how is that WHITE consumerism however? These shoe deals are marketed towards blacks specifically. Whites do buy them but they are not the targeted demographic. Thus they are considered culturally emblematic. It would be like having a new Kamala Khan Spider-Woman character and having them wear a burqa

White heroes that have new suits and gadgets. Their logo, their quotes and their image. Everything about them gets commercialized. Of course that also works with black heroes, that's why Miles exists to pander and sell to a black audience. Capitalism inherintely alienates the people by commercializing everything. It's not just capeshit.

Except the character is white and he gets sold as the white Spider-Man especially nowadays. The reason black and asians enjoyed him because the haven't had any superheroes. The biggest one they got was Black Panther and they want people to look like them.

That has nothing to do with what I asked, which is what hero panders specifically to whites. The character is white, that's all. He's sold as the white Spider-Man today insofar as he has white skin. Nothing about him is specifically made for white people. Miles was purpose built to pander to blacks, he is not a character who just happens to be black but a black man heavily marketed towards black consumerism (rap music, sneakers, hoodies, black slang)

Prove it. The characters were made for people who are white, originally, but that is because most people were white at the time. What about Peter panders SPECIFICALLY to white people? You're just talking in circles. Are you saying only Miles' SKIN COLOR makes him appealing to blacks? When you responded to the rest of my post you truncated the final portion which is telling to me. Miles is marketed wearing hoodies, sneakers, with rap music, and black lingo. That is black culturally. You are the one that is saying that by virtue of someone's skin being black they are marketed specifically to blacks, that is your argument for why a white Peter Parket is marketed specifically for whites. It's a bizarre argument

I mean prove it. Prove that these things are marketed to whites specifically. I didn't debunk anything because there's nothing to debunk. I'm asking you to prove that because Peter has white skin he's marketed specifically to white people. All you've said is that white heroes are marketed to white people because white people made them and white people consumed them. A white person made Spawn and white people consumed those comics. Was Spawn made for black people?

You're saying that, you're not proving it. Peter is not marketed to white people based on his skin color. He was made as a white man, nothing about him was distinctly white other than his skin. Miles is distinctly black in that he panders to stereotypical black culture, with rap, hoodies, and sneakers. Do you see Spider-Man slinging around New York wearing a polo shirt and a golf bag? No, because that's as retarded as OP's image

                >I already have proven it and given you examples. Miles exists and he proves it well. You are just denying the facts because your brain doesn't work so well.

You haven't proven anything, you've just repeated yourself that because a character is black they are marketed to black people. Spawn is black, he was made by a white man and primarily consumed by white people. Was Spawn made for black people? The answer is no, reach deep inside and try and think of why that is the case

                >H-His skin color doesn't count

You can pretend all you want that skin color doesn't matter to become an ad but Miles exists and shows you they market them through skin color. Peter is marketed to white people. White people dominated the market back then since black people weren't seen as people. Would black people hate Peter originally being black? Would it not matter to sales if he was black? If so, why do you think that?
                >You haven't proven anything,
I gave you examples, I told you how these examples worked therefore I've proven it to you. Spawn is a black character made by a white man and consumed by primarily white men. Was Spawn marketed to blacks? Why is Peter marketed to white people by virtue of his skin color but Spawn is not? I am being entirely upfront and taking you at your word but you really do not have an argument, you are just frustrated that I'm not accepting your wildly inaccurate statements.

Imagine living in a fantasy land where skin color doesn't matter to how a character gets sold. Anon is right. You're retarded.

I did not say that skin color doesn't matter to how a character gets sold, I said that a character being a certain color does not necessarily mean they are marketed specifically to that character. Peter is white, that does not mean he is marketed specifically to white people. Certainly some characters are made a certain color to market them to a specific people, but not always. That is my point.

                >Spawn is a black character made by a white man and consumed by primarily white men
The comic industrie is a primarely white men field and that's because in the past they didn't market themselves to black people and other people of color you retard. It's always been a majority white people industry. The market just won't switch from majority white to majority black especially since it's been dying as well. Miles was created by a israelite, he still is an black Spider-Man ad for black people, how is that so hard to understand for your little brain. Spawn is marketed towards black people as well. Pretending he is not just because some racial group latched on to him as well makes you a double retard
                >I am being entirely upfront and taking you at your word
Yeah yeah being upfront by using whataboutism with real life people when we're talking about capeshit instead of debunking the argument with your own facts.
Welp. Since you couldn't respond to the questions I asked you I accept your concession then. Peter was marketed towards whites. Miles was marketed towards blacks. Those are undeniable facts historically proven you couldn't debunk that. Congrats.

