It's the SNES and Nintendo in general. Horribly overrated company with shit games.
Am I the only one who noties input lag with snes games?
What display?
Wich wired controller?
No, its not just you. Switch has a slightly above average input delay baked in natively and the subpar emulation adds another layer to this. This becomes exponential depending on your input device and what kind of monitor you are playing on. Ironically the a nintendo device is the absolutely worst device to play nintendo games on.
If I remember correctly its missing absolute classics like Mega Man X1, Castlevania 4, TMNT, etc. Really only has SOME decent first party titles and the rest is overrated JRPGs.
You should stop encouraging Nintendo to make shit products.
>If I remember correctly its missing absolute classics like Mega Man X1, Castlevania 4, TMNT, etc. Really only has SOME decent first party titles and the rest is overrated JRPGs.
not on the service to force you to buy the collections they're in
They want you to buy the collection because they include the shitty games in them to justify a higher price.
but the collections are awful
Depends. The Castlevania collection is God Tier, save for the first Game Boy game.
The TMNT collection too.
im upset that neither of the CV collections have Rondo of Blood. that's one of the best games in the series and they just ignore it.
Blame Sony for making that Rondo/Symphony two pack on PS4. It was all them, Konami had no intention of doing it.
>The Castlevania collection is God Tier
Not on switch, no, and it doesn't offer any advantage over plain old emulation.
i liked the collection on PC and switch. they're solid re-releases, and i like supporting official releases if they're not dogwater.
Anon the collections run fine on Switch.

>No, its not just you. Switch has a slightly above average input delay baked in natively and the subpar emulation adds another layer to this.
Blatantly untrue and if input delay is causing you issues you're a shitter and should move on to a different hobby anyways
If you can't notice input delay you aren't playing the games enough and you aren't good at them.
Play the stuff on the PC in some emulator that accepts that "run ahead" function. You get smaller input lags than the original hardware (the SNES was a bit crappy and has a considerable input lag, nothing comparable to the N64 which even on CRTs will give you about 85ms in the best of situations, yet it is noticeable).
After playing romhacks of super mario world on retroarch with "0" frames of input lag on an extremely fast response monitor, I simply can't play things like Mario Maker 2 on Switch, the input lag even playing in handheld mode, on the default device screen, is bizarre. Mario World on Nintendo's service is even worse.
I noticed input lag with Star Fox. It bugged the hell out of me until I played it on a different TV, and then it was gone. A Visio vs. a Roku. Buy a Roku.
The games control like shit because switch is a shit piece of hardware and yes the selection is piecemeal.
No, I think you're just moronic.
mods need to start deleting these threads
Yes, the majority of them and other interesting things are missing.
>English can't get Harvest Moon because of trademarking
>Japan got Umihara Kawase despite it requiring no Japanese to play and we've gotten SFC on the service before
>No Final Fantasy
>Konami is selling their Castlevanias elsewhere
>No Mario RPG
>No Chrono Trigger
>No Super Bomberman titles
>No TMNT games
>No Secret of Mana
And I assume it's missing most Capcom games?
It's got the breath of fires and demons crest. Not that all the street fighter and MegaMan x games are currently being sold so there is 0 chance of them showing up
TMNT and Mana got their own collections as well, so sadly those won't ever be on the service.
Honestly the lack of super Mario rpg is the only one I'm surprised is missing. Konami also has a Castlevania bundle for sale now too, so don't expect to ever see that either
But Pixel Remasters are coming to Switch
https://amp.square-enix-games.com/en_GB/news/final-fantasy-pixel-remaster
>no final fantasy
>no mario RPG
>no chrono trigger
Square would NEVER let nintendo have their properties for a pay service. They won't be able to re-release them and charge $70 (for a 5th time in FF4/6's case).
>No TMNT or Secret of Mana
release of a collection that's multiplat, would take value out of buying it if you could play one of them for "free"
>No Konami games
The Nintendo Switch isn't a pachinko machine. Konami doesn't care.
>Harvest moon/Umihara Kawase
Lets be honest, nobody would give a shit since they wasn't english released in the first place.
>Lets be honest, nobody would give a shit since they wasn't english released in the first place.
