Reminder, since the PS2 there has been literally 0 reason to use a fight stick. The controller is perfect.

i tried that one but i couldn't hold it comfortably, part of the grip would dig into my hand
also it's known that the d-pad wears out considerably over time

mine's still good I think, it's been 4-5 years. how did you hold it? I don't use claw grip, never placed it on my lap and never felt any discomfort

i think i tried to hold it with my left hand and rest it on my lap so i could tap the face buttons with my fingers. maybe that made it unbalanced for me and put too much pressure onto my left hand causing me to grip it too tightly
maybe i'll try it again sometime but i think you can only get the switch version now, otherwise you're forced to get the octa which i've heard is pretty flimsy

yeah just tried it, my fingers get pushed onto my knee/lap either that or I don't have full range of motion if I place it flat on the lap if that makes sense. the ps4 and xbox versions are still available, just checked Amazon and ebay. I've only heard bad things about the octa based on the reviews I've read and watched

I've wanted a hitbox for years, but I never fully switched from pad to stick anyway.
Now I'm looking at a micro, but I'll at least wait until they get native PS5 support anyway.
ABA isn't even in Strive yet, so I've got time before I have to get serious.
I commissioned this piece of ABA and her husband, and it occurs to me now I could have put that money towards a micro instead. Ah well, it isn't like I'm hard up for cash.

I don't know, man. Her top is so fricking weird, I'd be OK with her wearing something a little nicer. As long as she's still got bloody bandages for the bandage girl look she's based on, I'd be happy to see her in a dress or at least a cute top.
Part of her deal is she considers herself high-class because Flask is a mansion, why not dress the part?

I'm not a fighting game gay. Can someone explain to me why you guys like using these things so much? The last time I played a fighting game was like 10 years ago but I always used a controller. Anything else sounds uncomfortable as hell. Is there some advantage to them or is it just some hipster shit they have?

The big advantage is access to your attack buttons. Spreading your fingers out over 8 buttons is just straight up better access than the way you hold a standard controller. You can hit them more easily and in more variations. Double tapping, sliding, hitting two or three at once is all easier on an arcade stick layout compared to a controller, and a lot of games require those kind of things.
Nowadays the rise of stickless arcade sticks give that same kind of access to directional inputs, which means you have that same kind of access with double tapping and sliding on your directionals as well. That's just straight up superior to a traditional arcade joystick or a dpad/analog stick, and because many games have shortcut inputs you can take advantage of them better on a stickless stick as well.

You grew up playing on pad, some people learned to play fighting games on arcade machines. Some even used keyboards at home. Arcade sticks make some inputs easier, but at the same time they make some motions like DP be slower. In comparison to modern pads (not the saturn one, whcih has a flat layout), its easier to piano, do 360s and hold buttons for negative edge on stick
