I bought two copies of Cyberpunk 2077 the other day. I can safely say it is a great gameplay experience now, and would recommend it to all gamers. See you in Night City.

Absolutely. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most immersive RPG games I've ever played. It has graphics, It has gameplay, and it has music. It's so atmospheric, moody and most of all very Cyberpunk.

Currently playing as a Corpo right now with stealth/silencer weapons.

OP, I'm about to start my 12/9 shift so I can't play but I'm going to make a new character completely different from my first run and just enjoy and have fun. I've reached the point where I've forgotten enough of the game for it to feel fresh again.

Because it's broken, unballanced, the map was't really made to accomodate for it, it's incredibly easy to get accidentally stuck or break a mission or encounter.
You can have some fun with it as a mod, but you have to be doing that knowing the potential risks, because making it work on a basic level, and making the whole game safely accomodate for it are two entirely different tasks.

I played it back on 1.5 and was actually enjoying it a lot, until a bug fricked my save. Had around 30h on it.

The game is good with mods to take away all of it's god awful UI. Stuff like healthbars above the enemies and all of the cluttered shit on-screen makes the game much less immersive. Its annoying that they put all of this time in to this state of the art open world with unparalleled detail and half of the screen is cluttered by ugly UI elements 99% of the time. Rockstar understood to not do this years ago.

Theres also a mod that adds in-world navigation arrows so you dont need the minimap either.

If you truly want to enjoy cyberpunk:

    >Download the in-world navigation mod
    >download the hideui mod
    >download the get rid of enemy health bars mod
    >download the minimal scanner mod
    >download the get rid of low health fx mod
    >download huditor so you can place the ui elements where you want them
    >download the get rid of crouch vingette mod

then, only then the game can be kino

      Anonymous

Of all the games to go no hud muh UI autist over you pick one where the clutter is an intentional in-universe design choice.

The last one I don't mind as much, since there are a lot of incomplete movesets/mechanics. But the first two are annoying.

      Anonymous

      >Stealth
Yeah. The game's biggest problem, the enemy A.I., was actually already fixed a while ago, with 1.5. Stealth isn't great, but it's perfectly functional now, and the A.I. does not go mental auto-locking onto you if you do get spotted. There still isn't much depth to it, sound is a binary affair, light and shadow play very little role, it's mostly a "stay crouched to negate sound and keep out of line of sight" affair.
The levels are very well designed to accomodate for that at least.
      >Gorilla arms
Not sure what was wrong with them aside from being boring as frick. I used them occassionally to cheeze the fight club missions.
      >Random crashes
I stopped having issues with crashes since 1.3, even when I used a bunch of minor mods.

What I noticed though when boxing, well normally the arms you can quick punch 5 times in a row, normally its only three, and you get a power bar indicator, but all that disappeared when I was boxing, it just reverted back to 3 hit combos and no power bar. Cheesed it anyway, stunlocked them by punching them in the back repeatedly

          Anonymous

          >gorilla arms became disabled during the boxing matches.
No way. Not unless they massively nerfed those matches because they're basically impossible without gorilla arms. You just don't do any damage without them not can you tank their hits.

            Anonymous

They did with me, dont knwo if it was a bug or intentional. I literally saw my arms revert to normal when I entered fight and then switch back after, and they killed me in 2 punches. I got through it but it was annoying.

      >I started corpo did I mess up ?
      Nah.
The game isn't great about integrating these different backgrounds into the story, with Corpo being by FAR the most fun and interesting one, giving you most alternate quest solution path, most funny optional dialogues, and generally the best insight into the world as well.

The other two backgrounds are comparatively just fricking weak, to a point where I would argue the game might have not even bothered. Seriously, either implement these backgrounds as equally as interesting, or drop the pretense and just make Corpo the only default option and use the time saved on something else.

CP77 isn't a bad game, but it has a lot of issues like this.

I'm enjoying it literally for the photomode and the parkour stealth. It's basically let me play as the cyborg ninja I've always been obsessed over since MGS4, as well as a modern day Assassins Creed they always baited us over but always pussied out in the end.
The wall hanging mod is ABSOLUTELY required if you want to actually platform though. Lets you actually climb buildings like to the top of pic related. It's made the game for me

Yeah the point was its perfectly fine without mods, and anyway its fairly common for people to mod other shit like fallotu and skyrim, so saying you goota mod it to enjoy it, so what, some people feel the same about those games but they're still fine and played years later, because of the ability to mod.

          >How would I know what mods I really want/need without actually playing it myself?
In case of CP77, there is quite a lot of minor but annoying QoL things that really need mods to fix them. Basic shit, like setting up minimap to automatically open in vehicles, and close outside of them. Or having decent and sensible key bindings.

