>because humans vs humans causes a ton of political issues for the T'au
How? Humans fight humans all the time. And it isn't like those fights always involve Chaos either.
It's a ton of issues for the Tau. Comparatively speaking they're very orderly. In the Cain books they were trying to cultural exchange their way into control of a human planet but left when there was a minor civil war involving genestealers. Didn't even spread pass the city boundaries but got a few Tau killed including a diplomat. Too chaotic for them. Tau can't deal with headaches.
Kain also allowed a few wounded and infected Tau soldiers to escape, knowing they would start to spread a genestealer infestation among the Tau controlled planets. The book stated that soldiers would have vague memories of barely surviving a fight or battle. With dangerous injuries that correspond to that. But they are infested by genestealers, and the infestation had an inbuilt memory obfuscation. He shot two guard troopers who appeared at one time. At first the other people around him were rather shocked about this uncharacteristically (for him) act. Then he explains what I just wrote down.
Tau are going to have a few big issues regarding Tyranids soon.
There was a Deathwatch novel. Tau experimented on their own people on a desert planet. The planet was mostly taken over by the Tau but a small group of rebellious, desert dwelling humans remained. The local tau military leader had serious misgivings on abusing criminal Tau in such a fashion, but the ethereal overrode it every time. They attempted to create genestealer hybrids to study them and also to see if infested Tau could be weaponized. Like some kind of mind controllable shock troops. I wonder why they felt the need, when the ethereals already do that with Tau society, to a degree. The Deathwatch reluctantly used the rebels fervor by engendering the idea that they would be able to free their planet. In reality they abused their status as the emeporors angels to instil the idea. They used the rebels, knowing no liberation of the planet was planned, and that their rebel cell would mostly be wiped out in their attack. The DT captian had some interesting characterization regarding his strong dislike on using the rebels like that. It is even all of nothing anyways, because a single genestealer survives the nuclear detonation of the laboratory and infestes the planet over a couple of decades. Then the hivemind comes and noms the planet.
>Tau are going to have a few big issues regarding Tyranids soon.
The canon timeline has advanced hundreds of years since that novel took place. If it hasn’t already caused the Tau problems it never will.
They just don’t have any rules.
Maybe your supposed to use kroot and Vespyd rules for whatever you plop on the table as tau auxiliary (human or otherwise) but that makes a lot of people uncomfortable.
Tau don't need Commissars at all, because Tau military doctrine is all about tactically falling back to draw the enemy into bad positions and then shredding them to bits. The 'hold the line to the last man' meatgrinder tactics that the Commissars exist to support would never, ever be used by the Tau.
Its unclear how the Tau would utilize human psykers. I don't think the lore has ever brought it up.
>Its unclear how the Tau would utilize human psykers. I don't think the lore has ever brought it up.
They don't. The Farsight novels show that the Tau underutilize the psychic side of humans even thoigh they know it can wreck their best laid plans(thry mention how the Damocese crusade would swing into Imperial favor the moment psykers were deployed).
I say this cause the Tau have a psyker Inquisitor on their team as an advisor, but she does frick all aside from popping in every now and then to tell someone something cryptic and vague or to kill a Tau with her pocket grav gun if her cover is blown
>Its unclear how the Tau would utilize human psykers. I don't think the lore has ever brought it up.
That's because it might be a problem, and like anything else in the lore that might be a problem to the Tau, it is simply ignored.
I wish tau would capitalize on the massive amount of psykers that have come under their banner
If they have enough to accidentally a proto-chaos god it would do wonders for their forces
>What niche would the Gue'vesa fill?
Jack-of-all-trades. You can send them into any situation and they'll bolster the troops there. Need people to assist in melee with the Kroot? No problem. Need someone to shoot long-range with the Tau? They got you.

How about Commissar that are there to provide a moral bonus, avoid desertions, and ensuring ideological commitment to the Greater Good?
>How about Commissar that are there to provide a moral bonus, avoid desertions, and ensuring ideological commitment to the Greater Good?
If they successfully snatch an IG regiment without needing to kill the commissar or the guardsmen killing the commissar themselves (not fricking likely, let's be real) this is probably what they have him do.
Whatever role they filled in the Imperium.
Soldiers become soldiers. Farmers become farmers. Inquisitors become advisors to the Aun, and psykers are kept at a distance because Tau still don't understand mind science despite having it in their empire for centuries now.
There should be two kinds of Gue'vesa: Insurrectionist and Regular troops. Insurrectionist are guerrillas equipped with a mix of civilian clothers and Imperial Guard Equipment and serve as infiltration units. Regular troops should use Tau weaponry instead with specialized weapons..
Insurrectionists would be cool if they were an Sub-army and was more like GSC with Tau elements instead of Genestealers, being able to take turncoat guard or Fire Warrior/Stealth suits like Brood Brothers.
I like the icons.
I'd hope the icon of gue'vesa would be something like in this, wings being made a symbol of humanity invocative of an Aquila made in the fashion of the tau.
The idea of SM aligned with tau defeat the Chaos wank that's been going on for the last couple decades. It could never ever happen, doing so defeats the idea that chaos is the only thing that can corrupt SM and Primarchs, not weird ideological shit because there's no way they'd go with Ethereals mind-controlling Astartes
Yeah. Gone are the days where renegade Astartes could be a thing. Shame, the idea works. Maybe they could be a Chapter marked for death for angering the Admech or the Inquisition who struck a.shaky alliance with the Tau to survive.
Following a primarch against the emperor is one thing, signing up with little blue people because they have some weird touchy feely thing going on is another.
Is there any proof of Ethereals being able to mind-control non-Tau races?
I think not, even if they were able to, it'd be brutally stupid to have SM subject to it
while you are correct if I wanted to convince humans to join the tau I would absolutely make some fake space marines by putting dudes astartes-esque battlesuits and be like "check it out the astartes are with us"

