We got so fricking close to a good halo game and they ruined it. It's not fair

Because the game tries to be cod and fortnite at the same time
it doesn't
>t. it doesn't'
explain then
343 keeps listening to morons. they should have got rid of sprint after 4. let alone 5 and Infinite. Literally only like 1/16 of the playerbase wants sprint to stay. everyone else despises it
If you think sprint is even in the top 5 things wrong with Infinite, then you're a fricking moron.
Yeah because the way they implemented sprint is redundant, its neither a problem or improvement
iirc, sprint in Infinite only makes you slightly faster. It's not an issue in Infinite
pretty much, so everyone questions why it's still in the game when it does nothing. It's just a state to use for sliding.
They listened to the og fans but didn't want to commit all the way.
>Literally only like 1/16 of the playerbase wants sprint to stay
I don't like sprint but we're the minority
Most players just want to go fast you don't need sprint to do that
>Because the game tries to be cod and fortnite at the same time
what are you talking about???
halogays aren't well in the head. It's dogshit but it's nothing like COD or Fortnite.
>the game and fanbase that 343 wanted
>failed 3 times
>Microsoft ends up buying CoD
What game is that?
Black Ops 3 with Halo weapon mod
Do you have a bit more of faith now that Bonnie Ross got fired?
The current lead for games is the producer who oversaw the MCC fixes and ports.
Interesting, maybe there hope. They would have to stop doing cosmetic shit and start updating the actual content
Far too late to be doing something like that, she wasn't even responsible for all the stupid shit going on inside 343. The rest of 343 will still ruin it for him.
They fell for the open world meme and paid for it, I don't know why every AAA developer wants to do an open world with padded content so you play 60+ hours, it's disgusting.
Then they also fricked the cosmetic shop, not satisfying neither Halo 30yo manchilds or skin adhd zoomers.
I enjoyed the multiplayer for like 20 hours before burning out, more maps were needed and reaching Onix was too easy.
One thing I give it to Infinite is that made me appreciate the other gameplay modes to the point slayer was my least favorite in ranked.
>I don't know why every AAA developer wants to do an open world with padded content
Because it's easy and slapping "open world" on it will sell copies
>Because it's easy
the thing is open world games aren't that easy. My understanding of it is that it's actually quite ressource intensive to make and probably requires a lot of rethinking from a team that exclusively worked on linear fps up to that point, encounter design, map design, interface, and so on: all of what 343 might have learned on halo 4 & 5 was probably thrown out for the open world section of the game.
you are however correct about the "it sells copies" which is probably why it happened and also why a lot of other franchise previously known for their linearity became open world pseudo-RPG because this industry works by marketing peer-pressure and 343 probably gave up on making a "classic" halo, wrote the bungie-fedayeens as a loss and proceeded to make a game they assumed would have mass market appeal despite the fact they had no previous experience doing this kind of game.
No, it was not that. The reason they make it open world was to make a game with more/better sandbox , they were trying to make classic halo
But classic halo was linear with some open/sandbox level design. Silent cartographer was the perfect balance, a well designed level with scripted encounters but also open for some exploration and different avenues of approach.
I played Halo Inifinte, it was literally just far cry 2 except worse
Specifically open world seems to have killed coop and made forge much more of a lift.
Nothing about this was good except the return of the original covenant designs and the soundtrack was good. That's it.
>Weapons + roster
>three lane maps
>optimization
>BTB
>UI
>Destiny ghost clones

>sound design
>campaign
All fricking suck, how can anyone still play this shit? Even with the inclusion of Forge
I do think it has the best gunplay. They just need to bring back a lot more old weapons because some of the new ones are just redundant.
Other than gunplay literally everything else is just terrible including content. Halo 1's multiplayer on PC had more maps.
This is just halo 5.2 though.
It's being barely better than 4 isn't a complement.
Please... i require playable elites and fatass spartans...
>bring up feminine looking spartans get flagged by trannies
They won't even let real females ask about it.
despite the esthetic matching halo well, the gameplay still isn't a return to form.