            Anonymous

            >Basic shit, like setting up minimap to automatically open in vehicles, and close outside of them.
Why would you not want the minimap active outside vehicles? It contains all sorts of very useful information when on foot, e.g. where enemies are located.

              Anonymous

              >Why would you not want the minimap active outside vehicles?
Because it's immersion breaking and annoying me? I prefer to explore and orient myself in the invironment by my own means, by actually paying attention to it.

I would ideally not want it even in the vehicles, but the game has no other reliable way to guide you in the rather nightmareshly sprawling street network, so it's pretty much a necessary evil.

One mod that shoudl be in the game related to that is on-road gps markers. I mean, you literally get that feature when doing th races, so ITS IN THE GAME, but doesnt do it normally. Missed many a corner because of watching the minimap and it not updating fast enough.

                >I mean, you literally get that feature when doing th races, so ITS IN THE GAME, but doesnt do it normally.
That shit is probably hardcoded. It's not a hard thing to develop on screen GPS prompts but there's a lot of relatively basic shit that has been in every game for years now but is missing in Cyberpunk.

                Anonymous

Yeah there is a mod for it, just seems like a basic ommision when it would also make sense in world due to the cybereyes

                Anonymous

If it's there in the game but they've turned it off normally it's probably because it's unreliable or causes a memory leak or crashes or something. I don't know why you would turn it off unless it's actually causing a problem.

On the other hand, I have no idea why they disabled fire selection for the guns either. Lot of strange design decisions were made for this game. Ones I don't understand at all.

                Anonymous

Well maybe for the races it is hard coded because its always the same route. But the modders managed to make a visual on-road navigation marker alright.

Another thing that is in the game but not used properly is trafiic ability to move around staionary objects. If you stop in the road, they stay stopped behind you forever, making no attempt to go around you. But if you attacjk them, puch their car or something, they go into escape mode and ..drive around you to get awy. so they CAN drive around you, they just..don't

NOTHING HAS IMPROVED IN THE ACTUAL GAME. Nothing that matters anyway.

Let me explain what the frick is wrong with Cyberpunk since you CDPR shills still don't get it.
It's not the bugs. The bugs were just easy to screenshot. It's the utter fricking disappointment in how little there is to DO in the game.

There's Hideo Kojima sitting in a hotel bar early in the game. Famous cameo. You can't talk to him or interact with him in any way. He's just sitting there.
Why can't I speak to him? Why can't I pull my gun and kill him? Why can't I pick up a chair and throw it at him? Why can't I do any of that to anybody in this bar? It's just window dressing. Fricking worthless. You should not have made a bar if I can't kill everyone in that bar. I don't even remeber if I could order a drink there. If I could it sure as frick wouldn't DO anything.
That's what's wrong with Cyberpunk. That's what you need to overhaul in every location of the game. In every location you should be able to interact with every NPC and every object in 10 ways. Once you have that, then you got a good game. Even if it's buggy it becomes good because it becomes fun and interesting.

And this is why, 11 minutes after spending money on this game and downloading it, I uninstalled.
Game started in some graphically pleasing bar with pretty neon lights and detailing. Tried to walk around a bit and get a drink, talk to NPCs and start a fight.
The most stale fricking game I’ve ever seen let alone in an RPG. Even in Pokémon Red the NPCs had better scheduling and dialog. I mean holy shit. I cannot fathom how much weed I’d have to smoke to find this game even slightly immersive.
It enraged me because if they just made fallout 3 again with these graphics it’d be one of the best games ever made, if not the best.

Your logic is that the game is garbage because it does not allow you to do this one meaningless action in a middle of a story setup that would break the story.

Everything that is there in game is irrelevant because you created a completely arbitrary, completely meaningless "requirement" that would not actually benefit anything, and the game did not meet it, because it would be a waste of time trying to accomodate it.

Great. It's a perfect illustration of the fact that you fricks don't actually play games. You just make up moronic, pathetic excuses to whine about them.

Not much smart gun specific perks, just build for pistols / rifles whatever type of smart gun it is.

Stealth is basically crouching behind people and snapping their necks and then dumping them in a crate, or hacking them blind and then snapping their neck and dumping them in a crate, or jumping on them from above and snapping their neck and etc

I know. But I can't run DLSS on my 1650S. I can run FSR on it though. The result of that is me being able to set things somewhere between medium and high and still get 60fps on a years old budget card and unless there's some rare checkerboard pattern image clarity mostly comes out fine.

