
Ganon is already black though so might as well cast him accordingly. Link is white as fuck. Turning him black would cause an uproar from the fanbase. Even the most woke fans would object to that since Link is very iconic.
That'd be the case if the movie was being made by Disney but thankfully its not. Sony movies are based. Its their bread and butter.
How tall is Idris? Ganondorf actor I feel needs to be at least 6'3
Height generally does not matter in movies, as movie magic has been a thing for decades.
ian mckellen isn't 3 feet taller than elijah wood, but they pulled it off
Ganondorf is a person of color you fucking retards. You really expect a white person to play him? Ideally he'd be played by an Arabian Actor.
>Ganondorf is a person of color
>Ideally he'd be played by an Arabian Actor.
How many green Arabs do you see?
why do people say this? ganondorf and other gerudo are brown
Looks green to me.
you're blind then
That's a green hue my dude. Colour blindness?
No u
Color blindness
He's green. Speak to an optician, this isn't even a joke.
If you can't see that's green, your eyes are not working correctly.
>literally proves himself wrong
what did he mean by this?
>Ganondorf is a person of color
the rule of white villains in western media overrides any race ganon happens to be in the source material
nagger he's green. Anyone race could play him because whoever they are is going to be under several layers of body paint.
link's clothing is green. how the fuck can you look at ganon's skin and say it's the same color as that?
>he thinks there's only one (1) shade of green
Seriously. Go and get an eye test. You are clearly showing signs of colour blindness
ganondorf is like some weird afghan guy with green skin and orange hair with a german name
>Zelda - Ana de Armas
>Blonde hair blue eyed character played by a Hispanic
Nice bait
Sony really brought together an allstar lineup to tank the Zelda franchise's reputation into the ground.
>link
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
>zelda
Kevin Hart in drag and also whiteface
>ganondorf
Peter Dinklage but cgi to be 7 feet tall
>tingle
Sir Patrick Stewart
kino is back on the menu
Patrick Stewart would be a kino tingle.
>all these people confused that Sony is producing it
Why? They aren't competitors in the film business.
sony the film studio and sony the console/game dev producer might as well live in different universes for how much they interact
That's exactly what I'm saying.
I keep seeing everyone regurgitating the notion that this is the first time the two are working together since the Nintendo PlayStation. Sony distributed the Mario cartoons on DVD.
There were Mario cartoons?
>he never did the Mario
Another sign I'm really too old for the kids who use Ganker
Adam Sandler as link would be fire tho
>because they are so genuinely cheap and incompetent
They are one of the few studios that cucked Disney out of best animated picture with Spider verse, hell they are the reason NWH felt like a Spiderman movie and not another MCU rethread
This guy gets it. Disney does not understand Spider-man like Sony does. MCU Spidey isn't about spider-man its about ironman lmao
you guys do realize sony absolutely flopped with amazing spiderman before this right? To the point where they werent funding any new spider man movies and were holding the license hostage.
TASM has more soul than all the MCU spidey movies combined. They were great.
Everyone hates TASM movies, everyone pretended to like them because of the No Way Home hype
Yes, and they redeemed themselves with NWH and Spiderverse, that's like saying Nintendo should've called it quits after the WiiU
Spider verse sucks dick and you're not a human
Seethe mousequeerer
Yeah, Iron Boy exists specifically because Sony wanted to use Iron Man as a crutch for their Spider-Man movies as part of the deal.
Not that impressive, but granted he is also doing the new Apes film, which has been so far a series that has been excellently produced, so maybe that might bode well
Maze Runner was kinda dungeon like. Seems like a good pick
They also produce nothing but turds
Cared when I was 11, not now. It will be bad
>Cared when I was 11, not now.
I mean, that's generally when you stop caring about a thing for little kids.
>zelda is very popular amongst autists and women
makes you think
>Could've had a kino early 90s Zelda movie if the Super Mario Bros movie didn't poison the well
Think Turtles meets Labyrinth or Dark Crystal.
Link should be played by Henry Caville
>live action
already ruined
>morbius producer
ruined 2
>miyamoto
ruined 3
> ZELDA! IM MAJORING MASKIINNNGG! AAAAHHHHHHHH* FIERCE DIETING*
The only bad thing Miyamoto ever did was turn dinosaur planet into star fox
>responsible for sticker star
>responsible for star for zero
This. There is zero hope for it to be good now. It might be passable and inoffensive in the same way the Mario movie ended up being, but the opportunity for kino was thrown out the window as soon as they decided to go with live action. Nothing matters after that.
