>want to focus on making One Setting to Rule Them All™
>essentially I want to be able to do a campaign then have the next campaign take place 40 years later in the same world
>can't decide on system and that matters alot because it affects what races I include
>5e is most popular and I don't mind it,.I like making monsters in it the most
>3.5e I have every splatbook and love making weird npcs like bugbear rogue/hexblades with two headed hammers guarding their hobgoblin wizard master.
>BX is cool too because it's flexible and easy but not a lot of NPC building nor does it suit my massive miniatures collection and battle grid very well
>no other fantasy TTRPGs appeal to me, I've read many
>also want to have all groups in different parts of the same world.
>I've made like 10 settings at this point for different campaigns and most could've been part of the same world
>problem.is every time I make a world, I lose all interest in world building for it after a while, plus when I ran Pathfinder the PCs shit all over it and could have conquered the entire world by level 10

If you lose interest, then you shouldn't try to make a huge setting at all, make a small one whit template for future expansions as needed

3.5e plus epic6 plus focus on hirelings and building a kingdom.

They don't level up and get new powers, they get an army.

        You make a generic setting
You leave a bunch of macguffins that do weird shit around
And you let the players find the macguffins and do dumb shit with them

      >Settings are system agnostic you moron
Not really. If I include tome of battle 3.5 stuff in the setting but use 5e then I have a laod of extra work to do.

...has this site gotten so autistic that people complain about even a plural "their" now?
      That's just depressing.

No, actually, that was my bad for jumping the gun and not reading. I'll take responsibility for that one.

You are still a homosexual, however.

Palladium Fantasy is the only objectively correct answer for ya to run your grand syatem in

Try Dungeon Crawl Classics, I think that has a good balance of flexibility while still being able to flesh characters out. Also there's lots of tables and you get to use weird dice, it's a fun system with some unpredictable outcomes.

The whole point is to play DnD. I mean dcc is cool and while I've heard many horror stories of palladium I'm sure it's fun too, and I DO play other systems alot, probably more than DnD at this point (and I don't mean Pathfinder) but I'm looking for a solution for my DnD campaigns specifically.

D&D was originally expected to be played with miniatures using chainmail rules, so there's no reason to rule out B/X. Other than that, use GURPS.

    >want to make one mega setting
    >gets bored by the setting after some time
So do you actually want one big setting or not?
Because it sounds like you only think you want one but in reality you want to come up with new stuff without going into too much detail. Which is totally fine but it doesn't really lend itself to autistic world building with tons of details.
    Just keep doing your thing.

Run your fave version of D&D.
Start with a small corner of the world filled out.
After every session add something new to the world
After each adventure, the time line fast forward one season (as players have to train, do cleric/Magic user things or what not).

If later editions, limit them to lower levels so you don't have to do epic gameplay.

20 sessions later you have a big world map, and its 5 years of history built.

Bad idea, don't try. This is how you get shitty no focus kitchen sink settings.
Figure out the kind of game you want and build around that.
