On a 3DS or emulated with a proper analog stick, yes.

I've played both. N64 version is better. I guess the multiplayer minigames were okay though.

    >can speed through the game with Luigi
It was significantly easier, but I did have fun

True. Better graphics, more content, more levels, more characters, mini games. Sure the control scheme is worse, but it's not that terrible.

It will be when someone eventually ports all the content to the PC version.

    >Butchers the artstyle because the DS couldn't handle textures that weren't pixelated as frick
    >Controls like ass because of D-Pad, came with a fricking run button
    >One of the big selling points of the game (multiple characters) is run thin due to the game often forcing you to switch for power-up reasons (or sometimes, just arbitrary reasons like BitS), always breaking the pace by either forcing you to cap hunt or by going into the castle and entering a door
    >Character balance is completely skewed, Wario is total dogshit and Yoshi's egg gimmick is nearly pointless while Luigi completely breaks the game's level design
    >Most new stars can boil down to either "Do a star that already existed but with another character" or "Find silver stars around the level" which red coins already did
    >Bottom screen map completely takes away any sense of exploration the original had
    >NSMB has the minigames anyway which takes away from the novelty
If Super Mario 64 DS has a million haters, then I am one of them. If Super Mario 64 DS has ten haters, then I am one of them. If Super Mario 64 DS has only one hater then that is me. If Super Mario 64 DS has no haters, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is for Super Mario 64 DS, then I am against the world.

Based. 64DS's soulless artstyle is the worst fricking thing about it.

I've been admitting it for years. I don't know how anyone can think that fricky slog of a control scheme in the 64 version is better than this. ANYTHING is better than that.

Also the new stars are fun too. 🙂

    >physics fricked up and not fun

it does have more content but its 5/10 at best

The only redeeming quality isn't even part of the main game. And all the minigames were also available on New Super Mario Bros, with a few extras.

No, it just isn't very good. People say it's better because it has more characters, but they don't do anything to improve the game. The new levels are no good either. Then the controls are just a mess. The game was a glorified tech demo. Rather than thinking of what game could benefit from the unique features of the DS they just slapped the only 3D Mario game that could run on it.

The real hard to swallow pill is that M64DS fricked up the physics and even with a fixed control scheme it just isn't as fun and fluid as the original

    The minigames were fun tho

There's a patch that lets you use analog movement now. Pretty comfy on my 3ds.

It was good. People who cry about muh analog controls are babies. Analog sticks are stupid and killed the industry.
