Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy

I can't be the only one excited about this, right? especially since I've never played this trilogy

also Ace Attorney general? why the hell not

if you've never played them and remained unspoiled, it'll still be fun, but unfortunately this collection is the weaker games of the series. they're not bad, but they just don't quite reach the same highs as the original trilogy. and it's all professor layton's fault

Why name it after him? He is not the main character of the last 2 games.

I mean, what else would you call a collection of 4-6? "Ace Attorney: The Other Ones Trilogy"? and I mean while he isn't the main character of 5 and 6, the plot does center around him a lot, especially in 6. it's kind of an inversion of how he's the main character of 4, but 4 is phoenix's game, now phoenix is the main character of 6, but it's apollo's game

I'd argue he is the main character of 6 due to getting to be in charge of its last case.

I actually really like SoJ, that 3rd case was a wild ride

SoJ is pretty fun even if it's just as a stand alone.

what about THE GREAT ACE ATTORNEY trilogy?

      >Trilogy
there isn't even anything to cover for a third game, it wrapped up everything almost perfectly in the second game, it doesn't need a sequel. Getting unneeded sequels is why we even have an AJ in the first place.

He has as many cases as Phoenix in 6 and although a major early event is Phoenix getting reunited with Maya, most of the story revolves around Apollo's family and backstory.

Apollo Justice is really bad, but Dual destinies and SoJ are both good, so it's an enjoyable trilogy, definitely better than Great Ace Attorney duology

fixed that for you, you were so perfectly wrong about everything I had to do it.

I've only played Apollo justice out of these games so it's a legit treat seeing them get a true HD treatment.

You're the only one who's excited because you didn't experience how shit they were. AA was among my favourite IP but after playing the 3ds games I wanted it to die.

I give so many passes to this series but the apollo games truly suck and should not be celebrated in the slightest. This fucking release is going to flop so hard.

I’ve already played them on my 3ds but whenever I get the urge to replay these(could be years from now honestly) it would be cool to have them on my tv instead of a 3ds I guess

Not when I've played them already and ended up rather disappointed when comparing them to the original trilogy and the great ace attorney duology. AJ sets the stage for something new and refreshing, but DD doesn't have the balls to commit to "The New Era of The Law" and it just ends up weakening the narrative severely.

The new artwork you posted is nice at least, trucy looks great

      >AJ sets the stage for something new and refreshing, but DD doesn't have the balls to commit
the reason for this becomes a lot more clear when you take a step back and look at the overall release dates of the series. shu finished up ghost trick and then started working on plvaa and the B team finished up aai 2. plvaa ended up taking longer than expected so capcom gave the B team the reins to the mainline series to make sure there was more aa coming out. but now while they're partway through development of aa5, shu finally finishes up with plvaa, and since they don't want to just have him sitting around, they have him move to the spinoffs instead and he starts developing tga. then you have them going back and forth with scheduling, aa5 then tga1, then aa6, then tga2. so the aa5 and 6 we got have no involvement from shu, so we'll never know what he actually planned to do with all the stuff he set up in aa4. I wonder if the reason why aa7 is taking so long is because he has to figure out what he wants to do with all the shit that happened in 5 and 6 now

They already fucked it up, Shu just needs to make a new IP. Maybe when that gets successful he can pull some black magic shit and merge the universes but I'm not interested in more AA after 5 and 6.

Nobody can hope to match up to Layton's power level

I'm not a big layton guy so yeah it was really disappointing. it's like 75% layton, 25% AA. the fact that shu himself wrote it but he made phoenix into a big joke and managed to nail how retarded layton plots are is pretty impressive though. I also just gave up on the puzzles after a while and just looked up the solutions so I could get back to the court parts

            >I also just gave up on the puzzles after a while
The puzzles are unironically the easiest in the Layton series

Will this have the untranslated DLC bonuses for AA5? I had a gay friend in FF14 (the norm) that refused to play it because it was digital only and didn’t have those bonuses.

that's good since 1. DLC sucks and 2. the DLC case of 5 is pretty solid, 6's is whatever but hey it's free this time.

It's gonna be cool to finally have the fift and sixth game physically in English finally, but that's about it for me. Love Spirit of Justice and the previous two are still okay to me me but that's about it for this collection.
