>banned in comp because heavy le too fast and viable Posted on May 14, 2023 by Anonymous >banned in comp because heavy le too fast and viable
>take more damage when you eat it
Was melee heavy really that overpowered?
No, not even remotely. It was pure compgayry.
Comp had nothing to do with steak's damage vulnerability effect but I guess you need some way to advertise your newgayry.
No one else was complaining but I guess you needed to fill your newfag quota. We all have needs. Wouldn't happen to know were I could find any decent erp servers? Woulda ya mister oldgay?
Heavy melee was always crap unless you caught enemy players in a really closed space where they couldn't run away from you. Something like the vent in turbine, otherwise you'll die. If you're taking on multiple players, the only decent gloves are the Killing gloves because of guaranteed crits once you get someone. Warrior's spirit were decent but they got nerfed a few years ago. And the Holiday punch if you want to gamble, but they're only good to stop an uber.
why do they fear heavy anyways?
>inb4 i-its not f-fear!!
it is, compfags are babies
Soldiertards don't want to be punished for having the best mobility in the game
Heavy is relatively strong in 6s against all classes but demo.
Heavy puts out a fuck ton of damage and can tank just as much. Heavy is typically on brought on last point holds because of his low speed and "set up" time compared to Soldier, Scout, Medic and Demoman.
Which is why GRU/Disciplinary Action/etc are banned in 6s because Heavy is a meat tank that can hitscan and chip your team from across the map while his remaining teammates and bomb and wipe your team. He'd be incredibly powerful for most games if his slow speed wasn't his #1 (built-in) flaw.
It baffles the fuck out of me that Ganker doesn't get that bans don't exist to "keep x class bad", they exist to maintain the ecosystem people who play 6s want.
>It baffles the fuck out of me that Ganker doesn't get that bans don't exist to "keep x class bad", they exist to maintain the ecosystem people who play 6s want.
It baffles me that you don't get that the goal of maintaining the 6v6 ecosystem is exactly the same as keeping every other class bad in 6v6. Reminder that pre-split equalizer was fine in comp matches with absolutly no one having an issue with it, and a variety of compfags at the time actually complained about the need for the item to be nerfed by Valve.
pre-split equalizer was absolutely disgusting
It's literally not fear, he's a walking sponge with the speed of an autistic snail. His team is more likely to cap third point before he even makes it to the first one. He's pure dead weight for his team and that's why nobody runs him in comp.
That's fundamentally a problem with "comp" rather than Heavy. The original gru fixed his only weakness, which would stall the games because he was too strong a defender to be able to roll out that fast, which was why it was banned. So a non-nerfed gru heavy did scare the comp into banning him. Sixes in general fucking sucks and only exists as a compromise because highlander is too hard to get games for so they need a comp that's easy to get into but at the same time kills half the classes so what's the fucking point
>That's fundamentally a problem with "comp" rather than Heavy
Heavy is fundamentally a problem in the actual game, not just comp. He has no role to fill because he's too fucking slow. Comp has never ever banned Heavy, that's just fucking retarded. They don't use him because he's dead weight or as you've said, he just turns matches into stalemates.
He has no role in TF2 competitive or casual, if he did then you gays wouldn't be playing the victim constantly asking for a buff.
Heavy is slow (as intended) but that only makes him unviable for a comp that wasn't designed for. He protects the medic, dominates every other class in mid to close range and is the strongest defensive class in the game because engineer by your standards is way worse than heavy in every way. When he is protected, he's the strongest class in the game which is why highlander medics stay glued to him. 6v6 is not how the game was designed for and judging classes based on that shit is retarded
It makes him unviable in any setting. He can't protect the medic, a scout is going to run circles around him and a soldier is just going to bomb him. 80% of what the game currently is isn't what it was designed for, that's why I can't take any criticism of TF2's competitive scene from here because it's ultimately just another way to play the game out of the million other ways people already play it. The only difference being that you'll get called a chud for it here for whatever reason when there's more trannies in casual than there ever would be in the comp scene. Defensive classes don't work outside of Engineer and Demo because Engineer was reworked to move him buildings and Demo has always been optimal for trapping. Heavy is just a slightly mobile sentry that's really loud and even then Engineer isn't even used in comp because he just suffers from an issue similar to Heavy where his role is to stay and hold down one spot.