>mfw link’s only line is “its linking time” before he links with zelda
>Who do you think will be cast as Link,
> Sees a wild dog
> HYAHHHHH!
> Does fortnite dance after breaking all the vessel of a poor bastard house
>man i used to spend hours catching… CUCOOS
HOOKSHOTTING....OCTOROKS
The most unexpected like chris pratt just spy miyamoto social profile if he liked any film recently or actor
Just give me either Idris Elba or Keith David as Ganondorf.
Matt Mercer did a solid job as Ganondorf in TotK, but I stand by that Keith David would've been PERFECT. Lance Reddick (RIP) also would've been phenomenal.
Lance reddick will be a bitch rested bored ganondorf that thinks he is smartass
Jenna ortega as Zelda
That would be a mute contest or mute reversal
>zoomer has shit taste
Emma Jenkins-Purro should be Zelda.
Why does she look a lot like Emily Rudd?
I fucking hate that I can see this happening. Either her or Saoirse Ronan.
Where did this bitch come from? She’s not even attractive she just looks like a bitch is this what Zoomers are going for?
Zoomers want a coke addict face for their leading ladies
Gay as fuck post.
Zoomie detected
She's sexo.
I would rather have her play Midna.
her face is awful.
Nigga you gay.
I know, it doesn't have cum on it.
she looks like Neo Cortex
you sound like a bitter incel
well well well, if it isn't Crash Bandicoot
No no she is Riju and Emma Myers is Zelda
I don't see why live action adaptations are so popular in the first place.
Oh, it's a massive mistake.
Even a large majority of normies don't want live action and are completely confused by the choice.
yes it is a mistake
they should just contract the Arcane studio to make animated kino
The only right way to do live-action Zelda would be to go full Jim Henson Creature Shop Fantasy movie.
watched The Dark Crystal movie for the first time this year
I simply cannot fathom how much of a precious work of art and passion it is, it's stunning
how the fuck they made a movie that still looks soo good after 40 fucking years
compared with what the industry is pulling out right now
thats because it was a Jim Henson studio movie.
Check out The Storyteller. Probably the best kept secret of Jim Henson's career. Retellings of old folktales narrated by John Hurt and his talking dog.
shouldve made it a ghibli movie honestly
Common reddit take
Modern Ghibli is soulless
Ghibli has hardly done anything since the early 2010's & adaptations of Video Games are not the type of work that the do.
It should've been Dreamworks
How to Train your dragon, Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda etc have way better writing than every other animated western film these days
>How to Train your dragon
This would have been an amazing artstyle for Zelda.
All western animation is goyslop but
>way better writing than every other animated western film these days
Pixar is literally their only competitor.
Studios like Ghibli and DreamWorks would not give Nintendo full creative control which is what they want.
i honestly doubt anyone would be making any demands when they get the chance to work on a nintendo IP after the massive success of the mario movie.
>Puss in Boots
>expect nothing
>get unfiltered KINO
Tamlyn Tomita for old Impa or whoever will be the Sheikah leader.
God, just imagine her in sexy tight sheikah ninja clothing. Yuuuuum
Will he be reprising his role?
CAUSE HE IS THE L TO THE I TO N AND TO THE K WEARS TIGHTS EVERYDAY DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHAT U SAY GOT BIGGER BALLS THAN EVEN EVEL KNIEVEL AND HE AINT GONNA STOP TILL THE WORLD IS FREE OF EVIL
Zelda should be black.
Timothee Chalamet
zelda/sheik will be trans
The occult rite of Zelda is best experienced as a game, not as a movie
i will only watch it if Zelda is cute
Sam Hyde as Link,
Charles as Zelda,
Hasan Piker as Ganondorf
Ethan Klein as tingle
>When not even Snow White is white
>Ganker thinks Zelda will be white.
Nintendo is based, that's the difference
Wasn't it implied Malon's mom was a Gerudo? lol
If you use Gerudo's Mask and talk with Talon, he will say something like "You remind me of Malon's Mother" or something.
That's the only hint we got.
That semitic nose. Matrilineal descent. Actual israelites.
Same, but the series is dead to me at this point so I may as well watch the trainwreck from the sidelines.
So, they add a diverse chick in it and make her gay. And lame, of course.
Malon is next. Hollywood loves replacing gingers with naggers.
How young should Link be? I feel like the green tunic look would only work if he is a kid
He should be around 16 2bh, I doubt they would adapt OoT but that would be the only way I see them doing young Link
>I feel like the green tunic look would only work if he is a kid
Man I didn't even think about that. This is totally going to be more in line with the BotW/TotK depiction of the Zelda franchise, where everything is just over-emotional generic anime trash.
