Just learned about this game, pretty impressed with its fakemon stuff and am downloading the game right now.
My understanding its that its well, dead that its been in development hell for many years, is that true, the fakemon looks nice but is it really dead?
they aren't dead, but the pace they're at is so incredibly slow such that gen 13 would be released and all you'll ever hear them say is "we've finally made the animation for X move!"
Is the demo worth playing then even though its not finished then?
I mean if they will be finished if they will finish the game by 2050 i might as well play it now but is the demo any good?
Not really, it's just an old Essentials game so its not going to run well and it isn't very long
yeah might as well
We're still working on it. We finished Route 16 (pic) a few months ago, we're working on the city with thr 6th gym (Ossia) alongside finalizing the last few gym leaders and elite 4 members that don't have locked designs yet, among some other things.
In fact if any of you anons want to help me polish up some of my internal submissions for the poison chef e4 member I could use some input and help with tweaking some linework on that.
I'm biased, obviously, but I think so. I joined because I was impressed with the quality of designs and such to begin with.
Depends on what you're wanting, though: The core philsophy behind the project has always been to emulate the official approach to designing content and writing and features with select improvements and avoiding "gamefreak mistakes", so if you're expecting anything super esoteric or innovative compared to an actual Gen 4/5 pokemon game in terms of types, mechanics, the style of writing/narrative, etc, you won't find that.
It's a polished, well executed original Pokemon game with it's own region, charactrs, Pokemon, and the like, but that mostly sticks to the formula otherwise.
add fairy
not happening
I do too but i',m also sort of frustrated as I had plans to add more subtle shrubs and stuff and due to procedural stuff that didn't end up happening.
Nobody on the dev team, myself included, is going to give out estimated release dates or years. Every single year we've all thought we'd be done in 2-4 years and we've always been wrong, and we're not willing to give estimates anymore.
That being said, to be clear, nothing I say in this thread is me speaking for other devs or officially for the team, either, I'm speaking personally.
>not happening
enjoy your overpowered & unbalanced dragon types
>not happening
Based.
as i said, enjoy your overpowered & unbalanced dragon types
We only have 7 dragon mons, 1 of which is a legendary, 2 of which are pseudo legendaries, and the other 4 of which are all mid to late game only and are pretty rare.
good. dragons are cool
but overpowered & unbalanced
cause they almost always make pseudolegendaries dragons, not because the type itself is crazy.
I really like the way the vegetation looks here
Have you guys thought about how you're going to do the jungle yet?
There's been some discussion about stuff like route theming but less so about strict layouts, and nothing is confirmed or decided on yet beyond the region map shape in general, and that you're going to be able to get to fugue either through route 15 and then up through 18(? I may be mixing numbers up) or through route 17 and then through underwater cave.
I think most of us want at least one of the routes to be in the treetops, I also really, really want us to make use of intensely dense foliage and to make the map feel like you're wading through untamed areas, without it having like clear video game pathway areas, if that makes sense?
Obviously it'd need to still be intuitive to navigate, though.
Other devs on the team really don't like other projects using our mons or tiles (at least untill we finish, there's a general understanding, though nothing set in stone, that some assets will be made available to other fangames once we finish) so be careful where you mention this: Even if i'm the only dev who goes out of their way to post in these threads, some other devs do still lurk on /vp/ and pop in occasionally
I'll keep my mouth shut about it though.
>Other devs on the team really don't like other projects using our mons or tiles
I thought Pokemon Ocandia was made by one of the Sage devs though?
Not that I know of?
In any case as I said I don't really care/mind that much either way.
nah he's just some degen. check out his twitter timeline
So true. Based Ganker would never stoop to such a level.
oh hes definitely from here, just not on the dev team
>In fact if any of you anons want to help me polish up some of my internal submissions for the poison chef e4 member I could use some input and help with tweaking some linework on that.
I can help you with that after I get home from work.
Awesome, sounds good.
Well, i'm posting this now, and anybody who wants to mess with it feel free to and if anything catches my eye i'll submit it internally.
I'm wanting the apron here to not be as rotated to the side and to at least a bit more centered. If anybody has any ideas to make it or other parts of the design look a bit more poison-y, i'm open to input. I'm thinking maybe edits to the shirt to make it less like a European style chef uniform and more like a Japanese looking one with shorter sleeves to tie into the Fugu/pufferfish connotations, too?
I'll post another slightly different version in a different pose too in a bit; for both feel free to frick around with other aspects of the design too. Please make sure you edit the linework and keep it transparent, tho, not the color crops
TO BE CLEAR, NIETHER THIS NOR WHAT I WILL POST NEXT ARE THE CONFIRMED DESIGN, WE HAVE NOT VOTED A BASE IN YET, THESE ARE JUST THE ONES I LIKE BEST AND WANTED TO GET SOME HELP WITH SINCE I CAN'T INTO LINEWORK, AND WANTED TO GIVE /VP/ A CHANCE TO EXPERIMENT WITH STUFF.
slap a typical pokeball symbol on the apron/sarong thing
>not even having the e4/gym leaders finalized in 10 years
good luck anons
It's not something we priortized because we weren't close to the last few gyms or the e4 yet, now we're getting to the last few gyms for the game itself.