So you agree then that just because Spawn is a black character, he is indeed NOT targeting the black community. Not when he was made, and not now. So you do in fact acknowledge that a person's skin color does NOT in itself dictate who they are marketed to. Spawn was marketed towards white people despite being a black man because he was an interesting character. Miles was built from the ground up to target blacks, but it is not (just) because he has black skin. Nothing about Peter is culturally white other than his skin. Much about Miles is culturally black other than his skin. If Black Panther were white but absolutely everything else including imagery and culture were left the same that it would appeal to most whites?

                >That is my point.
It wasn't. I watched your argument but nice try.

I one hundred percent agree, that's more or less what I'm saying. Spawn was never made to appeal specifically to blacks, he's just a solid character who is also a black man. Miles was built from the ground up "for blacks" to pander to them. It's the same thing as Kamala Khan. She is a character purpose-built to pander to Muslims. Or at least a white liberal's idea of Muslims. It's entirely possible to have characters that are extremely well-made without being overt like this. No one would have an issue with Miles if his genesis wasn't constructed around soulless racebaiting.

media has taught me that black people:
    play basketball
    like to rap
    spray paint
    wear sneakers
    like chicken
can be a scientist if they want to, but prefer to rap instead
    dont need no man
    are really amazing

Miles was literally, unironically 100% created to be a black Spider-Man. That was his purpose, he wasn't made to be a new character with an interesting spin. He was made to satisfy a quota. Anything interesting that has come out of him as a character has been incidental to his creation.

I haven't read the comics, but do in-comic characters actually know his race, or is "black" referring to his costume?

nobody says black when referring to a person, autist.

Race, that page was written by his creator, who also wrote this page. You'll never guess his early life.

Also, one of his (very few) stories is being chased for a future crime (Minority Report) by a Karen.

They know his race. They make sure everyone knows. Anyone can wear the mask but it's more important that black people wear it

nah because people try to convince you it's a race issue when the reality is it's a class issue
miles is priviledged and goes to private school, peter comes from a lower working class single woman run household. He can relate with the typical urban black experience way better than miles can

Okay, I assumed it was race, although to be honest "black" referring to his costume makes way more sense to me since anyone wearing a full-body costume would probably be more known for his costume than the skin underneath.

But it seems like this is an unintentional microcosm of lazy diversity. Don't want to be "black Spider-man"? Then be your own thing instead of Spider-man. Nobody IRL or in comics calls Robin "little Batman". Why? Because he's Robin, not Batman. He should've called himself Dark Web. That'd be funny.

In 5-10 years, they'll fully retire Peter and replace him with Miles in all spiderman media. They tried doing this a couple years back in the comics but it failed and they had to resurrect Peter. This current push will likely be successful though, mostly thanks to the spiderverse movies. Peter will get no closure to his story either since he has to be kept in a metaphoric cryotube to be brought back in case the general public doesn't latch onto Miles again. Also his hair is fucking awful in this game, I know blacks are only allowed to have like 4 hairstyles, but at least pick one that doesn't make the man look like a fucking toilet brush.

    >New Miles suit in 2 looks great, making the read of the chest V continue down the arms was a good choice
    >Replace it with whatever the fuck this is
Really, it's a metaphor for this whole game. It's a shit ton of greatness constantly broken up by what a white liberal thinks people want in a Spidey game and it's a fucking slap in the face.

Spider Man 1 almost feels like the video game equivalent of bait at this point. Sure there was the light sprinkles of shit but for the most part it was an effective story that was true to what you'd come to want and expect from decades of Spider Man.
And then Miles Morales was an immediate heel turn but that's expected for a game totally focused on him. But then somehow his sections of the game in this one are even worse with it than his own game? How the fuck

It's completely defeating the purpose of one of Spider Man's original core concepts, across ALL iterations. Anyone man (or woman depending on the issue) could be under the mask.
To that effect, all of the girl Spidey suits that have their hair, or god forbid EYES, outside of the mask are retarded too.

The most retarded thing is both of them just being called Spider-Man. It makes sense in a universe where Miles is the only Spider-Man or takes up the mantle, but having two dudes running around constantly calling each other by the same name and being referred to by the same name is fucking retarded. No one would do that.

I guess I'm not sure how much the whole "woke" shit affected sales. I mean it still sold well, right? Not as well as the first, but still decent. Is that because of the content in the game, or because it's 70 bucks for an expensive console that's not that widely owned?

The latter has been hitting every PS5 game in some way, who knows how much of the former had an effect when it was only slightly present in the marketing and the 1st game built up so much good will.

They literally doubled down on the MJ missions to spite fans. The director even admitted that she's so OP she breaks the setting but he doesn't care.
