    Christianity in a nutshell

You don't get saved in Christianity because you're "good." Do they teach anything in schools anymore?

You have to be actually penitent and feel sorry for your sins

And that’s why Christianity is immoral in its ethics. Literal psychopathic serial murderers and child rapists confess their sins to Jesus on their death beds and are forgiven and allowed into Heaven according to Christianity. No, people like that need to burn in Hell for all eternity.

Literally the only time Arthur shows remorse is when collecting debts for Strauss.
He murders thousands and doesn't bat an eye. And the 'regret' he starts expressing later on is because the gang keeps fricking up, not because they're killing people.

Arthur isn't a kid. He's done it his whole life. I swear people who play this shit have some sort of underdeveloped brain and don't see that the gang is full of literal villains.

So robbing people legally like the way Cornwallis does it is okay? You can’t blame people for the tools they were given

              Anonymous

Never said that. Cornwall could be considered a 'thief', sure, and a bad person too, probably.
But Arthur is a thief and a mass murderer and there is a very big step between the two. He's irredeemably evil.

Are you stupid? Arthur has always admitted that they are bad guys, unlike Dutch who has delusions that they are "robin hood" who steals from the rich and give to the poor. He also always has a conscious, but he's also was raised by Dutch his whole life, living as an outlaw is the only thing he knows. He even doubted that they could just disappear and live happily ever after. "You don't get to live a bad life and have good things happen to you." is one of his quotes.

It's usually /misc/, they think that because he was killing people he should have been this over the top racist and overall shitty person. He still had some morals and beliefs, he was still remorseful and wasn't cool with all the shit he was doing for the gang. Of course they haven't played the game, these threads always turn into a 300+ reply thread of people b***hing about whos morals are right and better, while being completely fricking ignorant to the game, and the historical things that are referenced in it. The point where everything they were trying to do with the story fell completely on its head. I can’t believe they didn’t even try to put in some kind of stealth option where you don’t kill anyone. Rockstar doesn’t care about the connection between gameplay and story but that doesn’t stop them getting automatic 10/10’s every fricking time.

That's the way to do it, outlaw path is way more fun anyways. Some of my fondest memories of the game were the standoffs you get with the armies of bounty hunters that hunt you down, finding an abandoned house and just standing my ground until they're all dead. Screw all that "arthur's such a good guy i couldnt bring myself to be evil", it's way more fun to be bad.

I know ludonarrative dissonance is basically a meme nowadays, but that one mission where you massacre an entire town just to save Micah was at such odds with the story and Arthur's character

He frees Micah on Dutch’s bc at this point he still believes in the man that raised him and his hatred of Micah can be seen as baseless and paranoia so he trusts Dutch over himself. Then he gets shot at. Did you want him to just die?

        >Did you want him to just die?
No, but killing those dozens of people would make Arthur one of the worst mass murderers in US history, and that's just one mission
RDR2 isn't meant to be a satire the way GTA is; you can't have the protagonist kill literally hundreds of people throughout the mandatory story missions and still have a theme of redemption that you take seriously

John was always a disloyal moronic simp cuck backstabber. You just played the game from his perspective. There’s a reason why everyone takes advantage of him and then he dies like the loser he is.

Arthur is loyal to a fault, no one denies it. But you can’t blame him when it was to his surrogate father who had a manipulative hold on him. And how he felt he was responsible for the entire gangs survival and wellbeing. Not everyone can leave their prostitute wife and her son for 2 years and come back and have everything be fine

He can’t just leave them to fend for themselves and run off with Mary. Or just runaway like a pussy like john. His blindness to Dutch because he was raised by him is understandable. This annoys me so god damn much. Every Rockstar game is like this, it feels like they're still introducing new mechanics and giving you handholding tutorials right up to the end of the game. Worst thing is, most of these mechanics are only used in a mission or two and are then either forgotten about or aren't even possible in free roam.

It is yea and the story is also really good, arthur isn't the only character, there's like 10 important characters and they are all surprisingly fleshed out.

