No, I've played on xbox since the original and I've always had my game library there aswell as friends that I gamed with. It's a shame that it's all tumbeling down now, but that doesn't change anything about the past 20 years.

I'm not some zealot obsessed with a brand, it's just always been a choice of convenience. I'll just as easily play on my Playstation/switch/gaming pc

I never really built any expensive library on Xbox, mostly just deep sales of older games I never got around to playing back when they first released. But other than that I also saved hundreds of $ over the last 3 years with the constant $1 gamepass trials I was getting, so for that alone it was totally worth it for me.

I hated the Xbox, hated its stupid Atari Jaguar-like controller, and even disliked HALO from the start. Xbox was never anything more than a crippled PC, and it did massive harm to the PC games industry just so Microsoft could attempt to exert even more direct control over the individual gamer. The total inferiority of the console approach could be seen in the way that multiplayer games had to cordon off a special zone so that the console weaklings could play by themselves without getting repeatedly obliterated by their technological superiors.

    >>JC Denton spoke for all of us when he said: “So many games were crippled in order to run on consoles or appeal to the console multiplayer market. We PC Master Racers will gladly view the ruin of Xbox with a smile on our beautiful Aryan faces.”

Fittingly, Deus Ex's sequel is an infamous example of a game crippled to run on a console. So much lesser than the original...

huh? Deus Ex could easily have run on consoles at the time, it wasn't exactly an ambituous title in terms of graphics and it already had very small, self-contained levels, perfect for consoles.

          >Deus Ex
          >had very small, self-contained levels
The original was a PC game through and through, it had very large and open maps (which were totally chopped up on the PS2 port). The sequel was made for Xbox first, it was much prettier in some ways but it had TINY maps in comparison.

      >Man, I HATE the console manufacturer that always releases games day 1 on PC and puts a lot of effort into their PC ports.
      >but I'm totally glad that the winner of the console war is the console manufacturer that still relies heavily on forced exclusivity and has a history of releasing half-assed PC ports 2 years after the initial game release
      >GO PC GAMING WOOOOO!

either console losing is PC winning. Even low end gaming laptops are stronger than either console, and are nearing the same price while also having other uses/much wider library/more space.

PC Gaming is crippled because of the jump to servicing low-power PCs like the Xbox, see

Fittingly, Deus Ex's sequel is an infamous example of a game crippled to run on a console. So much lesser than the original...

Note the only excuse devs have for releasing increasingly bloated ports that run worse is always "get a better PC" or "buy a console" instead of fixing the fricking thing they're supposed to sell as a product

They'll massage it saying it's only "a few" games coming to PS5. They'll start only announcing like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves and xbots will think it's not that bad. Then gradually is gonna escalate and eventually they will become third party.

I just don't understand how that makes any sense financially. Microsoft has a storefront and the vast majority of sales come from the Xbox ecosystem. How exactly can it be profitable to kill off your own store just to sell a couple million copies of some exclusives that aren't even that popular to begin with? I mean, yeah they were in 3rd place, but they still sold something like 20+ million Series consoles and out of the 60 million Xbones, surely at least another 10 million were still in use as well. Are they seriously expecting that the people who will buy Hi-Fi Rush on Playstation are going to offset the loss of people that used to buy COD and FIFA on Xbox?

the consoles lose money. People don't understand this, the time + salaries + research + hardware involved means consoles LOSE money, you recoup the money through selling games, but no one buys xbox games. The gamepass is all they have, but they can just make that a PC/PS feature like steam etc and save the expenses of having to print out more failed consoles.
They're in a losing position either way, but selling off their exclusives and becoming a software dev company with gamepass just makes far more money than their current model.

Xbox was never meant to get this far. Microsoft is a software company and Xbox is just catching up with the rest of Microsoft and going full blown software distribution like they've always have.
