It's a very serious deeply touching story about homosexual men with silver hair wearing black coats and multiplying via traveling through time to mess with a talking mouse, dumb looking teenager and their friends, where everyone comes back to life through asspulls, because the concept of stakes is alien to the director. It has lots of depth since it's hard to follow. The fake emotional moments that involve half-baked caricatures of anime characters really resonate with me.
This is both factual and also the result of a concept artist being allowed to write. Nomura is simply not talented for anything other than visual design.