It's not just comp, even in standard 12v12 which is what the game absolutely was designed for, heavy plays a role. Meds always gravitate towards heavy because uber heavy is the strongest a class can be. In mid to close range (Range every competent heavy will go for) heavy will win most encounters with soldier because heavy eats multiple rockets and the minigun just needs to stay on soldier for 5 seconds without anyway to subdue the damage. Heavy also rapes pryo in every range and there's a skill check but once a heavy learns to track, scouts will die in 2 seconds of minigun fire. 6v6 is the exception not the rule for these classes.
The fuck is your hard on for the southern hospitality. It's dogshit. Why have a bleed effect that lasts five seconds in the vain hope that maybe someone can kill the spy for you than just killing the fucking spy with the wrench. I've played much more casual than comp and nobody uses that weapon it's terrible.
>The fuck is your hard on for the southern hospitality...
The point is compfags don't know the game they're playing. Replace Southern Hospitality with any slightly obscure weapon on a class they don't regularly use. Or even on one they use, I've seen Soldierfags who don't know what the Liberty Launcher does.
Heavy absolutely does not play any role in 12v12. Literally any other power class plays his role better and as we've elaborated on before, Heavy isn't going to protect that medic. If anything he's going to put him in even more danger. Meds gravitate towards Heavies because the skill ceiling of your average pub is like an adult in a child's playhouse. All you need is that one Soldier who knows what he's doing to come in and just wreck the whole server and have you come here bitching about it. Nobody is going to engage Heavy on his terms because Heavy doesn't have the tools to force them to engage him on his terms. He can't limit options, he's too slow and he has basically a primary with a start up time and whatever melee you're rocking. Heavy won't rape any Pyro that isn't just running blindly at him. A decent Pyro will just wait for a flame, puff him then fill his fat ass with two shotgun shots at point blank before the Heavy can even rev his gun up. Heavy is so terrible that he doesn't even serve as a "skill check", he's a cognitive check.
flank not flame* fuck
Just because you suck dick as heavy doesn't mean he's a bad class. Heavy is best suited for ambushing, he dominates in tight quarters which tf2 maps have plenty of. There's literally nothing a pyro can do against a heavy if they meet face to face in any rang, he's a direct counter. In 12v12 his slow rollout does not matter nearly as much because there is constant fighting so positions will always get maintained in the chaos with or without a single heavy present. He also bodies power classes in close to mid-range, he just does I don't know what to tell you. And he's the best suited to protect the medic because he literally has the biggest hitbox to eat the damage and to shield the medic wtf else do you think protecting the medic is? And if a med is on a heavy they have to enter close range to take the med out unless they are a pick class, in which the heavy will win because he bodies power classes. This strategies' have been tried and tested and it's why highlander games have the heavy in the exact roles I'm saying because it works in high level play, just because you don't see heavy in uncletopia doesn't mean he's a bad class it means that people like you are too retarded to understand that in a class team-based shooter, the classes have strengths and weaknesses.
He is a legitimately a bad fucking class, you can't stay here for the past 8 years, bitch and moan that Heavy is neglected and pretend otherwise. Heavy gets even more outclassed on those tight quarters maps because Demos and Soldiers are just going to shut him down with spam at any choke point, the only difference being that you don't need a decent player to accomplish that. If a Pyro meets a Heavy face to face at any range I'll tell you what any decent Pyro is going to do, he's going to pull out his powerjack and back off until he's in a more favorable position because Heavy has absolutely nothing that can force him to stay there and fucking fight him. You don't seem to understand that probably because you just flow with whatever chaotic nonsense is going in within the pub at that moment, it doesn't matter if you're doing good or not, you're just there to be there and that's fine honestly but most people don't play that way. They play to get kills because that's what's fun, nobody likes respawning every 3 minutes. No power class is going to stay and fight him if he's in close because unlike Heavy, they have mobility to pick and choose their fights which Heavy again can't fucking stop.
This is basic fundamental shit in any game and it baffles me how anyone arguing for Heavy completely lacks it.
