do a sl1 run if you want something slightly different from a normal playthrough. The DLCs in particular were really fun.

Frick off back to Ganker or /vg/ if you don't even want to pretend to play an RPG, troony.

yeah, das2 has a special place in my heart
something about the slight jank surrounding it is really comfy

I played once as a str/faith build then sotfs with a pyromancer, both are pretty fun
I think next time I decide to play will be dex, maybe with spears since I have never really used them in a dark souls game
    >preferred route
I just played the game, it takes me where ever I need to go, though usually the first thing I do after the giant is let the bird take me to the next zone

I hardly remember anything from the DLC's beside the ice one

    Yeah I loved DS2.
    >What's your favorite build?
Unga bunga zweihander with a minor focus on casting, just to have a couple buffs, heal and a ranged option.
    >Preferred route through the game?
Giant > Prisoner > Spider > Machete blob thing > Castle > Crypt > Dragons > Poison dlc > Lava dlc > Ice dlc > Throne of want.

    >start game with petrified somethign
    >restart until Old Whip
    >carry 99 repair powder with you always
    >one shot literally every boss and breeze through the entire game

    >souls game with the best pvp
    >also the worst invasions
why does it always have to be like this?

the rpg aspect of it is good but the rampant hacking and shit matchmaking is a tragedy

probably my favorite in the series to play single player or co-op but the pvp is kind of ass cause of the weird hitboxes and netcode

My favorite build was dex with those dual toxic daggers you get from snake lady, use an ascetic for two. I had to eventually switch the weapon in the DLC though. I also really enjoyed the "speedrun" to a hex build you can find on youtube and using the Disc Chime as a melee weapon, which was absurdly powerful but that build drops HARD on the DLC. I had to beat all the bosses to death with the Sanctum Shield because nothing else did damage.

I actually incredibly hate DS2, gave it plenty of chances by buying it twice, normal and SotFS editions and nothing, still ass.

It feels like PS2-era generic weeb narrative game compared to DkS1.

I'm a Xennial(1980). DkS2 is disposable weeb-tier drek with a side of Ubisoft. Stay mad.

the troubles of it's birth foretold it's greatness, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2 are the only real Souls games

Not RPG. But play then while you still can, Dragon's Dogma 2 will end all of From Shovelware's dogshit template.

Most fun build I had was recreating the happy souls characters with a buddy, nothing special really but it was still fun.

I like it more than 1. 1's areas just feel kind of boring, and areas like blighttown and grave of the giants and the depths are just miserable. The only area in 2 that comes close to them is the gutter and once you know how you can easily skip through 80% of the zone.

How anyone can prefer the mess that was Dark Souls 2 over 1 is honestly beyond me. All I remember from Dark Souls 2 is areas filled with enemies upon enemies. Now Dark Souls 1 had some really shitty areas (Tomb of the Giants, Lost Izalith, New Londo Ruins) but those doesnt come close to the absolute shit that was Shrine of Amana or Black Gulch

      >Shrine of Amana or Black Gulch
You mean the areas specifically designed for summoning like the entire DLCs are?

what kind of butthole even summons in black gulch, that place is for running through
I like amana I don't know why it butt devastates people, it's one of the only nice looking areas in DS2 after the lighting engine got ripped out

          >I don't know why it butt devastates people
Really? You don't know why a map full of hidden grabbers and ranged enemies that aggro from the other side of the map makes people seethe?
Tb h I like the area a lot aesthetically speaking and I don't mind th enemies much either (I would if the ambushers didn't have the visual cue above them though), the thing that really annoys me is having to look out for the deep water.

Honestly I'm 'more options" type guy. And did Dark Souls 2 provided in that regard. And I would play one over two. Sadly this doesn't make King's Field spiritual successor a good dark souls game. None of the sequels manage to capture same magic as both dark and demon's souls did. Same with Evergrace.

Rush the blind swordsman boss, rush to trade her soul for the sinner's sword
bonfire ascetic her and kill her again for another soul to get the fire buff pyromancy
use sinner sword to hit for a billion damage with just enough stats to wield it