>but that would be the only way I see them doing young Link
Which is weird because up until Twilight Princess and especially SS and the Switch games, I feel like most people always assumed Link was a child. Even Miyamoto said he felt it was Link's default form. Up until TP, the only two games where Link was an "adult" (i.e. 16-17) were Zelda 2 and OoT. All these zoomers gotta have their older teen twink Link, tho.
>muh tom Holland muh Timothy
This is why Zelda should've been an animated movie. So tired of this stupid ass casting
People keep acting like it's going to be Ocarina of Time and not Breath of the Wild. Don't fool yourselves.
It's going to be one or the other. More evidence points to it being OoT though, Nintendo as it lines up with the recent remake rumors, the title being trademarked in 2020 and the leaked Universal theme park shit from 5 years ago.
It'll be based off the NES game since that's the one Miyamoto worked on and Anouma isn't involved in this. Story will be Link going through some dungeons and fighting ganon at the end.
It will definitley be OOT. It's a far easier game to movify rather than BOTW, which basically has no plot at all. At least OOT has a coming-of-age story with a nice emotional ending with link and zelda being seperated.
I'm pretty sure it's going to be an original story with the same tropes like Mario
To add to your commentary:
>an OoT adaptation gives the production crew the perfect opportunity to right a girlboss Zelda with her Sheik alterego
>introduces Ganondorf as an new, emergent ather than some ancient evil who keeps showing up every few thousand years or so
>stars a sheltered Link who's completely clueless about the outside world, giving more chances for the audience to relate to his journey as he goes along
>sets up the groundwork for several sequels down the line (Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, A Link to The Past)
They will montage through it and put emphasis on the more notable points in the game.
it's more that it's a good split to do it like
>Movie 1
Link learns to be a hero, we introduce all the characters, ends on him getting the Master Sword and waking up as an adult to a destroyed Hyrule
>Movie 2
We know the characters, we know the guy, we know the stakes, let's get shit done
if OOT is the premise it would be best to do kid link - forest temple then 2nd film is rest.
It'll be a trilogy for each part of the Heroes journey. If they don't do this they are retarded.
Timothy Chaturbate as Link (Adult)
Billy Barratt as Link (Child)
Hunter Schafer as Princess Zelda (Adult)/Sheik
Francesca Capaldi as Malon (Adult)
Mia Goth as Princess Ruto (Adult)
Madeleine McGraw as Saria
Jason Mamoa as Ganon
Antje Traue as Impa
Priyanka Chopra as Nabroou
The Rock as Darunia
Keith David (VA) as King Ruto
Christina Hendricks as the Great Fairy
Shigeru Miyamoto cameos as The Happy Mask Salesman
post credits scene features Elizabeth Debicki as Samus, kickstarting the NCU
>it's real
Why couldn't it be another shitpost just like the last hundred times we've had this thread?
>Live action
It's already dead
Hunter is the perfect zelda. Nobody can post a better option.
Lee Pace should probably get Ganondorf.
Movie will just be Tom Holland and zendaya anyway who gives a fuck.
Her face looks to mature for Zelda herseld, maybe she could be Zelda's mom or Impa.
Stop this fake worrying.
>Her
He doesn't even pass as a normal woman.
>Literally has elf ears
Wtf
Where do you think elves come from?
>Sony working with Nintendo
I'm finding this hard to believe
>Zelda
Taylor Momsen
>Ganondorf
Brian Thompson
>movie
Meh. A series would for the LoZ format mich better.
>Introduction episode
>ep 2-4 link gets the typical pre-sale thingies and master sword
>ep 4-10 limp does the temples with some slice of life or other things thrown in
>ep 11 showdown prep
>ep 12 showdown
>ep 13 happily ever after
Perfect for a cour.
this
Make it a series and focus on characters and world-building.
The overarching story of stopping ganon and/or gathering the mcguffins isn't the interesting/fun part of Zelda.
I bet my two balls that Ganondorf is a white guy.
Live action Zelda already exists. It's called Legend of Neil and it was kino.
it should be animated. it's so fucking stupid to try to do this series in live action. look how well the mario animated movie worked. just do that again for zelda, make it a little darker and weirder and boom you've got another hit. It's going to suck dick as a live action
Yeah it's gonna he full of CGI slop anyways so may as well animate the whole thing.
