>IS it going to come out on steam at some point?
that would be like Nintendo releasing bayo 2 and 3 on PS5. It'll likely never happen. Epic is the publisher for this game and Control 2
I mean, Sony did eventually release the games they published to PC.
There's a point where games are old enough that simply making them available to a wider audience gets you more revenue than hoping for people to use your platform.
Tim's in a bit of a bind especially after all those layoffs. He needs something to make up for the drying up Fortnite money. So he might do it. The problem is he sees Gabe as a competitor, while Sony doesn't.

Epic funded the whole thing including advertising. I think the agreement is that any earnings go to epic till it recoups its investment then anything else is a 50/50 split
>AW2 >good >game is 80% Saga, and she gets all the good exploration parts while Alan get the worst, slowest boring part of the game >the inventory system is ass, and obviously ripped off from RE4 remake hastily with the barebone UI >they also ripped off RE charm system, that doesn't have its own inventory slot >the story is simple. but were convoluted with repetitive narrative and awful pacing >game explain shit to you, but you have to repeat it all over again like a retard while pinning pictures like an 8 years old playing fit the block >dev forgot that this is suppose to be a horror game, so they added a cheap random jumpscare that came out of nowhere >end with a sequal bait
Also Alice being manipulative bitch again. Even though we saved her in the first game, she went inside the lake again to get the power and using her photography she try to lure the dark again to save Alan.
Oh yeah, Remedy being a piece of shit for recasting a FINNISH ACTOR into some niggress that SOMEHOW HALF FINNS EVEN THOUGH SHE LOOKS 100% PURE naggerS.
>SOMEHOW HALF FINNS EVEN THOUGH SHE LOOKS 100% PURE naggerS
ffs she's literally only half black, her mom is actually white, they cast a mixed race actress to play a mixed race character man
Jornos loved it, just compare reviews with Deadly Premonition or Alone in the Dark 2008. It's enough to make a sequel if you want some publicity for your store or a console
I liked it. It had charm. The gameplay was meh but you could tell there was a lot of love for the story and world they made
sums it up for me. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Remedy should just become an animation studio, because at this point the gameplay is a sideshow to the story.
I really like the game, pirated it and have been playing it for the last week. I even like it enough that I'd buy it. Sadly it's on the EGS and I'd rather be shot in the head than buy into another fucking bloatware shit app. Fuck I wish I never got into Steam.
>Fuck I wish I never got into Steam.
What's stopping you from buying from other storefronts? I buy from GOG all the time when I found they exist 4 years ago.
He probably hates Elden Ring and loves Undertale, CoD and The Queer of Us
top kek
Massive projection from a bunch of cock loving fags. I've played Elden Ring and that's it. And I'm not such a loser that I keep up on woke news. When did CoD become woke? I wouldn't know I have better things to do than take Jamal's cock.
Remedy has repeatedly said "it's too soon to tell" how sales are going, which means sales are probably shit
Making it an Epic store exclusive is a guarantee that nobody is going to buy the game, plus all the other reasons listed by
I would be really interested to know how much they got paid by Epic to make the game/release it exclusively on their platform
Sure, but I would be more interested to know what that figure actually amounted to, how much Remedy is getting back in terms of sales, and whether they would have been better off forgoing exclusivity with Epic. That is to say: I'm wondering what would have been more profitable for them: making a failed game but taking Epic's money, or making a successful self-funded game that released on multiple platforms?
Like I said, we already know the answer to everything in regards to the development. Not the cost but the general structure of it. >whether they would have been better off forgoing exclusivity with Epic.
In terms of sales? Obviously, barely anyone uses the epic store outside of playing Fortnite. But then they wouldn't have gotten someone to pay for the entire game's development.
>making a successful self-funded game that released on multiple platforms?
EGS exclusivity is just PC, they do have consoles as well, that said it was never going to be a hit so I think Remedy made the right choice, they get to pay dev salaries for however long the development took, we get another game, and all the risk is on EGS.
I hope so, I want to obnoxiously play the musical segment on my steam deck on an air plane and look over to the person next to me and say "ITS GAME OF THE YEAR, DON'T YOU SEE"
This is actually the second remaster as the Alan Wake PC version came out IIRC in 2013 because Remedy kept Nagging MS for permission. This PC version was much improved from the Console Slop version.
Why do they keep remastering games that are barely a decade old? Are zoomer really that retarded that they can't play a god released just a couple of years ago?
they're creatively bankrupt, or actively hostile to their regular normie customerbase as most developers seem to come straight out of cali. Investors/corps/companies also likely want a product they know will be popular and make cash so they remaster former popular games, for the pre-conceived guaranteed success.
Tbh, it feels like games have gone to shit since 2007, and t.v/film peaked during the late 90s, early 21st century, and its all been downhill, but thats very biased from me.
I like it a lot, just pirate it if you're interested.
I like it a lot, but the ending was rushed and had awful writing. They beat you over the head that Saga is the hero of the story.
It's cool, but I'd be enjoying it a lot more if it didn't keep crashing like a motherfucker
The story and atmosphere is the best shit in years, easily carries mid gameplay and optimization (tho graphics are pretty good too).