>>best gunplay since 3
Stopped reading here. The guns all feel like absolute shit, they're all super spammy and have tons of bloom and recoil that make it feel like CoD instead of Halo. Infinite is a Halo game where exactly 0 guns feel fun to use.
Dude it's on par with Reach, overall pretty good
Anything "on par" with Reach is far from good.
Reach is a good game apart from armour lock, get over it
It has many more issues than just Armor Lock.
reach zoomers, ignore these posters
I'm a '94 millenial
ok and? reach is still shit
Reach was good, eat shit, etc.
What made it good?
>good story
>good gameplay
>good level design and variation
>best looking halo game
>best covie designs
>varied weapon roster
>best firefight
>best forge
>kino soundtrack
It's not the best halo game but it's fun
You don't have to lie.
About what? be specific
The gameplay sucked. The removal of bleedthrough was a mistake and focused on nerfing something in the wrong ways. Movement was even more sluggish than a typical Halo game, and you were pretty much forced to sprint in order to make up for it.
Level design was the same straight line hallways as any other Halo game. Nothing special, but they had multiplayer maps interspersed into your hallways. There is not a single good multiplayer map in the whole of Reach.
The graphics were the same brown & bloom shit that was getting rightfully criticized in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Looked even worse with the intense motion blur on the 360 version. Halo 3 genuinely looks way better.
The weapon roster is full of the same clones as Halo 3, but everything got nerfed into the ground and made unfun to use. The AR taking 19 bullets to kill a player is demonstration enough for that.
The Firefight mode sucked because it was too self-contained and you could never really make it a survival mode. And you couldn't even try to play limited in matchmaking because it would be outvoted by people who want to fly around with jetpacks and shoot infinite ammo fuel rods.
Forge is fine. Good for the time, but lacked piece and setting variety and has since been usurped. Forge World was a mistake, the game would have benefitted by 5 separate maps instead of one gigantic one.
>using kino unironically
You might be right on a technical level but it's still fun
you don't have to be such a relentlessly contrarian c**t
the game was good, arguably the last good entry in the Halo series and the last one we'll get
>contrarian
Frick off, youngster. Reach was rightfully hated when it was new.
>look at me I think hating things is a personality!!!
fricking homosexual
Yeah Reach wasn't well received at launch. The forge maps, armor abilities, canon of the campaign, etc. It was the one to ruin the comp. scene of halo.
>best firefight
I disliked how Reach firefight reset to base skulls after a third set in endless mode unlike ODST firefight which had skulls stick around after you got that far. I guess better multiplayer support beats that negative out though.
MCC ODST Firefight has options as well now
MCC ODST got updated fairly quick to support the newer kind of networked co-op so it runs a lot more smooth than it did on the 360. The only thing it's really missing now are the Anniversary skulls that were ported to H3/ODST.
No firefight
MCC has Firefight now.
>super spammy
>but also tons of recoil and bloom
What in the frick
They balanced the weapons for CoD players. It's a shame, because Halo 5's pistol is the closest a Halo dev has gotten to a good starting weapon in a decade.
Motherfricker the sidekick is an incredible gun. Accurate, feels great to shoot, isn't obscenely overpowered.
>Accurate
It's not.
>feels great to shoot
It shoots peanuts.
Yeah it's not accurate but you have to rapidly tap the trigger to do good damage.
>it's not
It absolutely is, you can snag heads hots across the map, I do on MnK all the time.
>it shoots peanuts
It's a fricking pistol, it's fast, accurate, and has a faster time to kill than the magnum.
>It's a fricking pistol
It's Halo.
Yes, remember Halo 2 and ODST?
Remember CE?
Yes I do, remember it being so unbelievably good it was almost pointless to use anything that wasn't a one hit kill? I love the CE Magnum, but I don't think it's balanced in the slightest.
Nah, frick off. Sidekick works great with the AR, I'm having more fun with it than I did the previous AR/Magnum Combos in 3 and Reach.
CE's pistol was objectively more balanced than the sidekick.
But even if you are someone who barely played CE and cried out the pistol, they literally had the perfect starting point in the last game. 5's pistol was great. So good, they even ported its stats to Halo 3 when they added all the ODST weapons.