Prime Elsa Jean as Zelda and Mandingo as Ganondorf
>live action instead of animated
its success is definitely not guaranteed a genuine misstep by nintendo seeing as how terrible modern animated movies are
What if is kino like LOTR trilogy?
Many people said would be impossible to adapt it to movie before it was released.
It has no chance of being Kino. Not with its current production crew.
>people would want a Zelda to movie to just be a game they've played a dozen times and follow Link pushing around blocks
You're all retarded. It needs to be an original story pulling themes from different games.
Do we know yet if it will be based on any of the games or just an original story like Edgerunners? I really have the feeling it'll be a completely new story maybe with references to the games at best.
>link will talk in the movie
I HATE IT
I FUCKING HATE IT
Yeah but I mean everyone felt the same way about Mario but him talking ended up being the least offensive thing about that movie.
because it was a animated movie
this is live action filth which is the worst thing they could have gone with
What if he is like Clint Westwood in the A Fistful of Dollars. A few words kind of guy?
As long as they don't completely fucking ruin his personality, he'll be fine.
>inb4 Link doesn't have a personality
Each Link in every major 3D entry blatantly possesses their own unique personality, you just have to have basic narrative comprehension and an IQ over 100 to see it. Hell Nintendo literally spells it out for BoTW Link through the usage of Zelda's diary entries.
Most Links don't have any personality beyond barebones
>imma good boi and im courageous
Even BotW Link doesn't actually have a personality outside of the flashbacks and his journal entries, which mostly got sanitized in the non-JP versions anyways.
unless...
oh my god. if they made Link a silent autist like the guy from Drive it would be hilarious
Which Link would fit the bill for an autistic "Drive" type anyway?
BoTW Link is the obvious choice but OoT Link is another good fit.
Honestly an almost perfect fit for an adult Link at least in terms of wooden expressions. But he should be spared up for the inevitable Half-Life movie since he'd be an even better Gordon.
Too old obviously.
it's inevitable. link already talks to a lot of people in these games
It's canon that Link can talk, he just kind of refuses to unless it's absolutely necessary.
>Mario Movie referenced Super Show
>We might hear Link saying this line when he first meets Zelda
Frightening times we're living in.
>Live action
Based. It will bomb and hopefully poison Nintendo on movies for another three decades.
Where on the timeline will it go?
FLOPPA incoming
I'd love to see Andre Braugher as Ganon
>Live action
why
the Mario movie was great (from what I heard) and a financial success. what gave them the impression that live action is the right move here?
link - some nagger tranny in a wheelchair
zelda - some blonde white hoe
ganon - some white dude
>not one McKenna Grace for Zelda
She's not british that's why. Has she done a good english accent somewhere?
Dylan Sprouse?
>Dylan Sprouse as both Link and Yozora.
Would be the ultimate "our guy"
Who should play Midna?
Warwick Davis in drag
what if they hire Aimyon to be Zelda
I swear to fuck if it's a fucking Isekai.
Besides Chalamet, does Hollywood have a guy androgynous enough to play Link?
They are gonna pull some dumb shit and cast Brie Larson as Zelda.
>Brie Larson as Zelda
they're saving her for Samus
The Marvels flopping will make sure she won't bag the Samus role.
I would unironically prefer a somwhat cute black girl over Brie Larson
Well you're getting neither. Either you get washboard ass Brie Larson or ugly chimp monkey diversity pick
And she'll be the protagonist while link is a weak retard
>CGI Zora girls
sexo or nightmare fuel
Behold, your Zelda
>Officially announced by Nintendo
Where's the official announcement?
https://twitter.com/Nintendo/status/1722011980129779795
Not much of an announcement.
That's how movie announcements go.
They get announced incredibly early before anything really has been decided.
Why didn't this happen for the last Nintendo movie?
It literally did.
https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/958878633652731904
Mario movie got announced in 2018.
That's a bigger announcement than the Zelda one. At least it has an image.
>we're slowly but steadily going back to the videogame movie era
Ryan Gosling is the perfect Adult Link
If Zelda became a live action movie in the 90s to early 2000s, Leonardo DiCaprio would've been the perfect Link
Looks like cringe is back on the menu boys!
My vote for Ganon was Willem Dafoe. But that's when I thought it was a CGI movie. Not sure now.
what are the odds that the Zelda movie will be blackpilled about women and relationships?
Did you see the Mario movie?
Link is going to be a bumbling idiot instead of a stoic hero
Literally all they had to do was work with Studio Ghibli
Lol, the world is not big enough to have both Miyamoto's ego and Miyazaki's ego on the same room.