>Ganker constantly screeches about “pozzed snoy movie games” and how gameplay is the only thing that matters >yet can’t stop dick-guzzling some trash release that’s 90% cutscenes and walking-talking scenes, watered-down RE4 gameplay, and strong, independent, black woman protagonist with shit writing and a complete lack of tonal consistency
I genuinely don’t know if you braindead homosexuals are actually this terminally retarded or if you homosexuals are just this insufferably contrarian. Either way it’s not even funny anymore given how predictable it’s become. God, I hate this fucking board and what it’s become.
game was funded by EGS, and EGS shills frequent this board daily to shill their shitty store front, you do the math. Just hide and ignore these threads. Nothing useful will ever be gleamed from this tripe.
control was very close to mp 1-2 remedy, but this director kyle rowley drinks sony cum as it tries so hard to be a sony game, but some classic remedy elements poke through inspite of his homosexualry
Control worked precisely because it was a new IP and stretched the wings of the company which was mostly obsessed with movie games for the better part of it's post MP life. In that sense it's sad to see that although i somewhat like Alan Wake II, it's narrative and somewhat functional gameplay, it's still got more DNA from Quantum Break and same jarring issues of the original Alan Wake, just with a prettier coat of paint. In comparison, Control was a great experiment that sold poorly, mostly because everyone fellates that Alan Wake IP, but completely seem to ignore that Control had a good thing going, despite it's minor issues.
Control ii is definitely going to blow the doors off, only because the director of the first control is doing the sequel, which I honestly thought alan wake 2 would have tried to make the game play fun like control. I'm honestly shocked how not fun aw2 is >much like the first game
it's like when gtav was about to come out, I honestly thought they'd use the movement of max payne 3, but they just went totally homo and didn't learn anything from prior games they made

I meant to say that control is very much remedy game, yet alan wake 2 is a sony homo cum crazed game that tries to hard to be sony, and it's only remedys quirky charm that manages to carry it past kyle rowleys homosexualry
I'll see how it turns out once I start AW2 but AW1's combat was only good for two hours at best. The best parts are always the atmospheric ones, it's too bad that the game's emphasis on combat is completely incoherent with the story.
This is Remedy's problem though. They cant ever make good gameplay. Control is the same garbage, its just >walk >enter new room >shoot enemies and throw rocks at them >repeat for 10 hours
Boring as fuck. Thats why I play their games on easy, literally 0 point.
im playing AW2 on normal but even go down to easy tbh, do the difficulty settings change anything other than the health of enemies and how much dmg they take?
Epishit Games Store is basically the same as buying a console. Pointless waste of money that involves you being spied on by the chinese and russians.
Go away, Tim.
kinda crazy how good it looks on PS5 tbh
those mesh shaders are doing something magical
I think it might even be the reason performance is all over the place on PC, not all GPUs support mesh shaders
according to df and other benchmarks i've seen it performs perfectly fine on most rtx 2060 (or equivalent) and above gpus without hardware ray tracing/path tracing
idk if its fsr or partial ray tracing for shadows or something but on PS5 is never looked bad to me, didn't feel like I was missing much. It looked a lot better than a lot of PC games I've played this year on my 3070ti. though I'm sure it's something like 60 fps -> 144 fps where you can't go back after experiencing 144 fps when you try the PC version of AW2
Can it really be called a flop when epic funded the game for remedy? it'll remain profit for remedy since they essentially didn't spend a dime on development out of their own pocket.
Well epic is the publisher, so they footed the development and marketing bill but the terms are epic takes 100% of revenue till they recoup the costs and after split 50/50
So until it sells enough its a cost for epic but remedy doesn't get any additional money either
Epic made their deal public when they announced they would be a publisher.
One of the big deals about it was developers got to keep their IP and not given to Epic. So no matter how this goes for Remedy they get to own Alan Wake IP for any future endeavours.
Well Remedy and a few others did.
I know in the indie space smaller publishers do 70/30 till recoup and flip it after, but no clue how other bigger budget publisher deals are but keeping your IP is considered a big deal for these types of deals.
The thin that sucks for the terms is the PC version is stuck on the EGS
It wasn't even just Remedy, it was a bunch of developers. And Remedy games don't cost that much in regards to most AAA games, Control only cost 30 million. If AW2 selling 500k would be enough to reach that milestone.
Probably not well is my guess, but Control also didn't sell well at launch and became popular afterwards, same will happen here when it comes to Steam (it's 100% coming to Steam, Epic won't say no to free money).
Unless Timmy has a change of heart regarding steam I doubt it.
The only hope to get on steam is either Epic gives up or Remedy buy out publishing rights on PC
game is unfortunately just too boring to talk about. I thought it would be just here, but it's everywhere. everybody on here has the most shallow and borderline dogmatic opinions of it. and outside, everybody is just fawning over how "unique" the presentation is, but nobody appreciates the unique elements of the gameplay and the gameplay loop. I really should give up trying on this board, I've tried like a dozen times now and have already written a dozen essays elaborating on this, but nobody wants to care. sometimes I realize that videogame discussion isn't about saying something of substance, but rather saying something familar or...whatever the opposite of critical is, that validates a general narrative or view. I'm tired, if every single one of my posts is going to be high effort because I actually care about what I'm talking about only to get no reciprocation or shitposting responses...then theres nothing for me here.
just have to make piece with finding something else to do, somewhere else to go. the Alan Wake 2 threads on here have opened my eyes more than anything. I haven't seen discussion this shallow and tarnished, so held firmly in grasp by narrative to this degree in so long. Atleast some of the threads close to as garbage as these in the past I was able to have SOME effect, SOME decent combo, SOME understanding. Anyway. peace.
I quite frankly see nothing really noteworthy about AW2 from a gameplay prespective. I can only commend the graphics and the immersion Remedy achieved in a few locales in the game.
>I quite frankly see nothing really noteworthy about AW2 from a gameplay prespective.
