Are video games the cheapest hobby on the planet?

Basically you can but gt1030 for $30 and i3 12100 for $70 and you got a system that can play:
1. All old games prior to 2015
2. All emulators
3. All old and new indie games
4. 95% of multiplayer games

Like why the frick would anyone want to upgrade? There is not point.

12100f is more than enough for PCSX2 but GT 1030 will struggle at higher resolutions

            >i got something like 20-40 fps at launch. anyway more than playable

Horseshit. I used to say that when I was a consolegay. I love Bloodborne, have completed it multiple times and think it's great but going back to it after a 3060ti/r7 3700x is painful. Even if I didnt have that, and only got 60fps, going to anything under is horseshit. I love my Steam Deck too but if I'm not getting 60 fps at least I'm playing it on my desktop. 40fps is absolutely unplayable and anyone saying otherwise is in fricking denial

Lol Black person 6gb wasn't even common in 2014. I literally played Shadow of Mordor in 2014 with my 760 2GB and it ran fine.

No good games have been released in over a decade. For some reason I still built a new pc with a 4080S. I guess I can finally play my favorite games at 1000 fps

    >gt1030 so small
Fricking neat. Are there any later cards that come with such compactness w/ no pcie power connectors? Bonus points for passive cooling.

my 1650 has no pcie connections, but its also fairly shit

ARC A310/A380 is the best cheap low profile card you can buy. RX 550 for a cheaper build.

I don't know if it's compact enough for you but there's the recently released "3050 6gb" which is a scam of a name (it's 3040 really) but it's the most powerful GPU for gaming without a pcie power connector (ignoring stuff like A2000 that is both overpriced and potentially problematic driver-wise for gaming) and there's low-profile versions.

why not ditch both and just get ryzen 5 4600G. the iGPU apparently outperforms gt1030

Yeah, the bang for the buck you get is insane. These new games are shit, my pc can play them... but why? Only israelites use terms like poorgay.

Also if you're an amerifat you can buy old computers at random flea markets and pay <$100 for an office PC with an i7, then you slap a shitty cheap GPU on it and you're all set.

But that's wrong lol the way to access unlimited TV content is by pirating all of it with a PC.

You forgot about the cost of the motherboard, PSU, SSD, case, fans and cooling which will make it a worse deal than a Series S at $199 or PS5 digital at $350

Who the frick is buying a brand new case, fans and an aftermarket cooler for an i3 machine homie, you grab a random husk of an ancient used Optiplex and just chuck everything inside.

A GT 960 4GB is only $5 more on facebook marketplace, why the frick would you buy a GT 1030.

potentially for compatibility reasons (small size + no extra power cable) if you're just sticking it into a shitty office pc. then again i dont think you can get an office pc for a decent enough price that has a motherboard compatible with i3 12100, for it to be worth it. but i guess uhh if your dad already had a newer office pc and you're trying to game on that or something...