The first ever HM was translated on SNES. One of its last games in America, actually.
every Umihara Kawase game is on steam, so clearly there's an audience.
>Square would NEVER let nintendo have their properties for a pay service.
Lol what? Square has the PS5 version of FF7 remake(with the dlc) on PS Plus, along with multiple other final fantasy and dragon quest games. GamePass has Final Fantasy every mainlinegame from 7 to the 13 trilogy.
I imagine the problem here is that Nintendo is too fricking cheap to pay for the license. Which explains the absolutely shit tier support for their service besides the first party games.
third party support on the service isnt ENTIRELY bad. it DOES have Earthbound, and Journey to Sillius.
Don't forget Crystalis, that game is a classic
Square just wants the money to go straight to them, like with the Switch ports of 7 through 12 (minus 11) and the upcoming Pixel Remasters. Putting them on NSO puts food in Nintendo's mouths.
>Too cheap to pay the license
I wouldn't be surprised if square also made it a bidding war to get the rights to 'service' their games too. They probably consider themself a sony company at this point anyway, they've made most of their games since the mid-90s for the playstation after all.
>No Square RPG's
>No Enix RPG's
>No Falcom
>No Ultima
it was destined to flop
Why didn't it flop then?
cause its free with your multiplayer service.
If we wanna get anal, there is technically ONE Square RPG: Breath of Fire.
Maybe two, I forget if they helped with the sequel.
They just localized it (and poorly at that)
Too bad the only good breath of fire games were PS1 games. The SNES ones were' pretty flawed.
BoF2 especially with that fricking endgame dungeon.
No the Switch online service just gets a few good first-party Nintendo games and then the rest it the absolute dregs of the SNES library. No third-party dev with any decent games is going to put them on this service because they're more valuable being held back and resold as a stand-alone purchases. Just look up a list of the best SNES games and pirate them if you're interested in seeing the best of what the console has.
First problem is that the SNES (and the NES) controllers were EXTREMELY precise in ways that modern consoles aren't. The games used that precision. But the Switch can't replicate it.
Second problem is that a lot of the "SNES Classics" are worse than their NES counterparts. I know Ganker doesn't want to admit it, but it's the truth. Of course, the SNES games were impressive at the time with better graphics, better music, better realized world, more content... but the gameplay was worse. The games were already casualized. NES games were way more challenging. If you play a NES game today, it might FEEL like the game is broken or "janky", but only because games have become so easy. If you keep pushing at it, eventually you can of reach a "I get it" part were the game becomes a lot more "understandable". I don't know how else to put it. It's not just that you become better at the game, but that you start understanding the design philosophy behind the gameplay, so things stop feeling "unfair" and when you die, you go from "WTF that was bullshit" to "Oh yeah, that was totally my fault".
Third problem is that yes, a lot of the best SNES games aren't on it.
The best games on the service I think are the Donkey Kong Country games, Super Mario Kart and F-Zero.
Super Mario World, Super Matroid and A Link to the Past are all fun games, but inferior to their NES predecessors.
Important games that are missing would be Castlevania, Megaman, Contra 3, Bomberman,
There was a lot of good JRPGs on the SNES but the only ones available on the service are subpar ones. No Final Fantasy, no Chrono Trigger, no Dragon Quest, no Mario RPG.
Not even the most moronic contrarian would claim that Super Metroid is worse than NEStroid
Super Metroid is way too easy. Nothing more to it.
NES Metroid was the game hardcore gamers played back then when they thought NES Mario and NES Zelda were too easy (and NES Mario and NES Zelda are too hard for today's gamers). I know, I was there. The reason Super Metroid blew up was because it was way easier so kids could play it. People today go back and try NES games and quickly give up because the games are too hard and they blame it on "jank". If you actually give them an honest try and push past your comfort zone, you will see how good the games are.
Such a stupid opinion. Almost all NES games are super difficult because of terrible design. Metroid 1 had loads of flaws due to lack of technology. Who the frick would want their audience to accidentally fall in an acid pit that you can't escape from because the controls are janky as hell. Who wants to "explore" 50 of literally the exact same rooms down to the pixel. Enemies and their projectiles disappearing and still hitting you, or following you through walls. The constant flickering and flashing. It was good for its time, but super is about 100x better.
it's useless arguing with morons. people like him think any aspect of bad game design is actually super intentional and it's sad.