That's not my point. I don't care If you're a retard. Retards are fine until they act like (you to some degree) this retard:
>unique gameplay >press x to shoot zombies
What?
and try to assert their ignorance, reductiveness, and narrow mindedness as if it reflects anything substantial about the game other than...the fact that they couldn't engage with it meaningfully. Even this will be lost on you. Its not disagreeing that is the problem. You obviously haven't been in enough of these threads. It's the bad faith, the falseflaggers, the twisting and making up of facts, misrepresenting and diluting the impression of the game. Making it so that you can never tell whether criticism is real and has any valid merit...or if it's just another tactic to put down the game without being as obvious as others and mentioning "nagger protag". I don't want to bother getting too indepth as I already said high effort posts are tiresome on here. And if you're self aware or good faith enough you should already be able to see it for yourself. But one prime example was somebody trying to pass of an in-game mechanic as a bug to just slyly shit on the game, and it took LITERAL hours for him to be called out on it.
I know I'm right. Next time if you don't know something, don't speak on it, because your ignorance poisons the well...*sigh* anyway, I'm done. Peace. Place won't get better no matter how right I am.
I've finished the game and I still don't know what you're talking about. It'd help if you weren't vague and actually discussed what you enjoyed about the game instead of posting walls of text about how other posters are arguing in bad faith (and I agree about that).

Stop playing games that promote nagger worship and white genocide

is an actual bonafide narcissistic personality disorder schizo who appears in like every other Alan Wake thread. Search the archives for Alan Wake schizo, he has a track record of posting here always using the same kind of egotistical language. It's best to just ignore him or else laugh him out of the thread (he goes away if enough people mock him)
I'm not a game journalist, sorry if I'm entertained by such basics things as "presentation".
Sometimes I even buy games based entirely on their "presentation".
If you remove the "presentation" from Remedy games, there isn't much left to say, they're derivative at best.
>but nobody appreciates the unique elements of the gameplay and the gameplay loop
the fuck is unique about its gameplay loop?
its the most basic survival horror shit, straight out of RE2, except with much worse pacing, where getting out to explore only hurts the immersion. And I don't even mind it, its just not remarkable in any way. Dark Place gimmicks and Saga's Mind place are cool, but I'd put them in the narrative category, which is the games strongest point.
The mind place is trash for Saga, though? Alan's sections handle it well but hers is garbage. Everything about Alan's portion of the game is great but Saga is mediocre at best.
I feel this, it makes sense for Alan to have a writers room. But honestly, I would've been okay with Saga's mind place, if they removed that fucking profiling ability. It's fucking retarded and felt like an excuse to not have to craft parts of the game where the player has to do actual investigation, like what an FBI agent would actually do.
I liked how they explained her profiling ability, it at least makes sense in the world of the game, even if it means that it skips on using actual deduction
It might have if his essay gave any implication that he understood what he played/saw or had any substance to it, unfortunately it was just autistic rambling with less depth than the average low effort response.
Control wasn't popular either, it only got more discussion over time, especially after The Game Awards. But it also got released on steam 1 year after it launched, but that might not happen here.
Despite their acclaim I never really figured Remedy games past Max Payne sold all that well, least of all Alan Wake, so kind of surprised Epic would fund this at all. Anyway I'm not getting it until all of the DLC is out and the complete thing is on sale. I've tried before but could never get into playing just some small piece of extra content 6 months to a year later, it always feels hollow, anti-climactic and pointless, and I don't want to replay the whole game.
Alan Wake was never popular, I don't know what else people expected. Remedy got a sweet deal by not having to fund the game. They made the entire thing at no cost to themselves.
It's genuinely a cool game if you like Alan Wake and Control. Control really helped set up a neat universe and Alan Wake 2 builds off it super well. There's definitely parts in Saga's story where it feels like there should be combat but there isn't. Alan's story on the other hand is super stressful cause there's so many shades in the dark place that act like enemies but aren't and many times I've wasted flashlight battery or flare gun ammo thinking I was killing an enemy.
I get people's complaints about EGS and the combat, which is nowhere near as good as controls but it's really a great and unique game in my opinion.
I'm not interested in the game, because it is panderslop, but I would would have pirated it if I were. There is no way I am ever installing Sweeny's EGS slop.
You don't have to install Timmy's launcher to play stuff from EGS. There's a free and open source launcher you can use instead.
https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher
I've been playing Alan Wake 2 via it, since I caved and bought a new GPU and got it free. Works just fine, including achievements and shit.
I'd rather use an open source launcher when I can. Plus it also handles Amazon and GOG, so all your free games from services you'll never actually give any money to in place.
Question for fans, is better to play 2 after just played 1+am or going in with my old memory of the game from 3+ years ago?
I might replay them anyway because I know at least they are great
first one was too long and had too much combat, but at least there was mystery and you didnt have to click around a bunch of menus every 5 min. Also, Barry.
Yeah which is why it was average at best and forgotten by everyone until Control. Remedy has always been AA, not AAA. They're the R&M of the gaming industry
I decided to bite the bullet and buy it on Epic. And the game is just okay. It's seriously just okay. It's just an okay Survival Horror, absolutely nothing about it is amazing and all the unique charm and little details of the first game are gone. The deuteragonist Saga is an absolute shit, felt like she was an afterthought. The game is basically a walking sim, there's barely any combat.
I was hoping I'd be amazed and surprised but Im just disappointed.
"
I want to play the Alan Wake 2 that would've come out if Remedy had made the sequel 10 years ago.