Balancing killed Halo
That combo is forced as frick. There's hardly ever a reason to switch away from the AR when you break shields because it does so much headshot damage.
Notice how people can't even decide if the AR or the sidekick is broken.
The AR is broken, the sidekick is unwieldy and not very fun to use.
It's like crack to use. I thought it looked shitty when it first got shown at E3, then I played the beta and it was addicting as hell.
I hate it. It's spammy, forces you to reload after every kill, and is plagued by the bloom shit that was solved last game. It's the exact antithesis of a Halo weapon, it's just a CoD gun with no iron sights and halved damage.
>forces you to reload after every kill
That's been the case with every pistol and every AR for every Halo game save CE. And you can't shoot it as fast as possible because you'll start missing at anything past close range, which is the case for any Magnum in Halo. You need to go fast, but not too fast. It feels great to get the hang of.
>That's been the case with every pistol and every AR for every Halo game save CE.
Not H5. And those games all had a rifle starting weapon almost right after launch.
Yeah, and the H5 magnum was on the too powerful end of the balancing spectrum.
By what metric? This is the same game where they just dumped a (slightly nerfed) CE AR into the game and it shit on every other gun.
Because they're both stupid garbage in different ways
>AR melts shields at range which is stupid because you can't strafe against the thing
>Sidekick can randomly kill you faster than the AR because of how fast you can fire it combined with random spread
Frick these guns
>ah, frick off. Sidekick works great with the AR, I'm having more fun with it than I did the previous AR/Magnum Combos in 3 and Reach.
Yeah because you don't even have to aim well. Sidekick being one of the strongest weapons in the game while being inaccurate is fricking garbage design.
The sidekick is a weapon with shit design that encourages spamming shots as fast as possible
Its a better pistol than either H2's or H3's
It's still a garbage pistol, spammy low power weapons have always been terrible in Halo
carbine was pretty good throughout the games.
Carbine was not good in 2/3 because of how inaccurate it was
It was fine in 2, but sucked in 3 because they nerfed its damage. I'll never forgive Bungie for fricking over the 2 most fun Covenant weapons in each beta.
Never had a problem with it in H2
I've been having tons of fun with the game ever since the Winter Update. The December Update only further cemented my opinion. Is the game perfect? No. But it's safe to say that Infinite is back on track to success thanks to Pierre. God bless him.
>bloom AND recoil AND desync AND hitreg issues
>missing series mainstay weapons
>literal toy soldier designs
>everything else sucks too
shitfinite
series mainstay weapons
There's nothing inherently wrong with this. Halo has had a bloated arsenal for a long time and was overdue for a culling. Where they went wrong in Infinite was keeping a hundred precision weapons that all accomplish the same goal.
the game is centred around a brute led faction and it doesn't even have the fricking BRUTE SHOT
>no brute shot
>no spiker
>no mauler
Open world meme needs to die. Literally nothing but grass and Ubisoft as far as the eye can see. My co-op buddies and I were trashing the open world and plot the whole way through.
Unpopular opinion: the Didact needs to come back.
>Unpopular opinion: the Didact needs to come back.
I HOPE YOU LIKE BOOKS homie
He's back, in book form
It’s honestly hilarious at this point, the one time they get the basics right they totally fumble the ball, on content of all things
Easily the worst in the series and that's not even taking into account the lack of couch co-op or other mainstay features missing at launch
>good weapon roster
The best gun in the game is the fricking AR. Frick Infinite.
>but 343 FINALLY made the AR worthwhile! no i totally didn't say this last game either
Having your shields shredded at mid range by the AR is stupid as shit considering how easy it is to use
Halo was never good, it was only good because of custom games and playing with friends, everything outside that was boring dog shit
Bunjee jumped ship at the right moment because this is trash lmao
>Halo was never good
right that's why everyone loves it and it sold millions of copies, god you contrarians are insufferable
And why nobody is playing it now.
People play MCC all the time to this day
MCC is dead as a doornail.
>goes 50% multiple times
>people can choose which game they want to buy at a cheap price already
>Forge
>CGB
>new cosmetics
>gay pass
Yet it still has 5k player count average and dozen of dead lobbies.
oh yeah not to mention there's modding support now and all the games can run on 2 GB card.
