I still think OoT's is better, but WW is a very strong contender and easily second place in the series. It's so unfortunate the game is otherwise so tedious.

it's only tedious because of the tri force stuff at the end, which the remake solves, but yeah I agree. I think generally it's one of the best.

        >it's only tedious because of the tri force stuff at the end

I couldn't disagree more. The end section where you are actually exploring is the best part by far, it would only be tedious if you did nothing but try to play through the plot and never collected any money. Otherwise the game is way too restrictive and does way too much to make exploration as boring as possible.

Wind Waker sounds like the background music to a puppet show.

The OST was genuinely a big part of what got me through Wind Waker, it's so fricking good. I'm not sure if it's the best Zelda OST but it's damn near the top.

So much wasted potential in this game. Graphics and soundtrack so atmospheric they match OOT, but also underdeveloped dungeons, predictable exploration and extremely low difficulty.

The difficulty is actually my biggest complaint about the game, next to the lack of dungeons. Never actually minded the triforce hunt, I liked that the game actually opened up then and you could finally explore the map at your own leisure. It was just way too fricking easy, which is a shame because at the time the combat mechanics had some pretty neat ideas but the game did practically nothing with them.

always loved the little musical notes when you attacked and created a song. it's not deep but it was always a happy chime I still enjoy.

I actually consider that a negative point compared to Ocarina. OoT is filled with dynamic music that changes to match what's going on, but it's done in such a natural way that everything just fits and it doesn't draw unnecessary attention to itself. WW on the other hand has to highlight every little thing in a comically exaggerated way, and that doesn't contribute to actual immersion.

            >I liked that the game actually opened up then and you could finally explore the map at your own leisure
The lack of things to find while exploring eventually got to me. After a while you could predict more or less what you'd find by how long it took you to get to the chest. It's quite a contrast to something like ALTTP. One substantial thing per map square plus no major landmasses also got boring after a while. It was probably another symptom of them not having enough time to properly finishing it and rushing it out.

I'd fricking kill for WW to have had an extra year of development, I legitimately think it could have been the best Zelda game with all the stuff they've outright said they originally had planned and obvious lack of content in some areas that they clearly had more planned for. I still like the game but it's one of those great "What ifs" for me in terms of video games, what if Nintendo just let it bake instead of rushing it out? Frick man.

Same. It's an extra pity that IGN and others complaining stopped Nintendo from using the style for future mainline Zeldas. TP was alright in its own way although it didn't fix the issue with difficulty. There are interviews about OOT development where they said they just kept adding more and more to the game. Even MM felt pretty full and alive, although smaller in scope. Imagine a WW like that.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles has an underrated ost for sure. The theme for Shella(Amidatty and Eleanor, too!) is one of the best tracks that franchise had ever had. Str8 up chef's kiss.

/mu/'s currently in full retroactive contrarian mode and says that everything on the old Gankercore charts was actually shit, except for Loveless for some reason, so they'd probably say that the Kid Icarus soundtrack is better than the stuff on the left. Except for Loveless for some reason.

I honestly don't understand how a board on a given subject could actually end up being so bad. Like, normally the "talking about a subject on other boards ends up being better" is true here, but Ganker is so abysmal and the quality of musical discussion so much higher elsewhere that there's something horrifically exceptional about it.

Most of the old people have left and been replaced by people that only seem to care about pop music. Sharethreads used to be the lifeblood of the board and now it's mostly threads about Kpop, Wpop, or specific artists like Taylor Swift. You can tell it's changed a lot because nobody there says pleb or patrician anymore and questioning the talent of modern pop artists is often met with rabid fans aggressively defending them. God forbid you suggest Taylor Swift is even remotely bland.
