Convinced that thinking any game except for Dark Souls 1 is worth any consideration is a sign of degenerative mental capacities.

I'm a zoomer btw and played Dark Souls 1 Two years ago.

it's simple, nobody that played ds1 the last, especially in the last 2 years, likes it the best.
The reason people like it the most, and to be fair it's a good reason, it's because to 90% of the people it was their first DS game, and what came after never had the same impact again

Firstlly Well, you're already proven on the wrong point because I liked it best, and still do after playing every other game in the Trilogy, the only fromsoft games that I have a hard time ranking it against is bloodborne and sekiro, but moreso sekiro. Second, If a game is truly good, then it can be appreciated, whether it's your second experience or not, No you cannot appeal to "first base bias" or even nostalgia which I've already shown isn't possible. People have to cope so hard to rationalize the fact that somebody could have such a hard difference in perspective that they end up being the biased ones. Look at Streetfighter 2, Dota 2, Any Soulcalibur after 2, idk, even fricking Super Mario Galaxy 2, Devil May Cry 3? If a games sequels are truly good then they can and will be appreciated. Don't appeal to "it was le first game" as if that means anything? Yeah it was my first game and I played the 2nd and 3rd and they were absolute shit compared to it, DS1's flaws are mitigated by its unmatched heights by literally ANY game in From's catalog, even Sekiro, it lacks pristine world and level design, permeating atmosphere, diversity and variety, bonfire placement/estus management, and a near perfect sense of progression, every other game feels so much more static by comparison or too dynamic (DS2)

Dark Souls 1 is the best Souls Game. No its not because it was my first. Everyone knows the "you should play the old game first because if you play the new ones it might sour you on the old ones!" I'm just not a shallow braindead, narrow minded enough b***h to not be able to appreciate DS1 holistically rather than pick at it for not being "fast and fluid" I AM BETTER BECAUSE OF THIS.

who said it can't be appreciated?
              >If a games sequels are truly good then they can and will be appreciated
Correct, and if you left the echochamber of Ganker you'd learn that in fact people like even ds3 more than ds1

Love how the initial argument was about implying that DS1 is only good only on a first time basis, and that playing it last means it's bad, and then when I prove that wrong and say that a game can be appreciated for reasons inspite of first time being played, seeing as many other communities infact have it the other way around where they'll recommend you play the 1st game first since they think the new games will likely eclipse it. And I am a proof of the exception to that rule, proving that rule doesn't actually mean newer games are better or else I should have put DS2, DS3 and Elden Ring above immediately after playing it.

Yes I know more people like DS3 than DS1, and I'll say it's for reasons that are objectively true. Newer Games typically bring in more people due to the simpl3 fact that... Games are more popular now than they were in the past *gasp* and a very small minority of people even bother playing past games *gasp* and Newer games are made to be like the other new games that those new fans have likely already played and gotten used to, being faster and more manageable (less emphasis on positioning and stamina management due to slower movement, limited rolls, inability to spam attack as much, all due to slower exp progression and the simple fact of stamina actually meaning something) EVERY other action game on the market is fast and twitch and spammy. Dark Souls 1 was different AND good because it wasn't that, DS3 and Elden Ring still aren't as twitchy as DMC, Bayo, etc. But they are fast enough due to abandoning stamina, and giving you far more levels than DS1 and Bloodborne. Bloodborne gets a pass for being fast due to the combat actually feeling meaningfully different and renewed, it's a nice twist on DS1 (seeing as it was basically the first game Miyazaki worked on right after DS1 it could be his only reference) while also maintaining some hallmarks of DS1 in tighter level progression, and complex level design.

DS3 is the one with bias

    Dark Souls > Demon's Souls > 2 > 3

Bloodborne and Elden Ring surpassed the series, including Demon's Souls. Coming back to Dark Souls reveals how slow it is. Dark Souls 2 is just goofy, not in a bad or good way. Bloodborne influenced DS3s mechanics too much and removed the features that made them work. Demon's Souls has a bit of novelty worth coming back to though, all the bosses have a gimmick save for a couple that make them easy, but making them a puzzle is a novelty.

      > Bloodborne influenced Dark Souls 3 too much
You’re another moron who tried to roll everything, aren’t you? Dark Souls 3 is designed around blocking. Stop trying to be an armchair game dev.

Yeah and by the time DS3 came out, every souls fan moron was so enamored by the concept of making combat even more narrow and spamming rolls "feel good because uhh... me uh move fast!! yes! yes!" like a child that just got a new toy car and needs to wave it everywhere over his head instead actually putting on the fricking track that came with it and seeing how fast it can go on its own on a proper surface for racing.

Its hard to blame Miyazaki for this, but he is a little to blame with his whole "shields engender passivity" shit in Bloodborne, and I love bloodborne combat, but souls combat should have evolved with the shield in mind and built on that.

I tend to sword and board Dark Souls games on a first playthrough. Doing that in DS3 is just a chore. Parrying in DS3 only works on a few bosses too, so rolling is generally the way to go, especially if you use a large weapon where you need to hunt for your hits.

    Dark Souls 3 has:
    >most linear world
    >least interesting level design
    >worst Fashion Souls
    >an entire half of the boss roster that's complete garbage
    >color palette that's 90% washed out grey and brown
    >most nonsensical story/lore
    >worst build variety
    >Bloodborne enemies without Bloodborne player agility
    >most "I clapped when I saw it" callback reference characters, areas, moments, etc
    What am I missing
