What did Jagex mean by this?
>be OSRS. >2023. >passwords stored in plain text files. >passwords still not case sensitive

i don't play this bollocks anymore but it blew my mind after playing this dogshit for like 12 years that the passwords aren't case sensitive
Mod Jed
Pretty based actually. My Hotmail was hacked way back when and I lost everything. Years later, I was able to recover my original RuneScape account, most likely because the passwords were stored like this. Thank you, jadex!
Kind of crazy that RuneScape has been bought and sold by like 3 different venture capital companies and is still alive some 2 decades later. The "game" is awful but they found their niche and are one of the few old "MMOs" that are still around today.
These moves were used in The Old Republic CGIs.
Are they actually in plain text? I've never seen any evidence of that from the user side. Normally when companies store your stuff in plaintext they'll do things like send you password confirmations with the actual password, or be able to send you your password without resetting it.
it's widely accepted that this is how mod jed was able to 'hack' so many accounts
That's all speculation, though. He could have just abused account recoveries with information that his position would have given him (account creation date, login locations, etc).
Although now that you mention it, I remember Jagex accepts previous passwords as personal information in account recoveries. Unless they're manually hashing those passwords, that does point to plaintext storage
WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU BEFORE?
runescape was never magical, it was never an escape from reality infact it was the worst parts of reality embedded into one game. 30 year old adhd boomers cant get enough of this shitty game and i can never understand why
Cookie Clicker 2.0
its just an idle afk cookie clicker simulator. You are overthinking it lol. Most people casually chop wood or fish while watching a movie.
>you are overthinking it
and so were clearly jagex, atleast cookie clicker has the audacity to present itself as a mediocre time waster
No one ever thought it was magical you overdramatic gay it was a game you played with friends in comp class when the teacher wasnt paying attention and now its a mobile game timekiller you can play while taking a shit, its effortless.
>I can never understand why
It's called dopamine you drooling retard.
RS is getting a launcher and a battle.net type login system, but yes being able to recover other peoples accounts because they created an account in a public library and snipe peoples usernames is jagex’s fault.
>game old enough to buy whiskey
>still $11/month
Built for Masochists
A majority of accounts pay for their gametime with ingame currency. If you have ever in your life gotten a decent rare drop from a boss you probably have enough gold to buy years of membership and then some. Especially in RS3.
The game is way too expensive for how shit it is.
Screenshots from Lynx Titan AMA, he's actually one of the more well adjusted people from high-level community. HLC Ironmen who chase hi-scores are freaks tryna replicate Lynx Titan's "success".
>well adjusted
I say this to emphasize how autistic the HLC is on OSRS. The literal #1 who only consumed bread, lasagne and water is less degenerate than some of the active HLC members today,
where can I find the passwords?
Do you guys think zezima was either:
>a turbo autist neet
>a dude sharing his account among friends in other timezones so he was always active
>the first rsbot programmer
Zezima aint shit on the current sperglords. Rank 1 on osrs is a legit autist that only eats lasagne
How so?
t. haven't touched runescape in decades
Lv 99 in a skill is about 13m xp
Rank 1 has 200m xp in all skills. The highest xp amount you can possibly have in a skill.
There's also some autist who has like 1b or something xp in just agility over multiple accounts.
is 200m in all skills hard in osrs?
t. rs3fag
Not hard, just extremely time consuming.
sorry, i maybe phrased that poorly. do very few people have 200m in everything in osrs? im pretty sure quite a lot of people do in rs3
Currently 40 people have 200m all skills. One of them being an ironman which is a whole new upper plane of autism.
i see, thank you. runescape in general seems to attract a very bizarre breed of autist. one of my old fishing buddies from 116 had over 2billion in fishing. they tracked their stats externally and reset the counter whenever it hit 200m. they just fished. strange.
You can never have enough fish
yeah tbf i like fishing. im 101 in fishing iirc but at most 80 in anything else. fishing is fun
>200m RC experience in OSRS
Holy fuck why
fat stacks
It gets """easier""" with time as new training methods are introduced but it's still a massive time investment. Some tick manipulation methods will literally fuck up your hand and they're pretty much required unless you want to spend a decade on 200m. OSRS also doesn't have shit like double xp events or buyable xp lamps. The closest it has are buying bonds to sell for gp on the buyable skills.
Peter zezima was just a nerd studying medicine, he had a lot of spare time when not at lectures to play rs, is all.
Since he fell off soon as summoning was introduced I think it was some dweeb living the bachelor life until finally he could use his name to get pussy at a convention
God I hated grinding for charms to train summoning, it took fucking forever and you'd burn through them all in 4-5 runs to the obelisk. Never unlocked Bork/Skeletal Horror before I stopped playing though which may have helped with the blue charm grind.
he was just a regular asian
Luckily the LGBT shit pushed all the remaining old guard out so it can die like runescape 3.
Found my account after 10 years, my goals to finish dragon slayer and get a lava cape