>I want to play the Alan Wake 2 that would've come out if Remedy had made the sequel 10 years ago.
literally no one cared about Alan Wake 1, the gameplay wasn't even better than Alan Wake 2
maybe you should just have asked Sam Lake to write a book 10 years ago
>literally no one cared about Alan Wake 1, the gameplay wasn't even better than Alan Wake 2
I know, when it came out it was the definition of the 7/10 summer game. Most of what it did was on par with other games at the time.
But it was unique and a fun little thriller. Its just a shame that Remedy went for an RE clone and not actually digging in further to what Alan Wake did well.
This unironically.
Remedy sucks and their IPs suck. The games give off such pretentious vibes. All of them. They just suck and the cult following from troons and stay-at-home-dads is the only reason theyve not been shut down as a studio yet.
>Literally Twin Peaks The Return >The “horror” is just flashing screens in your face before a boss >50% of game watching cutscenes that is live action >4 enemy types
Most overrated shit in 2023
Because the first game sucked and also was shilled to insanity, and then Quantum break and then shit control, why would anyone with a brain buy Alan Shit 2
Barely anyone talked about the original. What the absolute fuck are you talking about? It was the epitome of an unpopular game back when it launched. I doubt you were even alive at the time yet you're trying to say it was shilled to hell and back.
You are delusional. Alan Wake came out in 2010, you fucking moron. It wasn't shilled by anyone, let alone Xbox. Companies were too busy pushing games like Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption and even fucking Rockband a lot more than that game. Mother fucker, Halo Reach came out in 2010 and you're trying to say Alan Wake got shilled more than that? Are you retarded?
No one gave a shit about Alan Wake when it came out.
I'm so fucking tired of people bitching about Saga being black when it's clear that her father is Warlin Door, who is the alternate universe version of Martin Hatch. I genuinely enjoy Alan Wake 2 except for the bullshit wolves, Coffee World, and the chase scenes for Alan.
That doesn't make any sense because Saga and Casey both got referenced in Quantum Break and se see them there and they're white. And Hatch was also black there. Just accept that she got race swapped for liberal brownie points and get over it already, everyone sane is aware of this.
For fucks sake, Saga was originally white, we saw her in another game. How you're even arguing about this is beyond me.
But in the Alan Wake universe she's the daughter of Warlin Door, so it makes sense to make her black. It fucking fits. You want a white lady to be the daughter of a black guy?
No that's what it's apparently like now, that wasn't what it was originally. We already know that this is the reason why she got race swapped because of a pre release video where she's talking about "poc" being game protagonists. Saga was white in universe, she got race swapped later for stupid reasons. You're just using Door/Hatch as an excuse despite it not even making sense given their original depictions in other games. It's an obvious retcon, and it was done for obvious reasons.
Sounds like you got the better version of the game. Memes aside you either got an extremely rare bug, because I've never seen anyone else talk about this anywhere, or you're swapping into Return 4, where you play as Alan.
Well lets see >ESG exclusive >black female secondary protagonist (that was blackwashed no less) >developers posted insane system requirements before launch, and straight up told that the game wouldn't work on GTX 1000 -series or lower
I'd be seriously surprised if it sold more than 100k copies on PC.
I'm playing Control right now and I find the lore collectibles annoying. Like they don't add any weight to the narrative, they are just filling. I think I'll ignore that shit, it's not even an interesting readung.
This said, I'm surprised how arcadey this game feels for a westoid title.
Control's gameplay bothers me because it's surprisingly rapid fire but shallow as fuck once you start engaging with it. There's no point in investing in anything except telekinesis and spending whatever you have left on levitation (some bosses can ONLY be hurt with telekinesis) and the AWE DLC proves that the starting gun is the best gun and that gun damage > everything, literally everything else.
And I fucking love the bazooka gun, especially with Fra's upgrade that makes it's speed practically instant, but even it falls short simply because the only way to make the Third Thing let go of you is to shoot it. And if you shoot the bazooka gun at close range you'll fucking die.
I don't mind that it's shallow but what I don't like is when the devs can't accept it and add these pointless "rpg" elements with stat upgrades and such.
The game didn't need that, it was perfectly fine with its simple but fun combat system.
Yeah the mod upgrade RNG shit did sour me quite a bit, especially upon realising DAMAGE IS ALL THAT MATTERS. I just wish the other powers were even semi-competitive with telekinesis and levitation, is all. Portals might have been fun. What about slowing time, or instead of a static shield you create orbiting barriers that also smack the Hiss around?
It's a pretty soulful game, if you like David Lynch or you have ever experienced a thought loop before you might enjoy the story.
For me, it was like Asura's Wrath all over again. I didn't like the gameplay but the story was Lynch-style cosmic horror SOVL.
The stat upgrade thing is fine, especially with the unique mods to some guns like Spam Mail or Custodial Readiness and One Way Track. The worst problem is that most of the other basic Infinity tier weapon mods don't really do anything besides boosting the base weapon options, so the unique elements to some guns don't feel as rewarding. If they had spent more time making certain mysteries reward more unique and fun weapon upgrades, the combat system would have felt much better overall. I hope they use a similar system in the sequel, just with more variety.
>I hope they use a similar system in the sequel, just with more variety.
This. It's far from unsalvageable. Compared to both Alan Wake games it's a godsend. There's room for improvement, but the improvements should be obvious.
And whats part of it that is lie?
Saga gets an open zone area where she can explore while Alan gets to loop same zone over and over again on top of being linear.