>buy mcc
>shitty matchmaking
>shitty versions of the classic halo game without the patches
>halo reach, but its the title update maps/game mode update
>quit a match
>get banned
>never played it again.
>>halo reach, but its the title update maps/game mode update
So Reach, but the closest it's ever gotten to playable?
>Halo 3 and reach custom games was what everyone played
>Halo died as soon as microsoft started pandering to socially inept shut ins
DUDE IT WAS ALWAYS GOOD! halo officially died when 343 bought it, attention seeking homosexual
>343 bought it
???
>halo was so good i spent all my time on it not playing halo
Sorry sweetie, Halo 3 custom games with a large group of friends were peak Halo, everything else was dog shit
343 is Microsoft. When you criticize 343, you're literally criticizing Microsoft. Bungie was its own studio and they carried Xbox to where it is today. They're just butthurt that they'll never amount to Bungie's success so they seethe and continue to sabotage Halo.
>so fricking close
not really. the designs are alright, I don't like the brutes' new aesthetic much. the weapons had some duds too, it was a flawed arsenal. the gunplay was definitely good, but then again Halo (especially bungo halo) never really struggled much with that. they got right what they inherited, and they butchered everything they needed to do themselves, e.g. design a good campaign and good multiplayer maps and modes. hard to see how that's close to a success
5 was better. All they had to do was get rid of slam and charge to make it perfect.
my homie
The guns all feel weak and shitty.
It didn't even have legs on Ganker.
People didn't even want to b***h about it.
They balance everything around it being competitive. Even the campaign suffers from being able to carry almost no ammo and having to switch constantly.
having to go to the fobs to refill your special weapons is stupid and shitty.
the game isnt great by any means and it makes me very sad. That said I do still play it and have hope for the future. it just sucks you have to wait 5 years for a halo game to be playable (MCC)
also just detroyed in infinite ranked since they juiced up MnK a little bit. The curb slide movement and forge maps make the game much more fun
How is it even remotely possible that 343, a studio whos existence is exclusively just to keep making halo games, hasnt make any good halo game?
Mishandling from both Microsoft and 343 higher ups
the main goal of 343 wasn't making good halo games at all, it was to steal money, basically a nft/crypto scam game but legal; its why SBF is in jail while Ross gets to have a upper class retirement.
Obviously a nitpick in the grand scheme of things but I didn't like how the UNSC and all the other Spartans were portrayed as useless weaklings desperate for Chief to save them. It felt like they overrcorrected on him getting shafted I'm 5.
I noticed too. They are turning Chief into space Jesus or something.
His reputation in canon is getting affected by his popularity outside of the game.
>we want the valorant audience
>Single suit of mjolnir armor costs as much as a whole fricking frigate
>UNSC built the giga frigate infinity and stocked it with a frickton of Mjolnir equipped Spartan 4s between Halo 3 and 4
>The Spartan 4s literally all died like worthless b***hes and Infinity was destroyed by a bunch of space monkeys
Of all the issues with 343, their storylines are probably the worst thing about them. They so convoluted and moronic.

Reminder they also killed Rare, introduced paid online to online console gaming, want to strip all ownership away from the consumer by making everything digital-only on Xcloud and Gamepass, and all off their exclusives are mtx-riddled pay-to-win garbage like Sea of Thieves, Gears4&5, and Halo 5.
It's also funny that some of you think buying Bethesda is going to save them. Bethesda hasn't made a good game since Skyrim, the rest of their games can't even hit metacritic scores of 80. Let's not also forget they let Bethesda put the Horse Amour DLC on the 360 marketplace back in 2007. If they hadn't done that, microtranstations and other bullshit greedy DLC practices wouldn't even be a thing today.
Microsoft is the most greedy, anti-consumer, monopolistic, disgusting company there is. Stop defending their shit, Ganker.
The SERIES ASS is an shit cucksole designed to scam the consumer renting troony indie games and 14 year old 360 games like goyim cattle.
If you buy and/or support Microsoft in any way, even ironically, you deserve death.
You're late