Do you know the legendary Babysitting Cream game? (you are an ultimate newbie if you don't know about it) Yeah, the situation is like that
>we swear!
>we are just porting the game to renpy!
never happening
The hell is babysitting cream game?
newbie get out
make me you moron
newbie get out
moron get out
newbie get out
>not happening
why
moron get out
>why
because frick you
newbie get out
Because there was already a project wide vote on adding the fairy type back in 2013 back when not every design was finalized and before half the game was done when it'd actually be practical to add it, and that vote failed.
Now all the designs are already locked, half the game is built, mapped, programmed, and has been playtested, etc. Even if we were were willing to go back on that vote, and even if we thought adding fairy would actually benefit the game significantly (it wouldn't), and even if we had more then like 4-5 evolution lines that fairy would fit (we don't), it would require going back and changing a shit ton of how stuff is balanced, how pokemon are distributed, what mons npcs and gym leaders have, etc to do it, and we aren't going to do that at this stage for something with so little demand and so little benefit and that already got decided on.
voting on adding an official pokemon type is honestly so fricking moronic, no wonder this game is taking so long, its made by monkeys
They vote on literally everything. The last time I checked their discord, they had spent a week voting on a single fodder trainer along a route. That's why it's been five years and all they have is a single unfinished route.
Nah we don't do voting on every little thing anymore.
The demo goes up to the third gym, depending on how much you rush vs take your time, the demo takes most people like 8-12 hours, I think? Probably more to the higher end of that then the lower.
Also, the feedback survey on the wiki is closed, I think (even if it's not closed we aren't looking at the results anymore), so if you have feedback or input, post it here and I can pass it along.
moron pls go away
I'd call you a moron, but I feel my spite low, so I'd rather spoonfeed you.
An old flash game, which was a short VN about babysitting Cream. Porn was OBVIOUSLY mandatory. Lots of e-girl, lewd, and milf action.
Sound like a great game
thank god the project is cancelled because untalented hacks and thieves.
The game is around 75% done. Wait 2-3 more years.
>meanwhile at 2026, still 75% done. Wait 2-3 more years.
come on
Remember to not spoonfeed the moron and play clover instead.
Thankfully the Sage mons are available in other games too

I played this game recently and even though it's way too difficult I thought it was pretty fun and I enjoyed using some of the mons from Sage in it
I did a mono-flying run and managed to beat it but I wouldn't recommend it for a blind nuzlocke
>way too difficult
how much bullshit does it throw at you
Boss battles have full teams of 6 pokemon and some of them even have legendaries
You can get legendaries too but the only flying type legendary is galarian articuno
I thought the games were pretty good, and the dev is from Ganker which is always a plus. It's a shame that he's one of those "difficulty is good" gays.
Oh hey I know this dev.
https://twitter.com/Pokemon_Ocandia/status/1460424584243683329
I played this one and it was the coolest shit. It had a few Sage mons in it as well as some other custom mons, too.
No guys seriously. What the hell is babysitting cream game? Okay okay I'm a newbie so un-new me
Op here, played the game a bit today, pretty impressed with what im seeing so far, not sure if i huntedly should keep on playing or wait for the whole game to be released.
Good game so far, but can you hurry up, err actually take your time becuse i would rather have it done right then wrong.

>Rissy already fricked the FireGoat
Its over…
When I was still on the dev team they were very much still voting on way too many unnecessary things where everything would go much smoother if they just had people responsible for set departments and doing what they're supposed to do. That's a good while ago tho so I hope things are going smoother now, this project is too cool to get hung up on stuff like that.
I sometimes think about coming back, it was pretty fun and very gratifying to have some of my concept art actually adapted into the game. But I know I'll be there for a bit, but then I'll get too busy with work again and not participate anymore and feel bad about that. I'm still very excited for the project and I hope you guys manage to complete it in due time. It's looking great.
Also how's the music coming along? I was waiting for ages for the golem themes to be adapted into the B/W soundfont but that never ended up happening while I was around sadly
There's much less voting on specific things now and a lot more of specific people taking the lead in given departments and deciding when and how to survey larger things at their descretion, while smaller descisions are just made and agreed on naturally over the course of conversations in chats.
I, personally, think the former aspect of that gives specific people too much power and undermines the democractic nature of the project, but I'm the only one who seems to care and it's certainly faster so it's probably just me.
>But I know I'll be there for a bit, but then I'll get too busy with work again and not participate anymore and feel bad about that
Plenty of us drop in and out all the time, it's really not a problem, as long as like it's not a situation where you're actively working on something we need and drop out without uploading it or something.
>Also how's the music coming along? I was waiting for ages for the golem themes to be adapted into the B/W soundfont but that never ended up happening while I was around sadly
Music has been sort of slow, honestly, keep in mind we still have literal hundreds of tracks from the /vp/ days so there's not often a need for us to make brand new music when we have more then we'll ever be able to use in game already.
But some old music people like nimble have popped back in lately so that's been more active then usual. Frostfuzz's golem themes still aren't in soundfont though. I like them a lot too so hopefully it'll happen once we get to that point.
You still willing to help anon?