You wrote all that just to prove that you've never played on these platforms or their games
Saying Super Metroid is worse than Metroid becuase SM is easier is just dumb. Not everyone plays videogames "to challenge themselves". SM does everything better than Metroid, even tho I agree its kind of too easy.
>First problem is that the SNES (and the NES) controllers were EXTREMELY precise in ways that modern consoles aren't.
How does this make sense with emulation?
Because companies realized they can sell collections for 40-60 bux instead of 2-5 bux apiece, where everyone just pick the best games and ignore junk.
Imagine paying Nintendo for SNES ROMs when you could play every SNES game ever on a Steam Deck for free.
>Deck
Also a terrible way to play SNES games.
Yes.
>Almost every game on this service sucks
But I thought that old thing was good...
Its missing most of the Capcom stuff and pretty much anything from Konami and Square. Thats the problem.
Mega Man, Street Fighter, and Castlevania have their own compilations, so from a business perspective, it makes sense. But Wily Wars is on the Mega Drive one.
Probably cuz its on the Genesis Mini. But who knows how these contracts work.
If you want to understand how the corporate world works, the first thing you must do is snort a giant pile of cocaine.
This is mostly due to SE being israelites, and Capcom porting everything in separate collections.
No Mario RPG is still a fricking crime.
Like I said, it's SE being israelites.
Its a kick in the balls since that WAS on the SNES Mini, so it should still count.
It's also weird since SMRPG was also on the Virtual Console, both on Wii and WiiU. Something's weird. Square Enix played ball on the SMRPG shit in Smash Ultimate. I can't seriously believe that the actual game would suddenly be a step way too far for Nintendo to bother working out an NSO release.
Square greed, I bet. They KNOW people want Geno and Mallow back so they dangle it in front of us (and Nintendo) like a string in front of a cat.
They put too many bad ones on it and it drags down the whole library. It's not missing that many good games that you would EXPECT to be on it, Mario RPG and Earthbound are about it. (Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Dragon Quest, Goemon, Bomberman, Castelvania would NEVER be added to it and they're only on the Genesis service because those versions of those games are Weird and the companies don't care that much to license them)
Earthbound is on there now
>But Muh Super Mario RPG
>and they're only on the Genesis service because those versions of those games are Weird and the companies don't care that much to license them)
Or because they were already licensed for the Genesis Mini, maybe.
>Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Dragon Quest, Goemon, Bomberman, Castelvania
Except for Goemon and Bomberman, those games are all being sold separately by whatever publisher.
Trigger
Square has been holding that one hostage for one reason or another. They also have Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma and that pisses me off still.
Some anon a few days ago made a thread about a new game on Steam that seems inspired by Hagane and looks really good, but I forgot to put it in my wishlist and forgot what the title was.
Vengeful Guardian Moonrider
That was it, thanks!
they’re not called Midtendo for nothing
>world worse than 4
>super star worse than adventure
>castlevania 4 worse than the nes games
>megaman 7 worse than the nes games
>superscope worse than zapper
>no good platformers excwpt maybe yoshi's island
>most games aged horriblyblike starfox and dkc
>worse versions of arcade and pc games like street fighter 2 and doom
>muffled pillow fart audio with horrible sounding reverb
>got the worst versions of many multiplay games like earthworm jim and toy story
>dude mode 7
>more shovelware than nes
>dkc aged horribly
shit bait, dude. try harder.
It felt dated by the tine DKC2 came out.
Okay, I'll agree with this. DKC 2 was so fricking good, 1 did feel dated by comparison, but 1 is still a very good game in its own right.
DKC1 is kamige tho
>no good platformers excwpt maybe yoshi's island
X1 is the best platformer of all time THOUGH
>world worse than 4
4 is world you dumb fricking boomer tryhard.
So unnecessarily angry. Did mommy burn your spaghetti o's again?