Let's face it, a big Hollywood live action movie is going draw a much bigger crowd than anime shit.
Why would it? Zelda's main demographic is weebs and (man)children who love cartoons.
They've been borrowing everyting they could from Nausicäa and Laputa with BotW and TotK, so if that didn't flatter the old man into working with them, nothing will.
Don't forget Mononoke
True.
Doesn't Miyazaki hate vidya? I know he hates Otakus for being shut-ins and iirc he blames video games as much as anime for it.
He hates everything that isn't himself, airplanes, and Anno, who he can spend all day with talking about how much they hate their fans.
The guy who made Tingle back when he was with Nintendo says they should get says they should get Masi Oka to play him
https://twitter.com/ima_1966/status/1722048952244318459
I hope they will cast away the terrible idea of a Zelda live action film altogether before it wastes too much of anyone's time
I should have never used that monkey's paw.
Sorry lads, all I wished was that Illumination wouldn't animate the Zelda movie.
So now we get a Sony Pictures co-financed live action shitfest instead.
Shame on you, anon.
I think an animated movie based on Wind Waker would've been perfect.
Wind Waker already borrows 70% of its visuals from an existing animated feature.
Which one?
Wanpaku Oji no Orochi
Could you post an example please?
The full movie is available on YouTube and cited by several on the Zelda team as a key inspiration.
Watch it for yourself. It is mondo cute.
I don't trust any men that describe something as cute.
Kind of a special attitude from someone wanting to see an danimated Wind Waker feature, but okay.
It's not like I can defend myself as being any sort of trustworthy individual.
What part is supposed to look like Wind Waker?
I'm still waiting for an answer
I'm still waiting.
>let's make a movie based on one of the lesser selling entry in the series that put a dent in the zelda brand back in the day instead of the actual popular ones like oot or botw
Yeah good idea
>Live Action
So it's confirmed that it'll be terrible
Yes.
But then, every feature length game adaption is.
Why is the announcement from some random Blue checkmark and not, say, Nintendo's own Twitter?
Isn't thr director the guy that did the resident evil movies?
If so, zelda will be his wife, like every movies he does has his wife kissing other men.
>Sony is releasing it
Wow. Halo movie with Sony when?
Bro your HaloTM series?
Based off the Mario casting and Sony’s typical tendies, they’re going to go with big names close to the studio, Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are the most likely for Zelda. For Link, I have no idea, I doubt they’ll use Holland again, maybe Glen Powell.
While Zendaya is very fitting for Chani in Dune, I dont' want to see her as Zelda.
can't wait for epic girlboss zelda and retarded and incompetent white male link
ADAM SANDLER AS LINK. NO EXCEPTIONS
>Ganondorf waiting for the final battle
If it's not a bunch of Asians, I'm going to laugh my ass off and then never watch it.
Zelda is basically just an Arthurian grail cycle. It could genuinely be an epic movie but we all know they're going to mess it up thanks to swarthoids, israelites and Marxism
Why live action? Why Zelda? I have zero excitement over this and I question why anyone would, except that they're tiny baby children.
Have you canvassed the opinions of tiny baby children?
Children would hate to watch a live action Zelda. They'd prefer a cartoon.
Ask any kid who saw the original Mario movie.
I will have a grand mal seizure and toss my popcorn bag into the air if Morshu appears for even one frame.
The Mario movie was great because it was like the games, what the fuck are Nintendo share holders smoking.
He should be Link
Link doesnt have hunter eyes
Wrong
Yes he does.
he is wearing eyeliner and has girly anime eyes
Wrong.
>Live action
So Link will be black?
Cool, just like the Mario movie, I will be engaging with it in no capacity whatsoever. Cheers!
James Deen as Link
Charlotte Sartre as Zelda
Ella Hollywood as Mipha
Christian XXX as Ganondorf
Yasmin Lee as Urbosa
live action zelda and mgs movies have been "announced" literally every other year since like 2003.
>live action zelda movies have been "announced" literally every other year since like 2003
Show me where the last official Zelda movie announcement was, prior to this one.
im not not in charge of educating you, tendie
ill believe this movie is happening when I see a full trailer
>No proof
Thanks for admitting you were wrong. Miyamoto said this one is true, which has never happened before.
okay
I'll still only believe it when I see a trailer
You were just lying/incorrect.