Not to mention that Saga gets to interact with more characters while Alan stuck talking to himself almost all the time.
woke ruins everything it touches

Give it to me straight anon is this game good? My friend who shares my taste mostly, says he liked the 1st one and the 2nd one looks really cool from a meta writing perspective
Rate the game on the spectrum from Lemon-Lime to Grape if you've beaten it
>Day one crack
>CCP store exclusive
I think it's safe to say it flopped on PC.
day one crack doesnt matter when most pirates are too poor to have a decent enough PC to run it
A lot of big hype games had day 1 crack.
How much cash do they get from epic games that makes it worth to skip steam?
I pirated it
Ebin funded the entire game, didn't it.
epic is the publisher, they funded the development
IS it going to come out on steam at some point?
I pirated it and Remedy and Epic deserve the money but I'm not spending it on an EGS copy.
I don't know what Finnish people put in their coffee but from indies to AAA they're really good at making games that feel unique.
Probably not, because it was published by Epic.
Such a damn shame.
Tim's in a bit of a bind especially after all those layoffs. He needs something to make up for the drying up Fortnite money. So he might do it. The problem is he sees Gabe as a competitor, while Sony doesn't.
Tim's pride and autism will never allow him to do this since it would basically be an admission that EGS is a failed venture

https://www.remedygames.com/article/the-sequel-to-control-remedy-entertainment-signs-a-co-development-and-co-publishing-agreement-with-505-games-for-control-2
Shame, I probably would have bought it few years down the line when it'd be 80% off
i doubt its going to come to steam since it wasn't an exclusivity deal like normal as epic is the publisher and funded the development of the game
Think epic pays $5-10m for AA
Epic funded the whole thing including advertising. I think the agreement is that any earnings go to epic till it recoups its investment then anything else is a 50/50 split
dont ask here because its just a bunch of poorfags who couldnt afford the PC to even run it
Still don't get how they gave this IP another chance. The first was already totally meh
Second shits on the first game. I didn't expect it to be this good.
>AW2
>good
>game is 80% Saga, and she gets all the good exploration parts while Alan get the worst, slowest boring part of the game
>the inventory system is ass, and obviously ripped off from RE4 remake hastily with the barebone UI
>they also ripped off RE charm system, that doesn't have its own inventory slot
>the story is simple. but were convoluted with repetitive narrative and awful pacing
>game explain shit to you, but you have to repeat it all over again like a retard while pinning pictures like an 8 years old playing fit the block
>dev forgot that this is suppose to be a horror game, so they added a cheap random jumpscare that came out of nowhere
>end with a sequal bait
Also Alice being manipulative bitch again. Even though we saved her in the first game, she went inside the lake again to get the power and using her photography she try to lure the dark again to save Alan.
Oh yeah, Remedy being a piece of shit for recasting a FINNISH ACTOR into some niggress that SOMEHOW HALF FINNS EVEN THOUGH SHE LOOKS 100% PURE naggerS.
tell me you didn't play the game without telling me you didn't play the game
Nice rebuttal.
Thanks, I've been working out
low iq opinion
>SOMEHOW HALF FINNS EVEN THOUGH SHE LOOKS 100% PURE naggerS
ffs she's literally only half black, her mom is actually white, they cast a mixed race actress to play a mixed race character man
>English
Doesn't always means black nigga.
Good thing we have this fine member of the white race to guide us through these hard times.
Because they got someone else to pay for the entire game's development expenses. Maybe they just wanted to make it.
I thought you idiots hated corporatism and just wanted devs to do their own thing? Then when it happens people here get mad?
You need money to tide over the next development period though. They took out a loan to fund them.
This put them on the map for the consumers.
fuck are you talking about? first one was kino, you realize it when reach end of episode 4
Jornos loved it, just compare reviews with Deadly Premonition or Alone in the Dark 2008. It's enough to make a sequel if you want some publicity for your store or a console
I liked it. It had charm. The gameplay was meh but you could tell there was a lot of love for the story and world they made
This
sums it up for me. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Remedy should just become an animation studio, because at this point the gameplay is a sideshow to the story.
It doesn't run on most PCs
I have a 1660 super and a Ryzen 5 3600. It works perfectly.
I really like the game, pirated it and have been playing it for the last week. I even like it enough that I'd buy it. Sadly it's on the EGS and I'd rather be shot in the head than buy into another fucking bloatware shit app. Fuck I wish I never got into Steam.
it's very interesting game. buy the xbox or ps5 version, those don't have epic games store
Yeah I'll just buy a shit ass console that will be obsolete within a year first.
>Fuck I wish I never got into Steam.
What's stopping you from buying from other storefronts? I buy from GOG all the time when I found they exist 4 years ago.
anon doesnt have the brainpower to remember which app each of his games are on
>I even like it enough that I'd buy it
Holy shit imagine exposing your shit taste like this. Let me guess, TLoU2 was the best game of all time right?
He probably hates Elden Ring and loves Undertale, CoD and The Queer of Us
top kek
Massive projection from a bunch of cock loving fags. I've played Elden Ring and that's it. And I'm not such a loser that I keep up on woke news. When did CoD become woke? I wouldn't know I have better things to do than take Jamal's cock.
You're a raging homo for praising woke walking simulators. Kys.
weirdo alert
Go woke go broke
>shit performance
>EGS exclusive
>raceswapped nog MC
>day one crack
>sequel to Alan Wake
you tell me
>>shit performance
Works fine for me.
We already know the answer, Epic funded the development of the entire game. They said so themselves.
EGS exclusivity is just PC, they do have consoles as well, that said it was never going to be a hit so I think Remedy made the right choice, they get to pay dev salaries for however long the development took, we get another game, and all the risk is on EGS.
