Rows matter in FFV because of the job system allowing you to mix shit, but otherwise yeah.
I wouldn't say it's the best by any stretch. Each entry in the series has its pros and cons with their respective casts. While some can certainly be better than others FF8 does have its faults. Especially with the narrative concerning Squall's and Rinoa's relationship. The rest of the cast fall to the wayside, especially Quistis and Irvine. Zell and particularly Selphie seem stagnant from what I remember about them.

Square-Enix really shot themselves in the foot when it comes to FF7 Remake. I get that they wanted to deliver a new story and that it would be a reimagining on a meta level. But they could have simply stuck to the original story while also expanding on the narrative where it wasn't able to in the original game. But unfortunately that all came about in filler and unnecessary new characters that don't amount to much in my eyes. That and with them making it episodic was purely a means to milk the potential success from it because FF7 is the most well known and regarded to the masses in the franchise.

I can't speak for the rest of the Anons here, but the one big issue I had was the same thing I had with Chrono Cross. The battles are just really sluggish. It's like if the rest of the game is at 60fps and the battles are at 30-45fps. It's only a nitpick since I really did enjoy FF9, but that's the main one that stood out to me.
It's just how slow combat is, it might be a worse probably when you play with the battle speed high, but seeing a characters atb fill by the time the next action actually happens sucks. Speed feels absolutely valueless, I don't like 6, but you feel the speed stat when it's high. The gear abilities can also be quite tedious, doesn't really both me but my mate absolutely hates it.
4 is fine except for the constant death takouts.
5 is too simple

I wouldn't want her to be put in the spotlight but at least have her make some sort of sacrifice. Sure it wouldn't make what she did any better especially in Freya's eyes (rightfully so). But I think it would be an ever so slight improvement. Maybe kill two birds with one stone and replace Amarant with her as the final party member, I don't know.

I think the only flaw with the sniper plan was actually needing her locked in between the gates. Bringing the gates down would alert her and make her ready to cast a protect spell. They would have a greater chance of success if they shot the sniper while the cart was on the move.

I wouldn't say it's the best by any stretch. Each entry in the series has its pros and cons with their respective casts. While some can certainly be better than others FF8 does have its faults. Especially with the narrative concerning Squall's and Rinoa's relationship. The rest of the cast fall to the wayside, especially Quistis and Irvine. Zell and particularly Selphie seem stagnant from what I remember about them.
It's one of the worst, and I say this as someone who has FF8 as my favorite game in the series

Don't get me wrong, Beatrix and Alexandria got off completely scot free. But it wasn't only FF9 that had that fault in its writing. In FF8 Seifer pretty much gets away with every action he made from the later half of disc 1 onwards. Sure he's no longer with Balamb Garden but that's it.

Square-Enix really shot themselves in the foot when it comes to FF7 Remake. I get that they wanted to deliver a new story and that it would be a reimagining on a meta level. But they could have simply stuck to the original story while also expanding on the narrative where it wasn't able to in the original game. But unfortunately that all came about in filler and unnecessary new characters that don't amount to much in my eyes. That and with them making it episodic was purely a means to milk the potential success from it because FF7 is the most well known and regarded to the masses in the franchise.

Absolutely perfect cast. All main characters have a distinct personality, they're all very likable, they all fit the tone of the game perfectly and they have a wonderful dynamic between them. Mixed bag. Some are outstanding, some are barely there, and as soon as you notice the out of party dialogue is often super duper generic to account for any comination a lot of the magic is lost. I can't speak for the rest of the Anons here, but the one big issue I had was the same thing I had with Chrono Cross. The battles are just really sluggish. It's like if the rest of the game is at 60fps and the battles are at 30-45fps. It's only a nitpick since I really did enjoy FF9, but that's the main one that stood out to me.
It's just how slow combat is, it might be a worse probably when you play with the battle speed high, but seeing a characters atb fill by the time the next action actually happens sucks. Speed feels absolutely valueless, I don't like 6, but you feel the speed stat when it's high. The gear abilities can also be quite tedious, doesn't really both me but my mate absolutely hates it.
4 is fine except for the constant death takouts.
5 is too simple
6 is fine. Sabin is fine. Gau is fine. if you hate gau you're a homosexual.

Zidane did simp for Garnet and was a hopeless romantic and womanizer. But never was he towards Beatrix from what I remember. True she was let off far too easy. I doubt it would have been any better but I think she should have joined the party proper. I know that sounds ridiculous but at least you could have seen her take a more active role in righting her wrongs or show some semblance of remorse. I wouldn't want her to be put in the spotlight but at least have her make some sort of sacrifice. Sure it wouldn't make what she did any better especially in Freya's eyes (rightfully so). But I think it would be an ever so slight improvement. Maybe kill two birds with one stone and replace Amarant with her as the final party member, I don't know.

I think the only flaw with the sniper plan was actually needing her locked in between the gates. Bringing the gates down would alert her and make her ready to cast a protect spell. They would have a greater chance of success if they shot the sniper while the cart was on the move.
watch the video again. she was really caught off guard the plan would have worked if Irvine didn't hesitate. Guy screws up frequently.. which us alright because he's not a child soldier like the rest of the crew (except Rinoa).

If he took the shot when the gates were already down, it would play out exactly as it did.
