People aren't homeless because there's a lack of resources to help them. The resources are there and they don't want to make use of them. That's something you'll never understand if you haven't lived around them, especially if you've never worked fast food and interacted with them in a heavy homeless area. They like living like that, anon. The majority of them do it by choice.

          Anonymous

The vast vast majority of homelessness resolves itself in or around 1 year. The people you see on the street long term are there because they can't or won't integrate into society. You could give the the keys to a paid off house today and they'd be back on the streets sooner than later. There are huge issues with US housing including corporate landlords but it's not the cause of homelessness as we commonly know it. Homelessness as we know it is predominantly a symptom of untreated mental illness.