How can you possibly have an educated videogame opinion if you lose count of mario games that are literally named with numbers. Seriously, what fricking game did you think existed between 3 and world?
>retro is bogged down by idiots jerking off over filters and scraping the bottom of the barrel for "hidden gems"
>new shit is awful and kids are getting the shittiest version imaginable of old games, and the first thing they encounter when looking for alternatives is aforementioned idiots
Grim.
All anime games on SNES are masterpieces.
Okay so name 3
Idol Janshi Suchie-Pai
Cotton 100%
Ghost Sweeper Mikami
Ranma ½: Chougi Rambuhen
based: fellow Cotton enjoyer
cringe: you liked 100%
89 Cotton was a worthless piece of shit media.
89 Cotton was great and it had a solid remake a few years ago
Cotton 100% was dogshit and felt like a slower version of Cotton 89 with worse gameplay
Panorama Cotton is the GOAT regarding Cotton games
Cotton 2/Boomerang are serviceable. Flawed, but not bad by any means
Rainbow Cotton is the worst game in the series. awful.
Cotton Rock n Roll/Fantasy is pretty solid, and has some neat crossover levels.
this isn't opinion, this is fact.
No NES game was better than ANYTHING on SNES.
Disagree. Playing NES games like Bucky O'Hare and Gimmick really opened my eyes to how good the NES library is, and some of these games stand toe to toe with the best on SNES.
False. Sunsoft's in-house output on the 16 bit platforms was almost always dogshit after they completely moved on from the 8-bit era. Their Neo Geo fighters are some of the very few exceptions. But if you want a more direct comparison: Final Fight; the port of FF1 on SNES was dogshit but Mighty Final Fight on NES absolutely stomps it just by sheer virtue of having all three original playable characters. Plus I'd argue that the largely original music score sounds better than the SNES port's conversions of the arcade soundtrack.
Mono audio is dogshit as is 8 bit compared to 16.
The NES version of this soundtrack demolishes the 16-bit versions.
>Batman Return of the Joker
Apparently this game is hard to emulate on the NES Mini because it used a special sound chip.
If we're gonna use another example of NES versions being better than SNES versions YS 3 on SNES was garbage but the Famicom version was surprisingly decent and had better music than whatever the snes version produced
Though when you think about it. Nihon Falcom's entire run on Super Nintendo/Super Famicom wasn't great.
YS 3: a poor version of the original
YS 4 Mask of the Sun: A lot of people prefer Dawn of Ys
YS 5 Sands of Keflin: considered the black sheep of the family
Brandish 1 and 2: Brandish 1 on snes isn't that great and I don't got much to say about the sequel
Popful Mail: Honestly its an alright version but you're much better playing the Sega CD version instead.
I think Cotton 2/Boomerang is pretty notable for having some crazy mechanics for a HORI shmup. Juggling stuff for points, grabbing enemies, it has a lot of great gimmicks to the gameplay. Boomerange is better than 2 imo, feels like the final version of the game.
I did like those mechanics, i'll have to replay Boomerang at some point cause I don't think I gave it enough of a fair chance. I played 2 and Boomerang back to back and didn't give the mechanics enough time to click with me.
how is Star Ocean relevant to my comment?
Never heard of them
One that I look at for reference sometimes for pixel art: Kishin Douji Zenki - Battle Raiden
>service
the entire snes library is like 100 mb my dude, you could literally pirate every snes game in existance in other 5 seconds if you applied yourself.
Genesis was always the better system. The wrong company went third party.
Yep.
Yeah, and the PS5 is a better system than ps4, but guess what, no games
you are 30 years too late dumbass, imagine wanting to be amazed by a 60s game in the 90s
Basically the third-party devs took a note out of Nintendo's israelited schemes with overpriced ports and took anything notable left of theirs to release separately, either via insultingly small full-priced compilations or low-effort remakes. Remember, this was when third-party was still king on Nintendo; their own games may form the underlying "bones" of the platforms, but the third parties gave the NES and the SNES most of the meat on those bones.
>Now Zoomers are shitting on the SNES
Why are zoomers so obsessed with being contrarians?
They love their parents who survive off their baby boomer grandparents and welfare.