>live action
It’s gonna be so shit
>boomers thinking this will be OOT and not BOTW
Midna - Yvette Nicole Brown
Tingle - Peter Dinklage
Ganondorf - M. night Shyamalan
Zelda - Ruby Rose
Link - Charlie Chaplin
awkwafina as zelders
I can't believe they're not doing animated after Mario.
I mean I'm glad, but I still can't believe it.
>I mean I'm glad
Why?
Because I originally wanted a live-action Legend of Zelda.
Why?
You said a lot of words. But none of them said why you want a live action Zelda movie.
Because I want to look up Link's skirt and see real balls.
K. That's really funny.
See
AI post.
prove it, nigga
>sony owns a portion of zelda now
Just give me 90+ minutes of that and we're good
It always comes back to this trailer for me, we could've gotten a full blown battle shounen with Zelda.
The only acceptable casting for Link is Ryan Gosling.
It's gonna be awful
why even make a live action movie?
>it's gonna be capeshit tier
>it's gonna cost the entire gross domestic product of a country
>greenscreen every single scene
>it will be an awful casting, with out of character protagonists
>link will have a voice and will quip
I already hate it so much
fuck hollywood, fuck americans and fuck marvel, they runied movies forever
Link
>Chris Kattan
Zelda
>Amy pohler
Ganon
>will Ferrell
Tingle
>Tracy morgan
>Live action
>officially announced
>check source
>it's financial report dodging a question
I hate journos so goddamn much
What the hell are you talking about? Announcing a production studio, producer, and director is going way farther than dodging a question.
This will be the end of an era of girls liking Link, mark my words
Girls?
What tone would you want for this and what tone do you think they will go with?
Pic related it's warcraft the movie, it was a (mostly) well developed movie with high production value
Normies liked it for what it was, and warcraftfags like myself felt it was competent and like 80% faithful to the source material
it all depends on the tone of the story
Zelda has a wide range of source material, from playful and adventurous, to epic and fantastic, they even made dark and sorrowful storylines. it all depends on what miyamoto wants honestly
I wish they made an adaptation of Ocarina of Time, or the original zelda in a epic and fantastic setting with an adult Link
if they wen the route of young/toon link it should have been animated
but my bet is in a raw adaptation of the setting and tone of Breath of the wild and Tears
this is what they're gonna do, it's the zelda zoomshits and open world slaves praised to hell and back, they have the british zelda, the four anime like guardians, the story should write itself
it was the rare case where the director was actually a WoW addict. The movie was still ass.
>What tone would you want for this
LOTR
>what tone do you think they will go with
Chris Pine's D&D
Mostly serious with some comedic moments, basically like a traditional fantasy movie but i dont know if kids would find that boring
link is going to be played by a black, and Zelda will be a lesbian played by a Latina
Rememer that in this thread, right now are people who are excited for a movie about a game with an incosistend setting, about story told in about 20 lines of dialogue and with the most common trope that will be subverted (again) because its sexist.
They can't even make it a comedy for children like Mario.
I thought Nintendo were happy with killing the formula off but no of course they have to desecrate its corpse as well...owari da
>base the movie off OOT or LttP era
>it bombs
>guess no one wants epic adventure Zelda anymore, Ubisoft clones from now on wwwww - Aonuma
is Link an incel?
I actually worked with the company that was hired to co-write this.
>”Link saving Zelda” dynamic was deemed proplematic, so Link won’t be in.
>Last I was involved they were entertaining two options: Link dies in the beginning, as a comedic relief caricature of silent hero trope, or Link appears in the end as a teaser.
>2 heroes are Zelda and a renegade gerudo thief on the look for a husband.
>Ganondorf they were still debating if they should cast as a black guy or white (since he’s a villain)
>They basically had me attend the ”creative direction meeting” weekly with the japanese involved, but our team was told to basically ignore their feedback.
I doubt Nintendo will ever allow it to see the light of day.
>I actually worked with the company that was hired to co-write this.
Unemployed anon is unemployed.
And I'm trans btw
Nope. Still KIND of diversity hire though. Autist.
>Ganondorf
It'll be Jason Momoa, that's pretty obvious
Remember when this was just a regular rank and file soldier shield and not a blessed, magical, super shield born of the divine dragons under the gods themselves?
How will the movie treat it?
Honestly I have no problem with Gannon being black/latino/oceanic or something in between
as long as they cast a man that looks and acts the part
but then again we all know it's gonna be an awful casting
Test
van evading?
>Link first line of dialogue
>WELL EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME PRINCESS
I think this is the first time anyone has made this joke.
Will they do the scene where Link crossplays as a Gerudo woman and Zelda with a strapon?