So I bit. I admit it. Reinstalled, played for 2 hours. Here's what I experienced in that short amount of time.
    >Car control is still fricked, I am completely baffled this wasn't revamped yet.
    >Cars still appear out of thin air, which is a problem at high speed as they'll be impossible to dodge
    >collision physics on cars is still completely broken, you will often see cars crash out from a simple touch or by running on a kerb
    >Cars still spawn in walls/lamp posts/other geometry
    >Random pedestrians t-posing in the middle of the street because cars don't load properly, seems to be in one neighborhood mostly.
    >Ragdoll physics is still broken, seems pickup up body still causes issues with bodies jerking or flying off
    >Couldn't save my game because for some reason the save menu wouldn't generate the slots, just a blank screen with the background. Had to roam around for a few minutes and try again for it to appear correctly.
    >Tons of little issues, like enemies firing invisible weapons, or the gun magazine floating a feet away from the enemy's gun, or dialog not playing properly, or NPC's playing on invisible tablets, or NPC's straight up disappearing in front of you, etc. Too numerous to list.
    >Still no police AI of any sort from what I could see
    >Still no activities that you can do in the open world to interact with the city.
    >Actually, from what I saw nothing of value was even added. I saw a new quest to buy a car that wasn't there before, but that's it.
All of this was what I saw in two (2) hours of playing this game for the first time since early 2021. I could literally not spend five minutes without something happening. How is it fixed, again?

Then I have spent an insane amount of money for a potato. Nobody is talking about fps, we are talking about the game putting unchanging enemy spawns right in front of your face, and minor engine based glitches that occur in every open world game, the complaint being with now numerous they are. But you'll hide even those thinking it somehow makes you seem MORE sane.

I literally never had that. There is something funky with your settings.
I am notoriously speeding 200 mph on a Night City highway and I never had a situation that a car spawned right in front of me. The only time I crash into something is due to my fault.
But I guess I am really lucky that my potato laptop handles this game so well.

I hate myself for defending this game but if you don’t have an SSD in 2022 then frick off, poorgay tier. And I’m not some bugman with a 5k setup. SSDs are completely standard now.

Yea CP2077 is just a game that requires an SSD to function properly. Night City isn't breathtaking otherwise.

I'm genuinely starting to think you all really are paid shills at this point, and that's pretty schizo for me. The problem never was the bugs, but the content itself. Only a handful of quality side missions, and then the main missions to go through. No "RPG experience," just a wannabe movie game with a pretty empty world with nothing to do in it. Complete the main story mission and there's no other reason to keep playing the game.
Tell me they did some much content overhaul to make the game more like they promised, in the same vein No Man's Sky did, and I'll actually believe your bullshit.

This. Normalgays who never played New Vegas or Deus Ex are the only ones enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 because their only criterion for quality is how buggy it is, it is a completely watered down experience that has little to no actual RPG elements to it, it would have been 10x better if they gave up on trying to be an RPG and just became wannabe linear story sci-fi GTA, instead we got an unfocused mess. Never forget what they actually promised.

Of all the Deus Ex games, you bring up the kiddie Human Revolution, with its railroaded gameplay. At least have a decency to bring up DX 1 with it's superior open-ended design.
Also, most of those augs are gimmicky as frick and that speech augmentation is fricking useless, because you have to be a total idiot to botch the conversation challenge.

I was always planning to wait for it to be patched up then buy it on a steam sale. I'll get around to watching the anime then buy the game on the next good steam sale.

In the mean time I've finally gotten into playing Fromsoft games thanks to elden ring and I still have DS2 and Sekiro to play after beating all the others.

      >I'll get around to watching the anime then buy the game on the next good steam sale.
I think it will make a stronger impact after playing the game because of it's very close integration with the game (like locations, sounds even the fricking hacks' UI overlays).

        Anonymous

Yeah, I love how the artists just opened up the game, switch to photo mode, took pictures of the environment and straight up traced them as-is for the anime. Such talent.

          Anonymous

And what should have they done? Make up their own locations that are not in the game?

            Anonymous

How about taking locations from the game, but actually drawing them from reference without resorting to actual fricking tracing? You look at the characters, you see tons of artistic liberties being taken with their anatomy, proportions, etc. But environment are so fricking perfect and symmetrical, it just stands out so much. I look at this I can't unsee it, it just screams pure laziness to me.

          Anonymous

Anon most anime use 3d models to either render or create a base on which to draw their environments. when you have the city already rendered in a game then that's just what you do.

find me a show that doesn't do this and I'll laugh at you for being naïve enough to believe it.

Level progression is fine it's just compared to the main story you'd have to farm close to 3 hours between every main mission. Levels feel like they were build for a game 2-3 times larger than we got.

