This, I got Tales of Arise looking for more refreshing anime deliciousness like the Trails of Cold Steel series.
What I got was barely a "JRPG" and more of a compromised, boring game that tries to be a grim Western rpg like Skyrim and ends up as a floaty, boring, play-it-safe unplayable mess
>anime deliciousness like the Trails of Cold Steel series
Cold Steel is trash so your opinion is shit and nobody should take it seriously Arise sucks though
Most of those games had better entries in the 90s or 00s.
Abyss, Symphonia, Destiny R DC
Xenogears, Xenosaga Episode III
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn
Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Eternal Punishment.
>P5 and XBC3 are the best of their respective series
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Am I missing something? Am I on bizzaro Ganker?
No he isn't. He and you are just contrarian homosexuals. The devs even said they won't do a remaster of saga because it was so shit it wouldn't sell. And gears....lol lmao
>The devs even said they won't do a remaster of saga because it was so shit it wouldn't sell
Sauce on Monolith saying this? Namco said they won't do it because it means a lot of work removing all the ads for games of the time out and it's a massive project for an audience they don't want (Bandai Namco is looking to move away from Nintendo).
>Bandai Namco original IP game projects general manager Katsuhiro Harada
Oh, so Monolith never said it was shit

I would add that it was "rejected" years ago, even before XC2 release, when it made sense.
The I.P grew a lot since then, smash etc.
Xenosaga WILL be remastered in the future for sure (I WON'T buy it).

>An actual decent game, even if it's pandering to westoids with a darker tone. >Nintendo's newest normalgay jrpg. >Nintendo's newest normalgay jrpg. >Fatlus's newest normalgay jrpg.
JRPGs are good but three of these are not good examples.
Twitter gay is right though. I've been playing games since 1990, and choice in JRPGs has never been better.
The Ganker seething reeks of low IQ zoomers who spout 'new thing bad' in a desperate bid to mask the fact that they have no souls nor opinions of their own.
Nowhere near the SNES/PS1 golden era where Squaresoft was on a roll, but I'd say we're close to the PS2 era of JRPGs which is a big step up from the disaster of the PS3/PS4 eras.
>Tales of Arise
Haven't played it but from what I know it got the budget and visual busted the series desperately needed but that actual story and characters are weak. >Xenoblade 3
Absolutely the best, and it makes Ganker contrarians and morons seethe because it doesn't choo choo train spoon feed them all with a 40 minute exposition dump so they can't pretend that they've played the game when they actually haven't. >Fire Emblem Engage
Controversial hair color aside, the quality of the maps, visuals, colors and animations are such a ridiculously massive improvement over three houses and it doesn't have a route split either so I have a hard time believing it won't be good. >Persona 5
Massive improvement in visuals, budget and the battle system however the story is by far the worst in the entire series (including 1 and both 2s) and the characters just put their all into making sure they unlikeable as humanly possible. Confidants (Social links) are easily the weakest out of the nu Persona games too.
There's definitely been a lot more RPG releases in the past few years, not as much as in the 90s though, and there's still a lot of misses. Feel that devs still need to figure out how modern games need to feel while still maintaining quality gameplay, story and world/dungeon design.
A classic example of a frick up is the recent Soul Hackers 2, completely fails to understand what anyone wanted, gameplay that doesn't evolve or improve on anything, and utterly horrendous dungeon design, resulting into the massive flop that it was.
It's wild how JRPGs have been so fricking samey and boring for years that just adding a modicum of gameplay and stylistic variety suddenly makes it the "golden age of jrpgs". A bit sad they're still years behind but hey progress is progress.
>year+ old uber low budget tales
>auto-battler
>srpg heavily reliant on muh nostalegia
>port of ps3 game
No. We are not in a golden era for jrpgs.
>we're in the golden era
>worst tales
>worst xeno
>worst FE
>worst Persona
Ok
Not yet.
sadly not
the golden age of jrpgs was 1992-2000
Unironically yes. The last 5 years have been better for JRPGs than the 90s. Vanilla P5 is much better than Royal and Arise is super garbage though
>the last 5 years we’re better than a whole decade of rpgs even though 1/3 of the big releases were shit
Kys you mongrel piece of shit
Better ratio than 92-99
One of those games is not even out yet. What that post is telling me is that Jrpgs homosexuals have low standards.
if Tales of Arise's cookie-cutter, bland, shitty cast is the best JRPGs have to offer nowadays then they should just stay dead
and persona 5 is 6 years old

Cold steel is shit, though. Stop self inserting its embarrassing.
No, we're in golden era of political correctness.
The JRPG Golden Era was the DS & PSP.

Abyss, Symphonia, Destiny R DC
Xenogears, Xenosaga Episode III
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn

Not in the Golden age at all.
Fire Emblem and Tales yes.
P5 and XBC3 are the best of their respective series (Not counting Megaten in general)
>nu persona high school dating shit
>the best of anything
Nope.
>censored SJW Blade
>the best of anything
Nope.

What’s your favourite Xeno game dumbass? Let us laugh at you.

The SNES to PS2 era was the Golden era not for just JRPGs but gaming.
no...we got flung from the golden age of jrpgs right back to the dark ages after 2005, we're still there
>golden
lol
lmao even
At BEST we're in the silver age, arguably even the Bronze age. Graphics are getting better but everything else is so arguable
>98
He would think that, because it actually happened before he was born/while he was an infant.
Wow, 3 shit games and a game that may be good but it's not out yet so we don't know. I'll stick to old JRPGs.
aren't like three of those games from 2016/2017
the levels of nu gamerness in that tweet.... i can't.... there's no......
AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Yes but not because of those.
>golden era of JRPG
The PS1 came out decades ago
I don't know what counts as a JRPG. Does Nier Automata count? Does Elden Ring count? Does it have to be anime aesthetic?
it's literally just an rpg game that's been made by the japanese, that's it, that's all it is
you need an element of menu based decisions in battle
nier automata and souls are action rpgs
nope, it's a japanese rpg
nier is an action rpg but it's also a jrpg because it's made by the japanese
JRPGs are even more same same than yearly CoD releases. The entire genre needs a major shake up.
Good luck to surpass SNES-PS1 double victory. I also include PS2 on the bunch, but most people would disagree. Things went downhill from 7th gen, imo.
Nowhere near the SNES/PS1 golden era where Squaresoft was on a roll, but I'd say we're close to the PS2 era of JRPGs which is a big step up from the disaster of the PS3/PS4 eras.
Golden age was whenever FFX came out and the Dark age is when FFXIII came out despite them being the same corridor simulator
>Y'all
Good i hate this fricking Black person speech
JRPG are SHIT for moronic WEEB
DIE
Only one good game is even in that screenshot
I'm prob a minority but Tales games all suck and Xeno games feel like a single player MMORPG..
The best RPG that I can think of in the last few years was a remake of a 1994 game made during the actual golden age of JRPGs.
But we've been in the Golden Era.
remove ds2
DS2 was fine, you just got that opinion from Youtube.
Cope.

I suppose so now that Cold Shit is finally over
no one cares about that meme series anymore.
