anyone else play this? I was really not expecting how much it would lean into the horror vibe.

I keep telling people to play it for a reason.
It does a good job of being very disturbing and distressing without actually being a horror game. Any time you get jumped, it's entirely because you weren't paying enough attention and not because it was designed to be a scare. And also, the world is just amazing to explore.
How far in are ya, Anon?

Currently in Nekkpond, trying to get the other half of the crossbow, and I keep getting jumped by those homosexual bush spiders, which have been the only enemy thus far that I haven't been able to spot before they're on me. I honestly have some pretty bad arachnophobia which the game clearly has no qualms about preying on. It's not so bad when you can spot most enemies from a distance and deal with them before it becomes an issue. However, the game is good enough that i don't have an issue pushing through it.
How much longer do I have to go?

        >He's only at Nokkpond
You're a little under halfway through.
Depending if you've done the Troll Cave or not yet, you may have a lot more spiders to deal with. But after Nokkpond and that, I don't recall many others.
That said, you do have the most distressing segments still to come.
And also, I hope you've been keeping your eyes peeled for those little red vials.

Actually, wait, no, there's still one more Spider section after those.

The cave spiders weren't too bad, I just picked them off a few at a time. I appreciate how this game lets you approach encounters at your own pace if you're paying attention. I understand there's a cave later on with some big nasty green ones, but honestly, at that point they look so cartoonish that they lose their effect somewhat.
The only major complaint I have about the game is the sound design. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of locational audio, where some enemies will be making noise on the other side of a cliff and they sound like they're right next to you. For a game that relies as much as it does on paying attention to your surroundings, it can be a bit annoying at times. Then again, this is the work of a single person and the game is amazing otherwise. I haven't felt this same sense of journey since Rain World

Enjoy it while you can, Anon.
Cause it's only going to get weirder from here.

I think i have 8 or 9 of those by this point. Are they a hard progression block?

No, but you get a powerful reward if you manage to collect a bunch of them (you don't need all of them). I think I had 40 by the time I got to the reward and it was enough. Dunno the exact number needed though.

I'm playing it right now. I just cleared Sourwood and am looking for the mouthpiece so I can dive. The game is kino tbqh, impressed that one guy made a solid adventure game with lots to it like this. That said the combat can be hectic as you just strafe around crowds of bugs while hoping that your non-hitscan weapons land. I feel like it would have been better if it had a real checkpoint system and more of an emphasis on resource management/survival horror mechanics than turning into Serious Sam lite at points.

That said, his new game looks like it'll have much better combat with it being focused on dismembering enemies in melee rather than chipping away at health bars.

    >pirate it
    >play 75% of it
    >run into a game breaking bug
    >no autosaves due to to the save system
    >bug was apparently fixed in a later version but I can't find a way to transfer the saves
    >buy the game
    >but I don't like it that much so I play it over again

Overall I liked what I played although the combat can get tedious. I really liked the mood of it, the soundtrack and the level design I can definitely recommend it. I will wait like half a year to pass then I will finish it