I'm convinced there is ONE autist making threads whining about red dead 2 every single day. Normalgays forgot about it a year ago.

    >Marriage? A sacred institution? Heh, it's anything but in my experience, brother, I can tell you that. If two fellers wanna tie the knot, who am I ta say no? If the Lord ain't judged our gang, I'd say he's been takin' some time off the job, yer probably safe. Heh heh. Have at it, I say.
    >Abortion? Well, that's a rough one. Bit of a tough pill to swaller. At first, I didn't rightly take kindly to the idea of killin' babies, but Dutch gave me this ole thick science book and I pretty much surmised that well, that thing is about as human as Micah here, which is lackin' to say the least, heh. Hell, I'd say a gal has the right to choose.
    >A gal? As president? Well, what I can tell ya is its been nothin' but fellers since this whole thing here started up and what have we got? A bunch of other dead fellers. What have we got ta lose? I reckon' tryin' a gal's touch wouldn't do anyone no harm. If weakness is a concern of yours, I promise you some of the ladies runnin' in my gang would probably make Old Hickory look like a nancy in comparison. Hell, I'd reckon its her turn.
    >Lettin' a black feller do yer wife? Well, if the old lady's havin' fun, who am I to deny her that? I reckon that feller's got a bigger one than me anyway. Besides, we gotta pay some back for that whole slavery bid'ness we did to them. Dutch raised me and I ain't his real son, so I'll raise my wife's son, whether he's black or white.
    >Cuttin off yer willie sure sound silly but I reckon a feller might as well chop it off he ain't goin use it. And i suppose a wig can't do harm neither, heck men use to wear em all the time back in them oldin' days.

Slavery? I'mma thinking it was just the biggest robbery in history Dutch. Those poor black folks stolen from their land and taken here to work for rich white fellers, biggest robbery
in history no doubt about it. Everyone should all be ashamed of what was done in the name of money. Heck iffin black folk were to rise up and kill every last one of them I reckon i'd be right there beside em cheering em on until every last slaver and their families and their friends were dead. Its the least any right thinking person should do. Then we would ALL be free. I mean isn't that what this here gang is all about? Freedom?

Children? Well Dutch i'm a believer that if a woman doesn't want a baby growing inside her, taking up her time and natural energies, she should be able to get rid of it. Its the most natural thing in the world from before ancient times even, and since fellers are the ones going around impregnating women folk its right that women folk can set it right again. I mean you can't depend on a man to do much of anything right. I mean its a womans body after all, aint nobody else should have a say in that, in particular no man. Thats what imma thinking and to blazes with anyone saying "God" or some such nonsense about the sanctity of life.

Yes, I agree that women should have the right to their own bodies, and that the bible is nothing but a story book.

I mean that’s the last thing I’d complain about with that story. Having a crisis of conscience when you realise you are dying is extremely common.

Being faced with his own mortality as well as the increasingly apparent instability, delusion, and lies of his father figure made him realize everything he had done was wrong and none of Dutch's sugar coating could convince him otherwise again. He knows he's not a good man but he's trying to undo what damage he can and try to not cause any more. He's still well aware there's no hope left for him but it doesn't mean he has to keep doing more bad shit and can't try to save those who shill have a chance.

I also like his 21st century woke view on life and the world, very brave for an outlaw in the late 1900.

He's a feminist. He understands all races are equal. He supports homosexuality and all gender identities. He hates Trump.

He's always been a good boy, he just got mixed in with the wrong crowd.

the entire point is that arthur is human garbage that deserves to die. he is awful. the world is better off without him.

but he wasnt all bad. he had good qualities.

How did Ganker get filtered by a video game set in the American South West? Its like the same people who complain about KOTOR 2 being too complex or New Vegas having too many options to solve quests.

    >I'm dying, I'm a good boy now
Where the hell did you get that from? The only thing that an honorable play-through changes is slight conversation changes, and the way Arthur finally dies, nothing else. In no way is it implied that Arthur is a good man.
