If so, how are you not jaded and tired of it all?

      >pokemon rom hacks
I recently played Unbound and I enjoyed the combination of difficulty and the tools the game gave you to deal with it. Do you happen to know any romhacks that fall into a similar category?

I don't, I'm actualy getting filtered by Unbound right now but it's also the most impressive hack I've ever played

Always feels bad when you think you've made a solid strategy and then things fall apart.
Enjoy the rest of your playthrough and good luck with the Elite 4. Frick the fact that half of them are double battles because it's a b***h to deal with all the weird terrain shit and balancing a team that can do both singles and doubles.

maybe once or twice out of the year at most and it's usually some indie title I played a demo for years prior
games from the big three or other major developers rarely interest me, I think elden ring was the only one of those I bought last year and it was on a whim really

literally the only thing I'm really looking forward to this year is b3313 sequel and it probably won't even come out this year anyway

Nah gaming is dead. Its all for profit garbage now. So everything feels the same and looks the same. Being nostalgic for it is also pointless. You'll never go back to those times of games just being fun.

No. Saints Row The Third was so terrible that I became skeptical of every game before release.

There are only 2 or 3 new games a year that I'm interested in. I usually wait a week or two after release to see how the game is before I buy it. I don't buy that many new games within the first week unless I KNOW I'll really like it. Otherwise, I mostly buy older games I skipped over for a cheaper price. The last game I got 'hyped' for was Elden Ring and that didn't dissapoint.

Pretty much never, except if there's a new game from some obscure series I like. I mostly stick with games from that era and before.

33 here, sure, but I mostly don't play AAA, I lean to indie games. Don't think I could ever have time to finish all I want to play.

Been in the outer rim of vidya for the past couple gens cause too broke for it, really. I'd be keeping up more if i could afford it, but i have noticed a lack of player and dev brain power over the years. Was hoping games'd've gotten more buttony by now, but the sheer variety available is pretty neat at least

I can assure you I am quite jaded and tired of console games. The only current-gen console I own is the Wwitch which has failed to impress me lately and TotK looks to be a complete misfire.

I didn't do it back then and I don't now.
Please don't buy games until actual reviews from people who actually played the game are out there.
Mostly I buy from word of mouth about story and looking at some generic game footage for gameplay.

As someone who's earliest games are almost all sixth gen, I can safely say everything has gone to shit and turned for the worst. The earliest games I have played that I can recall would be UT99, Utawarerumono, and NFS3 and I can safely say that modern gaming is almost irredeemably fricked. The one somewhat redeeming thing about modern gaming is indie developers and new up and comers. The problem being that a lot of them just follow the same exact tropes that AAA garbage devs keep implementing. Everyone wants the oh so delicious cut of the pie and no one wants to actually earn it

Okay, I can understand UT99 and NFS3, but how in the frick does someone have Under Water Ray Romano as one of their first games? That's pretty fricking niche.
      Good taste, at least.

Used to get excited for new games like diablo 3. However, i have other priorities in life now. Playing some psp roms whenever i have long down time like in the airport or waiting for hotels check out.

Honestly i prefer games that are distinguish from the other games like journey, subnautica, hollow knight.

Yes I still find lots of enjoyment in vidya, still reading the back of the case before playing just like I used to. I think people complaining about everything being crap have other issues going on but jump on the lowest hanging fruit of the industry, ike openly trash shit and actual blunders, to justify their own cynicism.

I usually wait a year or so since I'm still a poorgay. Let's me get the gold edition of resident evil games for around $20. Recently I finally bought Elden Ring, for $30, even though I've been Miyazaki fanboy since Dark Souls 1. I take my time with vidya so these games actually last me several months. But I'm more likely to play rougelikes like Slay the Spire or Hades. I still love vidya man. My pro-tip is to avoid schizo threads.

Not really. There are games I still purchase close to release if I'm interested but that's rare, I don't get "hype" for anything any more.

If you play games long enough two things will happen. One, you'll get burnt badly by something you were hyped for and it will kill the sentiment for anything else going forward. Two, games are so iterative of each other now that eventually you will have basically already played everything and there's very little new out there.

I use game pass trials as a demo
