how does it interact with Protean anyway? can Greninja get double-STAB on any type?
She's been dexcut.
It doesn't change with Protean so I don't know what op is yammering about. And the only 2 mons who could use Tera type Adaptability are like Porygon-Z and Basculegion
>And the only 2 mons who could use Tera type Adaptability are like Porygon-Z and Basculegion
Tera type doesn't change, but the pokemon's actual underlying type does.
Even if Greninja is forced to sit out two generations in a row, Cinderace will be in SV because the gen 7 starters were all in SwSh.
>1.5x to 2x is double
>2x is double
Y-yeah?
double stab would multiply into eachother, the total STAB multiplier would be 2.25x
That isn't how damage bonuses are calculated, anon. It's an additive equation.
Explain how
1.5x1.5 = 2.25
That’s how much of a bonus Regieleki gets on Electric attacks because it gets the ability multiplier and the STAB multiplier.
to be fair he said double BONUS not double dmg
so since the bonus is additive it would be double bonus
Stab is 1.5.
If you double that, it's 3.
50% + 50% = 100%, moron.
I feel like we're talking about different numbers here. What's being doubled?
If STAB is being doubled, then it's 1.5*1.5, or 2.25.
If damage is being doubled after STAB, then it's 1.5*2, or 3.
Boosting twice becoming 2x only works for stat boosts. Raise attack once, and it's 1.5x. Raise it twice, and it's 2x.
STAB is being doubled, not squared. 50% + 50% for a 100% bonus, or 2x.
Where are you getting the information that the multipliers will be added rather than stacked?
They've never done that before.
They've literally never not had multipliers be additive. Ever.
You're completely wrong.
Think of Dracovish, which is centered on stacking multipliers.
Fishious Rend is 170 BP if it goes first. 1.5x from STAB, 1.5x from Strong Jaw, 1.5x from Choice Band, and 1.5x from rain. That's effectively 860 BP.
If it worked the way you think it does, each buff would add 85 BP, making the effective BP "only" 510.
Atleast someone in this thread actually plays the game, holy shit.
>no pokémon with Protean/Libero will exist in SV
>Greninja, one of, if not, the most popular Pokémon, cannot be used in any core series Switch game
That definitely sounds like something GameFreak would do.
WTF WERE THEY THINKING?
>Pokemon can change type of the fly.
Basically every turn is a leap of faith because your x4 thunderbolt on Gyarados can become useless if it changes to ground and OHKO your electric Pokemon with STAB Earthquake
>Broken Pokemon can get insane coverage with Teramoves
Regileleki can turn Ice, therefore STAB Ice Tera move + Transistor thunderbolt
>Pokemon with certain abilities can become a pain to deal with
Shedinja with Normal/Electric only has 1 weakness
Any Pokemon can get a free set up by turn to Fire or Steel or Electric to become immune to burns, poison or paralysis
Any Pokemon with x4 weakness can switch type on the fly. Dragonite is x4 weak to Ice? No problem, now you become steel with multiscale.
It only happens once a battle.
Shedinja will not make the cut.
WTF WERE THEY THINKING?
>Pokemon can change type of the fly.
One of their Pokemon can tera per battle. I guarantee Tera types will be placed on team selection vs screen so you know what has what.
>Broken Pokemon can get insane coverage with Teramoves
>Regileleki can turn Ice, therefore STAB Ice Tera move + Transistor thunderbolt
Or, Regileleki can just go Tera Electric And gain extra stab on top of Transistor, which is more likely.
>Pokemon with certain abilities can become a pain to deal with
>Shedinja with Normal/Electric only has 1 weakness
Weather, Your own Tera Type
>Any Pokemon can get a free set up by turn to Fire or Steel or Electric to become immune to burns, poison or paralysis
Any Pokemon with x4 weakness can switch type on the fly. Dragonite is x4 weak to Ice? No problem, now you become steel with multiscale.
You would have to use your one use of Tera on turn 1 just to ignore getting burned? Sure, go ahead and do that, nice waste of your gimmick
I’m excited, it’ll turn the game into something more than weakness exploitation and switching featuring stall
>the opponent can never ever know which Pokemon will trasform and which type they will become
I think they can make an educated guess.
Tera type is static unless you change it out of combat with an item. moron. So if a Tera Type with Protean even exists it's not going to change it's Tera Type once you've Teralyzed it.
You only get the Super STAB if the Tera Typing matches one of the originals.
So you if you have Volcarona with a Fire Tera Type, it will have only the Fire STAB, which boosts Fire moves by 2 instead if 1.5. How ever, you lose your Bug STAB in the process as well.
>the opponent can never ever know which Pokemon will trasform and which type they will become
We don't know that, PVP might show the Tera Type in the preview. And in PVE unpredictability is nice.
If there is literally no way to see the Tera type, this will be insta banned by Smogon and be fricking cancer for doubles
If you can see it during the battle preview, this makes things much more fair, but the power boost from same type Tera still remains passive
Rather than promoting strategies, it's way more likely that Weather/Terrain + Choice item unga bunga will be the preferred way to go
Like what is gonna survive a Solar Power Choice Specs Fire Blast from Charizard? Your Flash Fire Arcanine who can't do shit back and dies to Scorching Sands?