You're just dogshit at the game if you can't see why the class with 300 hp and the minigun wins in close quaters. The power classes can't run away in closequaters because a half decent heavy pre-revs his minigun within the hallway and just fucking obliterates them in 3 seconds. No class can out dps the heavy, if the heavy catches you within ten feet with rev you are fucked. Heavy is actually the best class for dealing with choke points because he can just sit his ass on the payload with the FOS and just soak up damage. The point of heavy is that he is strong enough where if he has the advantage, you can't "pick and choose your battles" because he'll rape you. Again, watch any highlander match and you'll see how important this class is. I don't know who your bitching and moaning about who's bitching and moaning but you clearly never played anything past a pub if you can't see the worth of every class in every environment that isn't sixes.
Ok, are we done? It's getting late and you're just blatantly ignoring any point I bring up and dismissing it as "lul you're dogshit" despite the fact that I'm giving advice on how to shit on Heavy as that specific class and the rest of it is just you repeating the same points I've already shot down, over and over again.
You literally haven't said anything
Yeah, I figured as much.
They've had plenty of no restriction 6s matches and almost always the winning team composition is something close to standard 6s meta, because blobbing with an uber is just that effective and mobility is key to blobbing.
Heavy is just boring to fight and a skill gate that is harder for low skill players while higher skill players know how to overcome.
The comp banlist is built around not making baby soldier mains cry, nothing else
>base jumper having actual mobility
NOOOOO I CAN'T HIT HIM WITH MY ROCKETS, YES I COULD EASILY SWITCH TO ANY HITSCAN CLASS BUT WAAAAAAHHH VALVE NERF IT
>heavy being viable in any capacity
WAAAAAAH I CAN'T BEAT HIM WITH SOLDIER, YES I COULD SWITCH TO ANY OF THE CLASSES THAT COUNTER HEAVY BUT BUT I DON'T WANNA
WAAAAAAAH IT'S NOT FAIR THAT PYRO CAN DEAL ACTUAL DAMAGE BY REFLECTING MY ROCKETS WAAAAH VALVE NERF THIS
Posts like this make me believe Soldier Derangement Syndrome is an actual thing
A versatile Heavy knows when to switch melee!
>don't use tascha
Heavymains are inoffensive, but always retarded.
A bro of mine and I once paired up with tachas and played payload. We escorted the payload successfully every time. Two tascha's trained on a single person made them grind to a halt. It was hilarious.
Natascha, chokky bar and GRU is my favorite roaming Heavy loadout
Only retards think Natascha and Dalokoh's Bar are bad.
>all those words
just shoot the other team and give your sandwich to the medic
I use it because I think It looks tastier than the banana
>play how i want you to play or ELSE
no thanks i will keep using the scorch shot
Scorched shot is based, I live spamming it at snipers. I also love natascha, it fucks with rocket jumping idiots so much
>playing Brass Beast, Shotgun and Holiday Punch
motherfucker beat me to the H*R meme.
>Natascha is LE BAD!
It's because heavymains are fags that want to be on good terms with everyone. If they had any sense they wouldn't gimp themselves but they have to hate one of their best weapons because other people don't like it.
>Not using full stock heavy
I would like to bring my shotgun as Heavy, but unfortunately, since every fucking Medic main on the planet is incapable of doing anything aside from sucking off the Soldier, I have to bring a lunchbox item to heal.
Why does the Dalokohs bar still exist? It's completely useless. It was only useful pre-nerf when you could use it to kill 2 sentries without dying.
Mannconomy was a mistake.
>accept the secondary meta
the shotgun is a good weapon and compliments the minigun, redditors shit themselves when you start strafing and dealing burst damage
no i will not be healing my teammates or my medic you shouldn’t have been in the position to get hurt in the first place
>Huo Long Heater
its heavy time
comptards screeching in terror at a heavy moving slightly faster because it imbalances their make-believe game mode
>call themselves competitive
>ban everything that makes the game fun
Compfags are cringe and can’t handle any kind of itemization outside of their gay meta
why can't they stay on their own servers and modes
>leave the sentry nest to me
>let me BE the sentry
For me it’s sitting in front of the payload cart with the Brass Beast and holding m1 until red team go bye or we win.
it's honestly overhated. people underestimate you when you run this thing but then you shred them to pieces. it requires a bit of a different playstyle but it's not at all the meme sentry playstyle people think it is.