They've only ever known the like/upvote/total views version of the web, and being contrarian is an easy way to get engagement.
Yes yes, the SNES was bad and your outlook has absolutely nothing to do with you being too young or too poor to have been able to experience it in its heyday.
I'm still pissed that they're not transferring anything from the WiiU or 3DS. I wanted to buy the Metroid Prime Trilogy, but not only do they disallow payment processors, not only can you not buy it through the Switch, but you can't even keep it for future consoles, and I feel guilty pirating it. But I'm not spending 300 bucks on a used POS from ebay.
I played SMW with a joy con... It was awful as the joy con is one of the worse controllers ever
Uncharted Waters: New Horizons
I genuinely cannot believe people are actually defending the fricking fact that you have to pay $50 a year to access Nintendo 64 games
$4.17 a month is an insult to the N64.
Reminder
Mike is a pretentious moron. some of these games are abhorrently bullshit and rewinds/save states are meant to alleviate the tedium.
>T..they exist to alleviate tedium
It exists to keep zoomers short attention span who suck at videogames.
Especially the games on the SNES, there's absolutely no game hard enough that you can't just man the frick up and take the occasional death. You have to be an actual brainlet to game over in the choice of games on there.
NES you can make an argument for, but needing to use it on the SNES just shows you're pathetically bad at videogames.
>playing to avoid game overs
That stopped being a challenge when I was a little kid lol
Exactly. all the games on the SNES service are easy games.
I was specifically talking about the ones on the SNES player switch service, I know there's actual hard shit like gradius 3 and contra on the actual SNES. But using savestates to "beat" the game defeats the point, you aren't supposed to beat those games but have fun seeing how far you can get. That's why even when you finish old games it still says "Game over".
>why even when you finish old games it still says "Game over".
I met a kid at school back then that gave his games away cause he thought the game simply ended when it hit game over. His mom beat him down for giving me his games.
Contra had an ending, Mega Man1-6 all have endings, Gimmick has an ending, Bucky O'Hare has an ending. Sure, arcade games were meant for high scores, but those also looped after you beat them. Games on the NES and SNES had endings you were meant to see, so yes, beating them is the point.
>SNES just shows you're pathetically bad at videogames.
play Gradius 3 arcade edition. Then come back to this thread and say you beat it without getting a game over or using save states.
Gradius 3 Arcade is a prime example of why rewinds and save states are necessary. that game is bullshit and unfun.
Good for you. Still didn't beat the game though.
>being limited to paltry selection of poorly emulated games
Break free.
I pay for the expansion service but I probably won't next time the resub rolls around. They just haven't been adding enough games to make it worth it. I still have to make my way through the whole N64 library but the slow rate they've been trickling them in is worrisome. That and how they haven't been adding anything of value to the SNES, let alone anything new at all for Sega.
Like I get it, these are consoles with libraries that haven't been updated in decades but I feel like there's still so much more that could be added and they just don't care or aren't willing to work to get them on.
I also guess that leak from ages back with rumors of a GB/GBA addon amounted to nothing so far? I haven't heard anything about it since at least.
The Switch's VC replacement slowing down as rapidly as it did is also very concerning considering what a delayed start it had and how staggered the addition of supported consoles was.
it's so slow i can't even imagine what service they'll bring for the next hardware. ditch shovelware, nobody wants that on their catalog.
I think they might just simply forgo wholesale classic ROM offerings and arrogantly pay premiums for piecemeal or small collections. Super Mario 3D All-Stars definitely showed Nintendo that they were barking up the wrong tree with both Virtual Console and NSO ROMs.
>limited digital release
I fricking hate Nintendo. You can't even say it's a licensing issue, because it's their OWN FRICKING IP.
the N64 game release slowing down as hard as it did isn't surprising, the console just didn't have that many games. They really need to get third party support on board to prop it up.
I'd love to replay some fun shit like bomberman 64 but that's likely never going to happen.
Imagine complaining about something that's free when you pay for online services.
Are you moronic? SNES games aren't free, you're paying for them when you pay for the online service.
