Just play animal crossing you dumbass boomer
>still can't marry, date, or even be roommates with the animals
Nah
Which animal crossing should I emulate?
No.
Any of them except the new ones.
Any on the psx or ps2. Also rune factory
Rune factory
Original
Friends of mineral town
DS
Sunshine islands
extras:
a wonderful life
GB3
That's it, that's all the good ones, don't play any of the newer ones
as someone who grew up with harvestmoon 64
i wish i had back to nature instead.
a wonderful life always felt like it was low budget.. but i didnt play much of that one. all my friends got gamesharks and put infinite money. made the game pointless
fuck I forgot about 64, I never played that when the N64 is current and now I can't play that without becoming immediately frustrated by the slowness
the days go by way too quick on n64. and without a guide honestly a lot of shit will pass you by. as a kid i gave rare metal to rick for years with no pay off.
and i didnt know you can save the grapevine or match make other villagers
>that's all the good ones, don't play any of the newer ones
Fucking tired of this meme, the 3DS games are fantastic
they're ok but I'd consider them spiritual successors at most, they don't play anything like the classics
They suck ass the only thing that kept me going was getting Hamtaro in year 2 or 3 whatever time you get some of the weird unreleased DLC
can we agree that all the natsume "harvest moon" game are dogshit?
I kind of liked Magical Melody because it feels like bootleg Animal Crossing but that comes with the draw of every character spouting the same shit every day and I usually get bored by Autumn. Maybe you'd like it more.
MM has great gameplay but when starting you almost need a guide for what presents to give to what villagers. Else its hard to figure out how to raise affection without having to give them super expensive shit. Once you get some affection levels going, especially with the right villagers, you unlock tons of stuff like new land, upgrades and dialogue
I would just play with a gamefaq list of all villagers and which presents they like opened at all times and constantly check which cheap items make good presents
Besides that, I think its really fun building up your farm and eventually buying up the entire town, gives you a real nice sense of progression
Gamecube
FoMT as always.
Also rune factory games. Start with 1. If you start with the older titles you will get fucked because of the lack of QoL
My favorites are Back to Nature and SNES.
is the snes one good still? it seems too rudimentary
Afraid I can't give a non-biased opinion on it as I see the game through a massive pair of nostalgia goggles.
yea i understand that. i jumped from NES to N64 so i never got to play snes games as a kid. probably would have hooked me
FoMT is classic, but also the first DS entry. People said the DS one sucked because it just is a fancier FoMT (as if that's a bad thing), but looking back it was the peak of the series.
indeed, while I don't like the art direction as much the gameplay had a ton of upgrades... and a lot of bugs.
I would play the girl version for the bugfixes but localizers completely removed the ability to marry (or rather "best friend") girls and nobody has made a patch to fix that yet, what the fuck
>making a gay hack is somehow more important than restoring marrying girls
I'm ok with playing as a guy to BUT LET ME MARRY GIRLS GOG DAMNIT
Which one let you fuck a mermaid?
That one.
64
Wonderful life
Friends of mineral town on GBA
DS is also fun if you dont mind the grammar errors and use cheats if the game fucks up
When did this series became gay?
either when guys started playing the girls version or after sunshine islands or after marvelous stole the name
A wonderful life
Animal parade
rune factory 3
Current ones? Probably none. I did enjoyed One World quite a bit but I'm a long time fan of HM/SoS series so I'm pretty charitable. It has it's comfy moments but the world it's soulless compared to SV. I wouldn't recommend older ones either. I like them, but for a newcomer you're not going to find anything there that you wouldn't find on SV done better other than anime waifus.
The Doraemon games are kinda fun, would recommend.
Most of the Story of Seasons games are pretty good, not on FoMT level, but still worth playing
Explain to my lizard brain why FoMT is better than Back to Nature. I thought the former was a demake of BtN.
FoMT has overall more stuff to collect, loads a lot faster and has more going on than HM BTN. BTN has more festivals though. The Tomato festival and the Goddess festival were eliminated on FoMT. Anyway, because of the game pace and loading times, FoMT is the best way to experience BTN in any modern sense. Note that when I say FoMT I'm referring to the GBA version of the game, not the Switch version which is considerably more crappy than both the original FoMT and BTN due to other changes they made.