>shit performance
It runs fine
lies can only get you that far
what does fine mean ?
i don't give a fuck about your sub par standards
numbers or shut the fuck up about your feelings
>shit performance
bro has a shit pc
>raceswapped mc
bro has no clue what happened in Alan wake 1
doesn't matter, epic published/funded all of it
unfortunately that means it'll never be on Steam
Timmy Tencent will come crawling to Gaben eventually.
I hope so, I want to obnoxiously play the musical segment on my steam deck on an air plane and look over to the person next to me and say "ITS GAME OF THE YEAR, DON'T YOU SEE"
Epic is losing money and had to do a massive layoff. It will all be on Steam sooner or later.
>Took 2 years for Alan Wake Remastered to break even
Considering it probably had a tiny budget, imagine how long it'll take AW2 to break even.
the remaster was actually a pretty big project, they had to port it to their latest northlight engine
>Alan Wake Remastered
First time I hear about it, maybe that's the reason.
>t. big AW & Remedy fan
This is actually the second remaster as the Alan Wake PC version came out IIRC in 2013 because Remedy kept Nagging MS for permission. This PC version was much improved from the Console Slop version.
The PC version is exactly the same, just harder. The only improvements were small bug fixes.
How is it harder?
How can anyone be "a big AW fan"? It's a crappy game with a decent story.
Why do they keep remastering games that are barely a decade old? Are zoomer really that retarded that they can't play a god released just a couple of years ago?
*play a game
Because the main focus of the project is to port it to current-gen consoles. Any "remastering" done is a secondary benefit.
they're creatively bankrupt, or actively hostile to their regular normie customerbase as most developers seem to come straight out of cali.
Alan Woke 2 got dat ESG money doe
according to Ganker
I forgot this came out, holy shit.
Is it good?
Yes, my potential game of the year
>Ganker constantly screeches about “pozzed snoy movie games” and how gameplay is the only thing that matters
>yet can’t stop dick-guzzling some trash release that’s 90% cutscenes and walking-talking scenes, watered-down RE4 gameplay, and strong, independent, black woman protagonist with shit writing and a complete lack of tonal consistency
I genuinely don’t know if you braindead homosexuals are actually this terminally retarded or if you homosexuals are just this insufferably contrarian. Either way it’s not even funny anymore given how predictable it’s become. God, I hate this fucking board and what it’s become.
I don't ever talk about Sony, you fucking schizo.
>God, I hate this fucking board and what it’s become.
you will never leave this place
game was funded by EGS, and EGS shills frequent this board daily to shill their shitty store front, you do the math. Just hide and ignore these threads. Nothing useful will ever be gleamed from this tripe.
It's alright
carried by the atmosphere
What do you expect, it's nuRemedy. None of the guys who did Max Payne work there anymore, except hack fraud Sami Järvi.
control was very close to mp 1-2 remedy, but this director kyle rowley drinks sony cum as it tries so hard to be a sony game, but some classic remedy elements poke through inspite of his homosexualry
I'm honestly shocked how not fun aw2 is
>much like the first game
it's like when gtav was about to come out, I honestly thought they'd use the movement of max payne 3, but they just went totally homo and didn't learn anything from prior games they made
I meant to say that control is very much remedy game, yet alan wake 2 is a sony homo cum crazed game that tries to hard to be sony, and it's only remedys quirky charm that manages to carry it past kyle rowleys homosexualry
I'm playing through AW1 right now and switched the game to easy after four episodes.
There is too much combat and it doesn't add anything to the game.
AW2 funnily enough has the opposite problem, it should have a bit more combat, especially at the beginning of the game.
I guess they overcompensated.
Control is the same garbage, its just
>walk
>enter new room
>shoot enemies and throw rocks at them
>repeat for 10 hours
Boring as fuck. Thats why I play their games on easy, literally 0 point.
They can make a decent premise, which makes me wonder why they don't just make a show instead.
>This is Remedy's problem though. They cant ever make good gameplay.
New Remedy's problem, you mean. Max Payne 1&2 were kino.
im playing AW2 on normal but even go down to easy tbh, do the difficulty settings change anything other than the health of enemies and how much dmg they take?
I'm pretty sure easy mode reduces enemy spawn in scenarios and affects the drop rate
>steamies when all they have to do is download another storefront
Epishit Games Store is basically the same as buying a console. Pointless waste of money that involves you being spied on by the chinese and russians.
Go away, Tim.
>"umm sweaty EGS is like heckin chinese spyware"
Literally no one cares that you're a NEET homosexual who faps to tranny porn
How much are they paying you? 50 cents an hour to post this epig shit store propaganda?
If it as this easy to get a job advertising on a message board, you wouldn't be a penniless NEET living with your parents.
>egs cost as much as a console
What? They give me free shit every week
I got no issue with gog but a million with epic. Tim is untrustworthy, dude...
you tell me, it was unironically completely forgotten after one day
rate how mentally ill this thread either is or probably will end up being (haven't even read the thread yet) on a scale of 1-50.
I'll start conservatively with a 33.
i got it on ps5 and its been in top 10 sales in my country for most of the past week
kinda crazy how good it looks on PS5 tbh
those mesh shaders are doing something magical
I think it might even be the reason performance is all over the place on PC, not all GPUs support mesh shaders
according to df and other benchmarks i've seen it performs perfectly fine on most rtx 2060 (or equivalent) and above gpus without hardware ray tracing/path tracing
It looks better on pc unless your card is worse than 2060
idk if its fsr or partial ray tracing for shadows or something but on PS5 is never looked bad to me, didn't feel like I was missing much. It looked a lot better than a lot of PC games I've played this year on my 3070ti. though I'm sure it's something like 60 fps -> 144 fps where you can't go back after experiencing 144 fps when you try the PC version of AW2
It’s GOTY for me and I didn’t buy it
Just watched the Alan Wake 2 movie on youtube. GOTY for me.