The only classes compfags want are soldier, scout, medic, and demo. If they had their way no other class would even exist.
>banned in comp
how you know a playerbase is filled with whiny morones
Guys I finally got over my racism and started playing demoman, should I use iron bomber or stock?
I prefer stock but it probably doesn't matter.
They finally fixed Iron Bomber's bugged crutch hitbox so just git gud with stock
Loose canon, so you can be the 125 hp class obliterator you were meant to be.
iron bomber's huge hitbox got nerfed so there's no reason to use it over stock anymore
>shoot enemy feet and miss with ib
>you've got a free sticky on the ground that will propably kill them anyway after you land the second shot
>use stock and miss
>roller rolls away 80% of the time
Dunno, I still like the bomber.
ib is also very fun to jump with
If you like using your GL for spam then go for the iron bomber, if you like firing into crowds then go with stock.
Both are good and it can depend a lot on map location and playstyle which comes out on top.
Want to blindly spam pills over a wall? Well, consider if you want earlier explosion and no roll, or if you want later explosion and roll.
put dispenser here
It's not even banned retarded victim main
This list is pathetic holy shit
Half the things that are banned are garbage tier weapons
>Detonator, Scorch Shot, GAS PASSER??
>Quick Fix, Vaccinator
>Like 30 taunts
Taunts that give you third person view are deemed Unfair because it lets you look around corners without risk
Every taunt gives you a third person view?
Interruptable ones like High Five are much better at it
But they also have a fixed duration that you can't do anything during. The toggle taunts let you look around the corner for as long as you want and react to things immediately when you stop it.
Are you guys serious? check the page history
It's been edited only 8 times since 2012. You think this list is accurate?
Uh yeah that lines up pretty much perfectly with TF2's updates
I thought competitive mode didn't have weapon restrictions?
The comp item restrictions this anon linked
shows a shitload of banned weapons
It has some, only ones for the Heavy is Fists of Steel and Steak. Most of the bans are for Scout secondaries.
heavy's entire class is that he's big and powerful but slow
giving him an item that negates his one downside is stupid
back when GRU was added all it did was drain 3 health every 1 second and you could even avoid it by rapidly weapon switching and jumping, it was so fucking broken and invalidated every other melee choice
>Weapon literally no one used as a utility unlike the GRU
>Benefits melee combat exclusively
>Nerf it to uselessness because it made Heavy slightly faster
I will never forgive Valve for this, Eviction Notice was my favorite weapon in the game.
Why the FUCK would you put a drain max health trait on a melee weapon that was actually used for melee combat?
>if you hit an enemy you can go faster for half a second
>this is too OP, slap health drain on it
Why the fuck did they even touch it? the original just being a straight swing speed increase damage decrease was better then the shit it currently is.
I could only assume its because of the 15% move speed increase, which is pretty much jack shit in practice. The only people who used the Eviction Notice were using it for borderline meme-tier melee Heavy loadouts, which I was a part of just because running circles around someone punching them to death was fun as hell.
The le epic Jojo reference community cosmetic set they added AFTER the EV nerf was just insult to injury as well.
>TF2 team panders to compfags
>Compfags still refuse to allow the items in comp matches or they are so garbage they are not good for even meme builds
>Even if they do allow the items in they still refuse to change the their meta or keep them banned anyway
>TF2 team doesn't revert said changes
Compfags bitch about the game being stale and dying while they refuse to let any class, no, any other weapon be viable. This is what we call autism
What did you play today, fellow tf2 anons?
I played some Heavy on pl_frontier and got top score as RED, fair numbers of getting backstabbed though
On backstabbing: Pyros are either the most retarded or the most skilled player in pub. The bad are oblivious to spies, some will get trickstabbed like a toddler, and they don't actively puff their 200 ammo flamethrower around to spycheck. Then the skilled Pyro has some of the best CC and damage tools available in CQC, easily dominate the entire other team with just a Medic behind.