>film opens with a modern-day Link getting ready for work
>GEE IT SURE IS BORING AROUND HERE
*horde of Cucco's attack Link*
>you probably wonder how I got in this situation
Remknder that if this movie sucks it's all on Miyamoto since he handpicked everyone involved in it
Didn't IGN make this movie ages ago?
HERO OF TIME!
fuck me
Which ytp was that from?
I'd like to say it's prophetic but I doubt we'll get anything near as good as those 2 minutes.
I wonder if the storyline will be based on mainline games like Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword?
I want to see live-action versions of dungeons like the Forest Temple, Skyview Temple and Water Temple
So was this the thing Jeff Grubb was hyping up as the other Zelda thing unrelated to Tears of the Kingdom?
>Link is played by a cute and boyish girl
>No tranny shit
>Sophia Lillis
Hear me out
Lillis
You have my attention.
yikes
What references are they going to add for retards to clap at?
Don't give them any ideas ffs.
>live action
>maze runner director
Its going to be shallow and look cheap.
Perfect for a Wind Waker or Twilight Princess adaptation
Morgan Freeman, Idris Elba and Willem Dafoe.
Produced by Netflix.
Whenever things like this get announced, I find myself getting mad at (You). Now, why is that?
>Zelda going to be a white blond girl guys!
>IN AN AMERICAN MOVIE!
>MADE IN HOLLYWOOD!
>Believe ME!
Hehe.... HAHAHAHAHAHA
It will be glorious when she isn't.
I'm already preparing the popcorn and the raincoat to protect myself from the tears.
they'll get zendaya or whoever
Nintendo is funding well over 50% of the movie's budget and Miyamoto will be lead producer.
The buck stops with them.
I think the only actors name I've recognised itt is Will Ferrell.
Why in God's name are they doing live action? Mario showed that you can do a perfectly fine 3D animated video game adaptation. It wasn't amazing but it was entertaining enough, which is usually the best you can hope for. I have much less confidence live action can reach even that low bar.
>announces on a random Tuesday that Sony will be disturbing the live action Zelda movie
>The producer of Morbius is assigned to the project
>directed by some studio yes man who directed the shitty Maze Runner trilogy
>refuses to elaborate
>leaves
So once this movie bombs will they finally kick this old fart into a retirement home?
I think they should Cast Aimer as Zelda
It's obviously going to be a BOTW/TOTK adaptation since that's the most popular incarnation and the mold for the future of the series. Best you'll get is some easter eggs and nods towards older games.
>It's obviously going to be a BOTW/TOTK adaptation since that's the most popular incarnation and the mold for the future of the series
OoT is still the most culturally relevant, anon.
Just look at the image used on the tweet, it is from OoT.
Besides, OoT is a good start for the series, because will show how Ganondorf turned into Ganon.
Ryan gosling is Link
Emma Myers is Zelda
Dave Bautista is Ganondorf
Sydney Sweeny is Purah
Jenna Ortega is Riju
Tom Holland is Tulin
Henry Cavill is Sidon
Seth Rogen is Yunobo
Kate Blanchet is Mineru
Viggo Mortensen is Rauru
Alison Brie is Sonia
The Mario movie sucked.
Compared to Sonic? Yeah. Live action works better.
Depends on the clowning. Mario has always been the butt of some in-universe jokes.
>Read Avi Arad is the producer
>Have no idea who the fuck is
>quick google search
>Morbius
It's fucking over....
>Google his name
>Israeli-American
It was over before it began
But Spider-man 2 is the best super hero movie of all time.
Will Sam Raimi be involved in the Zelda movie as well?
I hope so.
>they might actually include cdi jokes >probably going to search for an elderly indian to play as gwonam
Michael B Jordan will play Link in a brave stunning move to make it the first time Link is black.
I want him as ganon
Everybody dance now!
I'm not interested.
Am I the only one excited that its gonna be live action? I think it'll be awesome to get another gritty high fantasy Zelda thing after so long. Last game with a gritty realisticish style was from 2006. Everything onwards has been cartoony or cel shaded. Nothing wrong with that.
No, I'm here, anon. We can enjoy it alone.
Lets fuck, no homo.
EYAH!
I am. You just make it look like Lord of the Rings and it'll be kino
Why the fuck do they keep doing live action shit? Animated would be so much better
Animation is expensive as fuck.
More expensive than getting celebs to play rink?
They'd probably just have A listers voice act like in Mario
Unironically yes. More work is involved with animation vs live action. Just look at how long it took for Spider-Verse 2 to come out compared to the duration between the live action spidey movies.