No you're paying for online service, you fricking moron. SNES and NES libraries are free content exclusively for NSO subscribers.
actual moron
I think officially you're paying for online multiplayer and cloud saves. NES and SNES are just bonuses.
But online multi-player on switch is awful. Only the dumbest Hispanic moron with zero standards would deal with switch netplay.
Kids don't care.
And look how bad it was after a few years. They need to space it out, but this is ridiculous.
>Kids don't care
Firstly, hopefully you are not a kid and don't want to play with 12 years olds on wifi, so I don't see how this applies to you. Secondly, kids are playing on their phones, not switch. The switch is for 30 year old fat manchildren on drugs.
So... in order to access these free games I must pay a mandatory $20 every year? That’s a very strange free.
So do you view it as getting to play games online as a free bonus for paying to play an emulator?
Don't be a Black person. The NES/SNES emulator is just nintendos version of playstation plus free games except only old games and barely updated. You're paying for the online and the rest is a bonus used to sweeten the deal.
still an actual moron
If someone gives you free gas do you complain because you had to buy your car? Fricking moron
always and forever a moron
you can play as a boy that punches you with his dick, how can you say this service sucks
The SNES is pretty overrated, basically big game on the system has been superseded by later games, with the possible exception of Super Metroid.
>hard games are bad
>getting better at games is bad
Switch produced a generation of the biggest diaper wearing man babies ever.
Literally nobody is saying that you moron. Plus SNES games for the most part are baby tier difficulty.
Let's see your sub-40 X1 clear.
>wasting time on getting better; when having a immense backlog to play.
Unless you want the high score or trophies then there is no point in getting better at a video game.
hard games aren't bad, games that are hard for bullshit reasons are bad. again, imma point to Gradius 3 arcade. Wings of Vi as well, but that's INTENTIONALLY bullshit so idk if that counts.
give me your honest opinion Ganker, what makes nintendo slow on releasing games for the NSO? a scummy service with shitty shovelware and Special versions clogging up the menu. However, it is partially due to other third parties doing remakes/remasters or collections, so that may be due to the lack of services.
drip feed service. The Virtual Console on the Wii had new games every week.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_games_for_Wii_(North_America)#Nintendo_Entertainment_System
I woke up at like 5 in the morning to play this game at the lowest volume setting so I could play the frick out of this before school. It's a short game, but it's fun as hell. The first of the series sucks ass though
how in the hell have they not gotten the GCN library? Eventually they're going to have to port or remaster 3DS games (better than stuck on Online Service) on new hardware. also it's a shame those wiiware titles are lost to time.
>No Super Mario RPG
>No Final Fantasy III-VI
>No Chrono Trigger
>No Killer Instinct
>No Mortal Kombat games
>No Lion's King
>No Illusion of Gaia
>No Jurassic Park
Just to name a few
This service is shite
What are you talking about? I've got them all on my service just fine
Lion King(SNES, Genesis and i think GB) got its own re-release with the Aladdin and Jungle Book games.
Its actually pretty good.
Well, the port quality. Game Boy and NES Lion King are both garbage.
i only bother with Genesis Lion King, but I agree that the port quality is pretty solid. Now if only Capcom would re-release their Little Mermaid and Goof Troop games,
Weird they haven't, they did that Disney Afternoon thing a few years ago.
Yes sir...
Yeah i was surprised to not see Goof Troop on there, but I think some other company owns the rights to Goofy games currently so Capcom can't do much with it. As for Little Mermaid, that should've been on the other collection. Disney Afternoon Collection is pretty solid though. even has a speedrun mode for each game.
>>No Chrono Trigger
watch this get an 2DHD remake
>get an 2DHD remake
lmao more like a DS ver port
they're going to pull a pixel remaster and have stuff from the bottom screen into the extras where you have maps, art, soundtrack, etc.
Every service companies provide these days is shit.
3rd world opinions are disregarded
NES is a 3rd world console.
Nah 3rd worlders had Master System
No that's sega.