Pyro is the class that best matches that meme IQ cart where only very low and very high IQ players can be good?
>the retarded bonk change
im still mad
Its not even banned you whiny bitch. Hasn't been for a couple years now.
compfags should die
6v6 is a horrid format, tf2 is at its best on 24+ player servers
I have no idea how you have a game with 9 classes and don't decide to play 9v9 and 18v18
Because nobody wants to play with class limits, and without class limits why would you ever play 9v9
>can mortar shitty sentry spots from across the map
>use iron bomber
>effective range is like 20 feet
That's what stickies are for.
I cannot imagine being such a cuck that I main heavy
But you are retarded enough to main something in Team Fortress
>get to point 3 seconds faster
>-200 max hp
Why do comptrannies love soldier so much?
they too shit for quake.
Easy to play and with enough skill can be the strongest class in the game by far. That max skill is also easier to get to than pretty much any other class.
Soldier, Demo, and Medic are the three easiest classes in the game, hence why they dominate the competitive meta, and since good Scouts can pick Medics, sometimes they show up.
After Scout would be Sniper, which is rare in comp but there are still some really good ones out there.
The other classes are basically never played. Heavy had a few competitive players, mainly for fun since Heavy's awful in comp, but with the nerfs most of them quit.
>check compfag playtime stats
>most played sniper with 2000 hours
>second most played scout with 400 hours
>everything else is sub 100 hours
If you talk about "maining" anything in fucking Team Fortress 2 I will assume you are one of these retards who couldn't even tell me the stats of The Southern Hospitality
I don't main anyone and I couldn't tell you the exact stats on that one.
Southern Hospitality is a piece of shit.
I don't know about sixes but highlander literally requires you to pick one class out of the nine, so compfags should get good with the one because trying to figure out who should switch to what class on the fly in a team of nine players is retarded
It does bleed and has some sort of damage penalty, it's a fucking engineer melee that isn't the gunslinger who gives a fuck. At least the EE can do stupid shit
>it's a fucking engineer melee that isn't the gunslinger who gives a fuck.
This is what I mean. Exactly the kind of retardation I expect to hear from someone who plays competitively.
Why did Valve want to listen to people who only have experience with three out of nine classes at best?
What are you on about
>oh hey look at this one cherry picked comp player I found, and he mains sniper!
>see, that's enough proof that soldier is definitely not the most sweaty shitter class, even though the lineup of every competitive 6s game has 2 soldiers minimum but please ignore that.
Soldier and soldier mains will always the be the biggest screeching gays of the TF2 community.
Thats just being based though. In every game ive ever played ive one tricked 1 or 2 characters and never touched the others. I have thousands of hours in tf2 and I've never played medic or spy for even 1 second, everyone else but my top 3 is sub 1 hour
I mean that's good on you but I'm going to spoil something for you, if you one trick as Heavy, jump into a pub and literally anybody else who's one tricking another class joins on the other team. You're not going to beat them, you'll be forced to play a campy match with your engineers who were already holding down the fort without you.
You're not going to spoil anything for me, I have thousands of hours in this game I know what its like
My bad, I don't even know why I replied to you. 3AM brain.
What happened to valve balancing where they just make everything op?
That's a long and complicated story of trend chasing Blizzard's comp scene and yet keeping the mentality of Nintendo and not sponsoring it.
>valve balancing where they just make everything op
2009 was 14 years ago
remember when valve randomly doubled natasha's max ammo then reverted it a day later
>Buffalo Steak Sandvich
I am the mentally deficient engineer
It's actually fascinating that compmorons are pushing for valve to nerf anything that is viable outside of stock when they just ban it all anyway.
What pushes these people to play TF2 when CSGO is already made for them?
Because they're completely different games?
Yeah, and they're playing the wrong one.
>Item is too good, remove it, I know better than valve! >:(
God, comp is cancer.
I don't understand why they ban items on low tier characters. if they gave them access to their better tools they might have a chance of seeing use.
comfags don't want to play 6s with heavy in basic rollout because it's boring, that's it
>less complex and varied meta is boring
I hate comp fags so much. they have to ruin every game with their autism
