no they absolutely fucking were not. Vanguard is, to this day, the only post-4 CoD game I never reached prestige 1 in because I hated playing it so much. What they did to the World at War maps they added (Dome and Castle) is a goddamn travesty, and pic related might be the worst map in the entire series. Even the worst maps of lesser games like Ghosts, Infinite Warfare and MWII are still better than the majority of Vanguard's maps. IMO the only half-decent Vanguard map was Gavutu, and even that wasn't very good.
Even the total snoozefest that was WWII was universally better than Vanguard. It takes effort to make such a viscerally bad CoD game.
I actually had fun with WW2, but I played it after that Humble Bundle and apparently rework or something.
I have to say that the cosmetics (characters) were actually pretty great, mostly historical.

Probably never, population was at its peak during the aIW days and it never recovered since. I haven't seen more than 300 concurrent players on IW4x regardless of the time of day.