In the 80s and early 90s master system and pc were all you frickers could play and when you finally got SNES all the games suffered because of your 4th world tech and poverty
>all the games suffered because of your 4th world tech
Absolutely spot on, kek have you ever seen the cold diarrhea they were playing that they claimed was so much better than those bloody yanks and their nintendos
Literally every kid in America played mario and sonic. If I was forced to play games with sub human tech I would kill my entire family
Instead of that neat list of ultra popular games this service should provide good games that were either never released outside japan or games that never got proper attention. Instead of screaming muh Earthbound or muh Chrono Trigger, ask for Terranigma or Dual Orb 2 or Chaos Seed.
Is Raspberry any good for emulation?
works for me
Is there a console that even comes close to the SNES? Closest I can think of is maybe the PS1 but it's missing a good first party catalogue of characters like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong...
The 3rd party stuff was amazing, though and it had some of the best RPGs of the 90s.
>it's missing a good first party catalogue of characters like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong...
It's not though, it got ape escape.
>hating SMW
have a nice day.
I never heard about Operation Logic Bomb and I played it to completion and was pleasantly surprised. There's also that fireman game, there's Wild Guns, Psycho Dream is kind of crusty but the presentation is really original, there's actually stuff in there that people should try out, just because you never heard about a certain game doesn't mean it shouldn't be played. Play obscure games, don't just play the internet's top 10 list. I'm not even talking about what the Switch is offering at the moment. Get out there and emulate an obscure NES, SNES, Genesis, whatever game, you might have fun with it.
get Wild Guns Reloaded. its an amazing remaster that only improves upon the original while retaining the soul.
Where is it Nintendo?
Why is it so hard for people to just emulate games on their PC? Why do you need to play them on some shitty external hardware or with shitty mods and filters? Just play the games.
This is easier and you can play in your bed.
It's actually easier and faster to emulate, you're just technologically illiterate
No. It's definitely not easier, in fact it's almost impossible to get the same quality and genuine experience
You can't do cool shit while laying in bed. Also, spending your free time in bed is extremely bad for your posture, mental health, and a lot of other things.
>You can't do cool shit while laying in bed
Your mom disagrees
Some people (mostly gen z) simply cannot figure out how to emulate. Others refuse out of principle, it's idiotic. They're just missing out on amazing games.
Instead we get obnoxious shit like the constant begging for Earthbound for years, or even Mother 3, where they outright pretend a perfectly good translation doesn't exist just because it's not official. Undertale really brought about a generation of insufferable c**ts.
>Some people (mostly gen z) simply cannot figure out how to emulate.
want to know something? people born today wont know how to use a keyboard.
Literally everybody and their mother knows how to emulate SNES you moron.
Switch is convenient to play chilling on the couch or in bed. I don’t always want to be sat at my PC desk. Simple as.
I have a PSP that does the same, emulates NES, SNES, GBA, PSX, Genesis flawlessly. For free. Instead you'd rather pay for it and complain that a massive popular game like Chrono Trigger isn't on the list, instead of games that actually deserve some attention.
>I have a PSP
Hey cool blog post I don’t nor do I care to get one.
>don't buy console for games
>buy psp for Nintendo games
Braindead
Emulating games is like reading books but you skip every other page and fill in the blanks with your own terrible ideas. Emulating is garbage
literally (You) holy shit
the frick does that even mean? how is emulation at all like that? emulation is the only way to play some games since they're not available legally, or they were japan only. emulation is great. hell, you can make games look and run BETTER through emulators thanks to graphics and performance hacks.
I agree emulation is great but it's also not without its issues. Generally, with the exception of the gamecube and wii, newer consoles have gotten harder and harder to emulate effectively. And I'm not talking about power, I mean a huge percentage of games on new consoles just don't fricking work or run like shit. For example, I wanted to emulate Luigi's Mansion 2 a while back but it's extremely difficult to get it to work at all. It would be really nice if Nintendo could do emulators for some of these newer consoles just to get more games compatible.
>Why is it so hard
Paletteeeeeeeeeeeee ToT!!!
From speaking to Switch owners and people who buy compilations, I think some people like the feeling of owning a game officially, even if it can be easily emulated for free. For others (mostly zoomers) it's just more convenient than downloading and setting up RetroArch, which isn't hard and doesn't take long to do, but some people just don't know about it. That and some Nintendo fans are weird about emulation from an ethical standpoint, most likely because Nintendo themselves are so up in arms against it for some reason. And of course OP owns a Switch so he's gonna buy games for it, even if he can just play them on PC or any other platform. I agree that more people should just emulate, though.