You know the terms of their publishing deal?
Epic made their deal public when they announced they would be a publisher.
One of the big deals about it was developers got to keep their IP and not given to Epic. So no matter how this goes for Remedy they get to own Alan Wake IP for any future endeavours.
No one would accept terms like these lel
Well Remedy and a few others did.
I know in the indie space smaller publishers do 70/30 till recoup and flip it after, but no clue how other bigger budget publisher deals are but keeping your IP is considered a big deal for these types of deals.
The thin that sucks for the terms is the PC version is stuck on the EGS
It wasn't even just Remedy, it was a bunch of developers. And Remedy games don't cost that much in regards to most AAA games, Control only cost 30 million. If AW2 selling 500k would be enough to reach that milestone.
If AW2 cost the same, *
Probably not well is my guess, but Control also didn't sell well at launch and became popular afterwards, same will happen here when it comes to Steam (it's 100% coming to Steam, Epic won't say no to free money).
Unless Timmy has a change of heart regarding steam I doubt it.
The only hope to get on steam is either Epic gives up or Remedy buy out publishing rights on PC
kino game and the most Twin Peaks like piece of media ever made but it runs so bad on pc
Why do horror games threads attract the worst schizos?
game is unfortunately just too boring to talk about.
That describes all Remedy games post Max Payne 2
>I quite frankly see nothing really noteworthy about AW2 from a gameplay prespective.
That's not my point. I don't care If you're a retard. Retards are fine until they act like (you to some degree) this retard:
and try to assert their ignorance, reductiveness, and narrow mindedness as if it reflects anything substantial about the game other than...the fact that they couldn't engage with it meaningfully.
>*sighs*
Why have you come to Ganker from Reddit? What made you think Ganker wants you here?
You just revealed yourself as a tourist.
Stop playing games that promote nagger worship and white genocide
>unique gameplay
>press x to shoot zombies
What?
>it's le hecking looperino
riveting…
This poster
is an actual bonafide narcissistic personality disorder schizo who appears in like every other Alan Wake thread. Search the archives for Alan Wake schizo, he has a track record of posting here always using the same kind of egotistical language. It's best to just ignore him or else laugh him out of the thread (he goes away if enough people mock him)
Yeah sounds like it
I'm not a game journalist, sorry if I'm entertained by such basics things as "presentation".
Sometimes I even buy games based entirely on their "presentation".
If you remove the "presentation" from Remedy games, there isn't much left to say, they're derivative at best.
>peace
use that lingo somewhere I don't have to read it please.
>but nobody appreciates the unique elements of the gameplay and the gameplay loop
the fuck is unique about its gameplay loop?
its the most basic survival horror shit, straight out of RE2, except with much worse pacing, where getting out to explore only hurts the immersion.
Not your blog soiboy.
You're not better than everyone else.
Just because you wrote an essay on your favorite videogame it doesnt mean that your opinion has extra value.
Massive flop on PC, no idea on console. Doesn't matter because Epic was footing the bill hard.
ALAN WOKE
I get people's complaints about EGS and the combat, which is nowhere near as good as controls but it's really a great and unique game in my opinion.
>may or may not be an enemy
That's just Outlast patients
I know Alan's VA. He's my uncle. I'll get him to say some shit next time I see him
Isn't he the same guy who played Darling in Control?
Yep. I think he was the one who selected the song as well
Neato, tell him Casper Darling and that music video specifically were my favorite parts of Control.
Record him reading the USS Liberty Incident wikipedia article
Get him to do his character's lines in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, but with the Alan Wake voice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x__IanwqnPI
I'll give it a shot next time I see him. We don't live too far from each other. Roughly 20 minutes away actually
Works just fine, including achievements and shit.
it's still just another launcher. if i'm going to use multiple launchers anyways, why not use the epic store one?
I'd rather use an open source launcher when I can. Plus it also handles Amazon and GOG, so all your free games from services you'll never actually give any money to in place.
mod put the nagger and i can see myself playing it
mod out, i meant.
Sales numbers are irrelevant since Timmy Tencent paid Remedy already
Sold like shit. Want to play it but I know it'll be on discount in 2 months so I can wait.
Journos endlessly fellated this but organic discussion about it fell off a fucking cliff in less than a week.
It's a flop. Another Deathloop.
Yeah, it'll join the compilation image and give Hyenas and Saints Row some company
It's already far exceeded Deathloop in terms of discussion. In fact, AW threads are slowly improving as shitposters fuck off to the next thing.
Question for fans, is better to play 2 after just played 1+am or going in with my old memory of the game from 3+ years ago?
I might replay them anyway because I know at least they are great
Play the first game, watch the Control recap, then try 2, I guess.
Oh Ye I haven't played awe because I played control at release and didn't want to replay it for 2h of Alan wake content
I really wanna like it but man I am hating the first Alan levels. Just run around, find a scene, listen to narration, repeat.
AW was never good. Only retarded zoomers think so.
first one was too long and had too much combat, but at least there was mystery and you didnt have to click around a bunch of menus every 5 min. Also, Barry.
Yeah which is why it was average at best and forgotten by everyone until Control. Remedy has always been AA, not AAA. They're the R&M of the gaming industry
The first one is like 10 hours long and you spend half of it walking around and talking to people.
