High quality editing, good delivery of scripts, steady release of new content.
These are the most important things to becoming a successful youtuber. Other things, like if the content is actually good or if his opinions don't suck, are distant secondary concerns. Most other theorist type youtube channels are going to have shitty mic quality, bad stuttery script reading or even no script at all, boring editing with just audio over gameplay, and only release a video once a year.
In a better world fucks like Matt Patt and Yong Yea wouldn't get any attention at all.

He knows dumb shit theories make for interesting clickbait tittles than committing to a single theory. That way, the content well is never run out and he can just slap on the “but it’s just a…” for good measure.
His Hollow Knight video for example, he straight up ignored what the game told him to make his theory sound more plausible. And the majority of his viewers only here to watch him, they don’t give a damn if it’s correct or not.

Man, I watched the GameTheory videos in the first FNaF games when they were new, and they were really good for the time; but by that point it was becoming obvious MatPat was some kind of paid shill. By the fifth or so game Scott Coffin just came straight out and said he was working with GameTheory the whole time to promote his games, and now MatPat has a role in the movie. He works directly for YouTube too, so it's clear that GameTheory is just doing lowkey ARG work to promote certain games. There are millions of kids who have never played the games that just want to explore its "lore" and make fan content. I never touched FNaF, but I enjoyed the GT videos about the first three games until actual good video game essay channels started popping up.