OK if you just do the main story then yeah, you wont be max level, but theres a bunch of other content like gigs etc, that you seem to consider to be "farming", but its not really. Farming to me is just killing shit for the sake of XP, these are missions and jobs and such. yeah they are optional but its part of the game not just "farming".

Because your character is about to die wants to be remembered, you know, to experience the story this RPG offers. I'm not playing a fricking mmo anon. I'm not trying to grind shit to levelcap. I did beat it in 22 hours and uninstalled, and wondered where the rest of a good game went. The half that felt missing.

No. You're confusing gigs for the NCPD action. A lot of the gigs actually have some branching questlines involved in them.

there are some cool gigs, like one where you sneak up to an office to kill a corpo. They can sound the alarms if you pick a certain dialog option and if you knock them out it makes you fight to the roof where an AV is waiting.

                >uhh you forgot the 3 that give you an extra option or two

Its part of the gaem, that homie saying theres not enough to do in the game to level, calling it "farming"? its part of the fricking game. An optional part sure, but its not the same as grinding on mobs to level. Its optional side story content. If you want to just fire throught main story you can, isnt that great? You have that option. Or you can optionally dso the extra optional stuff and get hogher level. But you dont need to, its optional.

Review form someone who just bought and just finished with the extended tutorial
Combat 7/10:Its ok. the quickhacks are the only thing interesting about so far unless there things im missing or you need cybernetics to have more interesting combat. it still feels to samey to a standard fps. no interesting choices to move around or close in interact with enemies beyond hacks. its still a hide behind cover and play whack a mole with your gun at its core
Story 4/10:Fundamentally the same plot beats are played twice right after each other (at least for Corpo start). You get fricked over by your company and you start over and you get fricked over in the second mission you do and fundamentally start over. They kill off several characters you just met. So far not impressed. exporation makes up for this a bit.
Controls 6/10: Stated earlier that combat still feels very standard ie call of duty esq but vehicles are absolute ass to maneuver. They have some strange acceleration technique on your inputs which frick everything over
Atmospere 8/10: I dont have a problem with how the game looks. The npcs are interesting to me and i dont have a strong preconception of a cyberpunk world is supposed to look like. Im sold enough on it.
Levelling and economy 6/10: Level up seems straight forward though it hard to know if there are useless perk syndrome going on. I dont like the looter shooter design of just ever increasing stats (i guess until level limit if there is a level limit). I would prefer hard set damages on weapons, armor and enemy stats and only your perks and augments to items change them
overall id give it a about of a 6/10 right now

The western games industry is mostly trash these days compared to Japan. But CP2077 is like that rare masterpiece developed outside Japan that comes once or twice in a generation. The game is actually pretty popular in Japan from what I've gathered. Had great launch sales there. Makes sense considered that country's cultural history with the cyberpunk genre.

The point isn't to educate me, the point is to back up what you're saying with some evidence. Saying "I'm right and I shouldn't have to educate you" is not an argument.

What has Japan contributed? Influential works like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed. Foundational scifi works like Metropolis. The entire aesthetic most people associate with Cyberpunk comes from Blade Runner which was heavily Japanese inspired, it's basically just "what if LA and Tokyo fused". Nothing that matters according to who, you? Saying Akira is overrated and reducing its entire existence to Kaneda's bike doesn't take away its obvious influence on every cyberpunk work that came after.

Frick no. People like Ron Cobb weren't just going "What are they doing in Japan? Japan is so awesome! I must just steal everything from Japan!"

I could give you a history lesson on why Japan has its presence in cyberpunk of this period but I couldn't be bothered. I did notice you completely ignored the strong South American element to Blade Runner which was actually a thing too. Does that mean South America is a foundational element of cyberpunk now?

I don't think you understand how referencing works in creative industries. Even some no-name film could reference a big corporate movie if the right people saw the no name almost unknown film.

You seem to be under the impression that only something that made a ton of money and is talked about by everyone on the planet is capable of influencing media. That's not how it works.

Not him but japan went full socialist in the 70's and by the 80's it looked like they were going to become a global superpower so that's why dystopian films had japs in it because they thought the japs were going to take over the world.

At one point a district in Tokyo was worth more than the entirety of Canada due to all the money printing and inflation they were doing. Then their economy collapsed in the 90's and people started hurdling themselves off of rooftops which is where they get that stereotype

You're wrong on two counts. First, we were discussing Akira, not GITS. Second, the Wachowski's never pitched The Matrix by showing GITS to investors. They showed GITS to the film crew and said "We're massive fricking weebs and want our sci-fi film (Matrix is not cyberpunk, by the way) to have an action scene that is a carbon copy of this action scene from this cartoon".