Sam has some fun storytelling ideas but sometimes he lets them get in the way of the gameplay
bro what if... I wrote a NEW draft of initiation
that was his entire narrative, over and over
the combat in both games sucks
I decided to bite the bullet and buy it on Epic. And the game is just okay. It's seriously just okay. It's just an okay Survival Horror, absolutely nothing about it is amazing and all the unique charm and little details of the first game are gone. The deuteragonist Saga is an absolute shit, felt like she was an afterthought. The game is basically a walking sim, there's barely any combat.
I was hoping I'd be amazed and surprised but Im just disappointed.
"
I want to play the Alan Wake 2 that would've come out if Remedy had made the sequel 10 years ago.
>I decided to bite the bullet and buy it on Epic.
yeah sure lol
>I want to play the Alan Wake 2 that would've come out if Remedy had made the sequel 10 years ago.
literally no one cared about Alan Wake 1, the gameplay wasn't even better than Alan Wake 2
maybe you should just have asked Sam Lake to write a book 10 years ago
>literally no one cared about Alan Wake 1, the gameplay wasn't even better than Alan Wake 2
I know, when it came out it was the definition of the 7/10 summer game. Most of what it did was on par with other games at the time.
But it was unique and a fun little thriller. Its just a shame that Remedy went for an RE clone and not actually digging in further to what Alan Wake did well.
anal woke 2
It had no discs and lost a third(34%) of potential customers.
The game is good though so we will get a "Complete Edition with DLC" disc in the future
Yes we love discs
I will not buy Anal Woke 2.
I will not play Anal Woke 2.
I will not even pirate Anal Woke 2.
This unironically.
Remedy sucks and their IPs suck. The games give off such pretentious vibes. All of them. They just suck and the cult following from troons and stay-at-home-dads is the only reason theyve not been shut down as a studio yet.
>Literally Twin Peaks The Return
>The “horror” is just flashing screens in your face before a boss
>50% of game watching cutscenes that is live action
>4 enemy types
Most overrated shit in 2023
Because the first game sucked and also was shilled to insanity, and then Quantum break and then shit control, why would anyone with a brain buy Alan Shit 2
Barely anyone talked about the original. What the absolute fuck are you talking about? It was the epitome of an unpopular game back when it launched. I doubt you were even alive at the time yet you're trying to say it was shilled to hell and back.
It was Xbox 360's last big exclusive, basically, before ps3 won.
It had craz realistic forest and you could even drive car, shilled the fuck out
Okay, retard. Whatever you say.
>sequel to a game that flopped
>EGS exclusive
>black woman on the cover
>barely any threads about it here
Gee I don't know its a real mystery if this flopped or not
alan wake ranks with the likes of the splatterhouse reboot for mediocre xbox 360 games from 2010
I'm so fucking tired of people bitching about Saga being black when it's clear that her father is Warlin Door, who is the alternate universe version of Martin Hatch.
Psychos spamming about naggers 24/7 dont care either. they just do it because they just do it
My game is freaking glitched. When I switch from Alan to Saga I keep playing as Alan in Bright falls.
What the shit did Remedy just release
Sounds like you got the better version of the game. Memes aside you either got an extremely rare bug, because I've never seen anyone else talk about this anywhere, or you're swapping into Return 4, where you play as Alan.
It's after that. Alan passes out and the FBC takes over the case.
Are people actually surprised that an Alan Wake game didn't sell well?
remember, ayys are canon and will save everyone in AW3
Pirated but still not later launched.
EGS is poison to everything but fortnite and bro dude shit
this is a niche title it'll probably break even
Is this one of those games retards on Ganker pretend to love just to “troll” everyone else on the board?
how is remedy even funded at this point ?
is it just timmy keeping them afloat, these sequels keep getting greenlit with SHIT sales numbers
Timmy. Our country is going down shitter creek economically, so most of the larger studios need gibs to do proper development and keep the lights on.
should have gone the denuvo route
never listen to PCfags
>financial flop because muh piracy
very poor cope
>Dad walks in
If I were to show something to my dad it would be this
Well lets see
>ESG exclusive
>black female secondary protagonist (that was blackwashed no less)
>developers posted insane system requirements before launch, and straight up told that the game wouldn't work on GTX 1000 -series or lower
>How did it sell, either so bad google isn’t telling me or so bad Remedy won’t say
I hope it crashes and burns, because it's shit and because of epic.
It's a pretty soulful game, if you like David Lynch or you have ever experienced a thought loop before you might enjoy the story.
>game is 80% Saga, and she gets all the good exploration parts while Alan get the worst, slowest boring part of the game
This is a blatant lie.
>blatant lie
And whats part of it that is lie?
Saga gets an open zone area where she can explore while Alan gets to loop same zone over and over again on top of being linear.
Not to mention that Saga gets to interact with more characters while Alan stuck talking to himself almost all the time.
woke ruins everything it touches

get woke go broke
Its a digital only game. Sales data can only come from Remedy
>How did it sell,
doesn't really matter Timmy already paid them
Give it to me straight anon is this game good? My friend who shares my taste mostly, says he liked the 1st one and the 2nd one looks really cool from a meta writing perspective
Rate the game on the spectrum from Lemon-Lime to Grape if you've beaten it
combat is just as garbage as the first game, but if you can get past that it's a pretty good game
I played through it and I enjoyed it. I was getting bored at the end tho and just focused on the story. It's not perfect but it's decent
AW2 is what The Evil Within 2 was trying to be
Except EW2 was actually trying to be a video game, you retarded cocksucking homosexual
I'm not done with it yet but the narrative and the style are very entertaining.
It's been years since I played the first and don't remember much of the story, should I replay it or go for the second?