Normalfags think animation is for children.
Most ppl rather want live action because it would most likely mean the film would be gritty.
If it was animated, best believe were not getting a gritty ass Zelda movie
Animation is just a medium it can be gritty
Everyone complaining that sony is doing this movie when instead they should be celebrating that we dodged a bullet because it could have been done by Disney and be soulless and diverse as fuck. MCU is garbage because those movies abuse green screen instead of actually building the sets irl.
They're NEVER going to make an anime are they?
Why should they? It'd probably be under Netflix and be shitty 3d like Berserk. No thanks.
Anime has a bad reputation of being basically legal softcore porn for underage now. Nintendo figures THEY dodged a bullet.
Now?
They made animated tentacle porn before you were born
The point is that it's way worse now. It's very open about it as well and encouraged by the most insufferable people.
Anime is infinitely more popular than any western animation by leaps and bounds. Eat shit, yid.
Anime movie was the way to go.... there's no way they won't fuck up so bad this movie....
>trailer backing track
chris pratt as link
amanda seyfried as zelda
jennifer aniston as impa
the rock as ganon
THIS SUMMER
THE LEGEND
BECOMES
A REALITY
ON THE BIG SCREEN
GET READY
FOR
HYRULE
LIKE YOU'VE NEVER
SEEN
IT
BEFORE
Stevo for tingle. He comes down on his ballon and talks about how high he used to be and thanks link for grounding him.
Now question is. Which design will they use for Link? Green classic tunic or something akin to botw/totk?
If it's not an all Japanese cast then I'm not interested
Masi Oka for Link. Chow Yun Fat as Ganondorf made to look extremely young almost 15 years old using the indiana jones de aging technology
lets make a bingo chart on how many inserted white characters are black, Gerudo won't even be Middle Eastern but full blown naggers.
Link will be played by a nagger
>people want anime instead of pic related
You all have shit taste
yeah i prefer anime over ai slop
Why does AI does that? The sun is behind him how the fuck is his face lit like that?
Because ai slop gonna slop
They're just going to do the whole stunt casting shit again, not interesting
The rock as Ganondorf. Didn't hear it from me
gilbert gottfried as tingle
He's dead, anon.
They've reanimated corpses with AI before, they can do it again.
>that one anon who inadvertently killed him because he said he should play Shadow the hedgehog
Lmao
That's really tragic, power should be wielded responsibly.
ayo *smacks lips* finna bouta post da real cast:
- kendrick lamar as link
- rihanna as zelda
- 50 cent as ganondorf
- missy "misdemeanor" elliot as impa
- eddie murphy as tingle
Actually Eddie Murphy as Tingle would be hilarious.
>Hey Link..... LINK! I'm scared man, I can't take hyrule field at night..... the skeletons, the ghosts.... ah man, hold me Link, HOLD ME!
Ridley Scott's Legend is already a better Zelda movie than anything hollywood could make today.
Ideally? Hmm.
>Link - Thomas brodie sangster
>Zelda - Thomasin McKensie
>Ganon/Ganondorf - Andy Garcia
>Tingle - Hunter Schaffer
>Voice of the great deku tree - Laurence Fishburne
Idris Elba as Ganondorf confirmed
I'm mostly just worried if they're going to make a manly Link or they're going to pander to the Twitcord interpretation of him.
Cool it with the antisemitism.
Live action? Aren't they over playing their hand, Mario was cgi
Mario is a goofy manlet whose powers effectively boil down into magic. Link swordfights and uses tools, rides a horse, so it's obviously more down-to-earth.
Cool! A game with no story at all now being made into a medium where you sit and watch a story! Awesome!
For a board that hates goyslop, they sure love to gobble it down
Of course, because if the general public end up hating, Ganker will pretend it's a misunderstood masterpiece.
>live action
I swear nintendo hates zelda at this point.
I just want something creative and not the same safe hollywood 'appeal to the widest possible demographic' movie they've made for the last 20 years.
if the games don't provide that why would a movie touch on those topics?
Because it would be interesting.
Trying to do a big long adventure of a fundamentally very simple story is retarded.
They're not gonna adopt a specific game anyway, and even if they were, they would need to massively rework the story to fit a <2h movie.
The whole appeal of Zelda is a big long hero's jorney. It's appeal of exploration. I feel like you can't really get that in a not-crazily-long movie. So why not do some other story with other stuff from Zelda that people care about? Like it's characters and lore.