I'm a fan of emulating old games but I don't like emulating new games personally. The reason why is because if you don't buy it, then it may just stop getting made. It is the logical decision to support franchises you enjoy because otherwise you get F-Zero or at least Pikmin.

Yeah, this went over really well for people who liked Star Fox and Chibi-Robo.

There just weren't enough of you. Voting doesn't always mean your candidate will win and the same is true of voting with your wallet, but if you don't vote you don't get to complain about the result.
>Just buy a shitty game bro so that they'll make the games that you actually like instead of the one you just bought en masse
Business doesn't work like this
Star Fox was more a victim of being used as a guinea pig for console gimmics, with Command on the DS and Zero on the Wii U when for decades people have been asking for something as simple as Star Fox 64 2. It's just sad when Kid Icarus and Kirby Planet Robobot gave us better Star Fox experiences than Star Fox itself.
you wonder why they haven't done a gameboy line for the switch?
Saving it for later. The emulator was already leaked.
so what service do you think nintendo will do for 2024 if the rumored console will arrive?
Gamecube, maybe.
i thnk in hindsight, its collections, remasters, or remakes that made the service complete trash.
No, it's definitely the hardware.
its because they dont have any really good obscure games like my boy Spike from the TWISTED TALES OF SPIKE MCFANG man that shit was kino same for the n64 one too, and the sega one
So you don't enjoy Kirby Super Star or A Link to the Past?
The real value from Nintendo retro games is from the gba/gamecube/ds/wii
Sadly, none of those are on NSO yet, meaning it's pretty fricking worthless. But I do think when Nintendo one day gets around to adding these games it could be worth it, if they don't increase the price too much.
no
panel de pon is pretty fun
It's a good console. It was my favorite for a long time before I got into SEGA CD and TurboGrafx CD. Maybe you're just playing the wrong games, start with Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and Mega Man X, then play the sequels of each. Kirby is good too. If you're looking for a deeper gameplay experience there's the RPG's, but I guess if it's really not your cup of tea there's always Genesis?
Do you like shmups? You might like Gradius III or the Parodius games. The latter is on Saturn and PS1 but I actually experienced them first on Super Famicom. It also has the superior ports of Street Fighter II imo.
is it true Umihara Kawase is on the JP version now?
It's just first party shit you've played a grilling times. A lot of studios aren't letting games on there because they're being resold (CastleVania, FF, a ton of beat em ups, Rocky and Pocky). I'd love for them to strike a deal with SE to dive deep into their vault. The Quintet games, Brain Lord, Twisted Tales of Spike McFang...
They have enough first party games to sell the thing themselves, they're not not using them. The most requested consoles are definitely the gamecube/wii/ds/3ds, none of which are on there. It's embarrassing that NSO has been around for like 4 years now and still none of the most requested consoles are on there.
>Super Metroid
>ALTTP Redux
Let me guess, you need more? I bought an everdrive (at half off) and almost exclusively use it for alttp and sm randos on my crt setup, worth every penny
I'm playing the N64 collection and it's very underwhelming, but I don't want to blame Nintendo itself when most of the games I'd like to see completely depend on the company's willingness to make them available or if said games are currently for purchase in other platforms, like Turok or Episode 1 Racer. It's still a miracle that we're getting Goldeneye but I wish there was more variety for the price one has to pay for the membership pass. The rate of release is way too slow overall and not worth it outside of getting the extra freebies like the MK8D Season Pass or the Octo Expansion.
Even if Nintendo wanted to speed up releases, the N64 had frick all for games, particularly first party. They really need to just add gamecube but sadly we're at least 3 years away from that because they need to add gameboy and gba first.
At least give me Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo Tooie, we know that there's still good relationship between Nintendo and Rare so that's a possibility. Also, who holds the rights of Acclaim games? I know Turok might be impossible since the games are available on PC but I'd like to see Extreme G someday.