Honestly I'd just show them a pulse rifle in action and then point out that your basic b***h infantry rifle for the Tau is literally more powerful than a Space Marine bolter.
Checked.
Additionally, that was actually the theme of a Deathwatch campaign I was in once - Marines from an unknown chapter had appeared in a hive city and supposedly gone rogue. In reality, it was the plot of an Inquisitor turned Gue'vasa who tried to prototype the suits and promote their use as propoganda tools.
His plans died with him, as the prototypes, while advanced, were very expensive and the plans taken from him before he could get them Tau side.
That sounds pretty fricking sick.
I was mostly picturing it as primarily a morale booster/destroyer when using guevesa/facing guardsmen.
I like the idea of it going frickup and the imperium stealing back the plans and tech for more advanced armour but not being able to do much with it, between tech-heresy rules and outright incompatibility.
>tonight we feast upon their larvae for the greater good
I love the idea of barbaric war loving monsters fighting for the tau just because they like to murder, and maybe sometimes paying lip service to the tau ideology
For the Tau? No. The Eldar try their hardest to get the approval of the Eldar and give them a lot of free leeway to try and get in their good graces, but thusfar no Eldar has deigned to join the Greater Good. The Tau are hopeful that they can bring them around eventually, though.
They dropped off on their use after they all started getting fused into the walls, turning into cackling madmen as they all started doing a dogeza on the floor to all the ones exploding into abominations from the inside out. All of them unanimously turning right around and snatching the tau themselves up to be ritualistically murdered and sabotaging the ship for the monsters outside to get in.
That is roughly what happened and why all the tau survivors from the first unprotected trip into the warp brutalize humans and massacre them with no survivors.
in over a decade, playing most wednesdays in Auckland NZ's only GW, I've never seen a single person run Gue'vesa
& only like 1/5th of Tau players have run any Kroot,
& only like 1/20th of players run Tau.
I'm moving up to Whakatane in a couple months, and I have a brother in Aukland. I'll have to stop in there some time and actually play a couple games, miss that place.
Yes they are still a thing, no there are not models.
They're mostly planetary defence forces because humans vs humans causes a ton of political issues for the T'au

What's the name of that Deathwatch novel? Sounds like a fun read.
Deathwatch Shadowbreaker
>Tau are going to have a few big issues regarding Tyranids soon.
The canon timeline has advanced hundreds of years since that novel took place. If it hasn’t already caused the Tau problems it never will.
Used to be they didn't trust them to fight against fellow humans without holding back.
>are tau shitposts still a thing or have they dropped off on their usage?
We were doing alright for a week or so but here you are.
They just don’t have any rules.
Maybe your supposed to use kroot and Vespyd rules for whatever you plop on the table as tau auxiliary (human or otherwise) but that makes a lot of people uncomfortable.

That'a what the Water Caste is for.

Herat was by far the worst part of those books.
>Its unclear how the Tau would utilize human psykers. I don't think the lore has ever brought it up.

Frick off Tzeench!

Jack-of-all-trades. You can send them into any situation and they'll bolster the troops there. Need people to assist in melee with the Kroot? No problem. Need someone to shoot long-range with the Tau? They got you.
Pretty much anything.
Humans are to Tau, what Eldar are to Humans. Giving a Cadre a CQC specialist, is like giving a regiment a Banshee.
What if the Ethereals see the Comissars as the human equivalent to them and train them for the greater good?
If the Ethereals believe that humans need a specific officer to keep human forces on path, they will assign a Tau to the role.
Whatever role they filled in the Imperium.
Soldiers become soldiers. Farmers become farmers. Inquisitors become advisors to the Aun, and psykers are kept at a distance because Tau still don't understand mind science despite having it in their empire for centuries now.
Absolutely kino, this is how T'au should be instead of gue'vesa animu girls.
Amazing! I wish GW was half as original as these xeno concepts.
Kino
It would be cool if the Tau was some ragtag alliance of dudes like this rather than a single race.
Wish fulfilment with no sense of restraint or good taste.
Meh
Insurrectionists would be cool if they were an Sub-army and was more like GSC with Tau elements instead of Genestealers, being able to take turncoat guard or Fire Warrior/Stealth suits like Brood Brothers.

The idea of Spessmarines only turning traitor to spooky space hell is stupid. non-chaos traitor marines can be a thing in the right circumstances
Following a primarch against the emperor is one thing, signing up with little blue people because they have some weird touchy feely thing going on is another.
I think not, even if they were able to, it'd be brutally stupid to have SM subject to it
I mean yeah that'd work
while you are correct if I wanted to convince humans to join the tau I would absolutely make some fake space marines by putting dudes astartes-esque battlesuits and be like "check it out the astartes are with us"

Man when the AI of the Tau gives itself to Chaos enmasse, it'll be a hilarious sight to see.
AI isn't a guarantee of chaos anymore.
>huge heaving flaming shit on the setting
Very in keeping with both the tau and GW practices in general
>tonight we feast upon their larvae for the greater good

Christ, I'm so glad I left that braindead franchise
you're still posting about it though
They've pretty much entirely dropped auxiliaries
The Tau deliberately send them on suicide missions and execute them if they don't die in combat now.
sauce me up bro
Give tau auxiliaries
These are rad, I'll have to pilfer them for inspiration.
Tau Space Marine armors are cool, and I wish we could see other designs, like Greater Good Admech, Sisters of Order, etc…
Admech is the only one believable.
