Ah are we going to try to figure this genetically? The intent for Tifa was literally a classic Japanese beauty, so that's what she is as far as I am concerned. If we go down the genetic route none of them are white or asian because of how design takes precedence over logic, but sure if you want to go that way you can say she is half Asian because of her father who she looks nothing like at all.

That argument is a non-sequitor. Even if those things don't exist by name, phenotypes or features are still visible and some series just have analogues for what characters are supposed to be like anyway. Even Oda had answers for the race question even though One Piece doesn't take place in a world with the seven continents.
The fact that you're all arguing about this shit endlessly suggests that those phenotypes are not as categorical as you claim them to be. I feel like this is "what ethnicity are anime characters?" all over again, in which everyone eventually said "fuck it, who cares?".
They're all descended from Spirans, so asian with Yuffie being like super fucking asian with probably no race-mixing from the time the Spirans landed until Yuffie was born. Actually makes sense given that she's got some chieftain heritage they probably intermarried a lot or some shit. Aerith would be the closest equivalent to white since the Cetra were native to Gaia and she's half-Cetra.
