As someone who makes almost a million a year, you'd be surprised how fast that million can be burned away. You'd need about 3 million my guess to coast forever assuming you kept costs down and had health insurance to cover anything catastrophic (like a 600k bill) in America. The issue is you're fighting a forever war against inflation that is intensifying rapidly and you're hoping nothing hits you that eats your funds. Need to replace the roof to your house, your pipes burst or something major happened? You're already chewing into that first 100k rapidly bit by bit. If you blew just 30,000 a year in survival and minor luxury that million would only last you 30 or so years without inflation increasing your cost of living. In this scenario having a family makes coasting on the million impossible so you better stay a single frick like Notch. If you got the million and worked on top of that savings then you can do it. My advice is always aim to make as much money and burn as bright as you fricking can as fast as possible, it's not some magical curse that turns you into a guy screaming Rosebud. It just can amplify and enable negative traits you already had, IE if you're a gullible idiot with a crack problem and you win the lottery you will lose your money even faster. If you're a scrooge or an egotistical ass that only acted nice because everyone around you was equally miserable as you then you just remain an ass. If you found yourself toying with the idea of eating babies, then the money allows you to act out on eating babies etc.

The words of casuals mean nothing on Ganker, any anon knows that. Minecraft is just a cool sandbox with adventuring elements but that doesn't stop so-called "gamers" from calling it literally one of the best games ever, just like how millennials call Ocarina of Time the best game ever. What's terrible about Minecraft nostalgia is that they generally aren't nostalgic about the game itself as much as they are nostalgic about the youtubers they watched and the servers they played on.

1.2 billion is nothing in an economic system with participants that have infinite money.
You sell anything for 1.2 billion, and you dont have your property but you have 1.2 billion. The israelites decide you haggled too much and pay 1.4 billion dollars to every corporation in the country to hike up the price of anything you want to buy from them to 1.3 billion. Now you cant spend "your" money. Check mate.
    Should've kept the IP.

He rejected the IP because Minecraft® is too big for one man. Merch, toys, legal rights, etc, too much complexity.

You keep the IP just as much for the sake of others not having it as you do to make sure you still do. It's the underlying premise of property. Money on the other hand is just a token indicating your fealty to the banks and the israelites, which they csn choose to ignore since a fealty token is not proof of loyalty.
