AI is a legal grey area that no one wants to touch until precedence lays some groundwork, and it's too risky to be the one setting the precedence. If AI is found to be a violation of intellectual property, then Bethesda will be in the crosshairs.

There's also likely luddite unions/groups like SAG AFTRA that will stop doing business with any company that uses/benefits from AI models.

      Based tbh.
Generative AI needs to be stopped before the entire internet becomes unusable after every single platform gets flooded by billions of pajeets making endless AI slop.

And yet it's ok that the internet has been flooded by garbage like this?

Consider the fact that somebody still needed to open image-editing software and spend a few minutes of their time to craft that shitty meme by their own hands.

Imagine how much worse things will get now that 1 billion pajeets, brazilians, africans etc can just input a few prompts into generative AI programs and "create" Youtube videos, songs, memes, and perhaps one day even things like video games and movies.

Things can get so, so much worse than you could possibly imagine right now. Imagine a future where it is totally impossible to find anything human-made on the internet, or to find accurate information about anything, because every single platform is flooded every day by millions of turd-worlders uploading nonsensical AI-generated gibberish.

I honestly think a lot of people just don't understand how bad things can get. They think "well the internet is already full of shitty content and morons, how much worse could it be?" They aren't going to realise until it's already too late.

Normies won't realise how bad it is until it starts affecting video-based platforms like Youtube and Tiktok.

There will come a day, pretty soon, when you won't be able to make any search whatsoever on Youtube without being served pages and pages of nothing but AIslop.

Like, to use a topical example, imagine trying to search "GTA 6 trailer" but instead of getting the real trailer you get a whole page of fake versions made by 'jeets using the latest AI video generator. That's what Youtube is going to be like in 1 or 2 years time, tops.

Yes, but it's going to get worse.

Imagine searching "Harry Potter" into Youtube but instead of getting any clips from the actual films, you get nothing but AI-generated fake versions.

People will care once it gets bad enough that it prevents them from accessing any of the real, human-made content.

First mover advantage. It was interesting and funny when these mashups first appeared, but the novelty wears off. Especially when they spam out sequels in the hopes they relive the glory of the first one.
Now imagine that any time there is success it spawns thousands of copycats.

Remember the AI Presidents thing? They were everywhere earlier this year. You've still got loads of morons generating new ones but they're only getting a fraction of the views. AI produces cultural trends that are so transient and fleeting, nobody even remembers them a few months later.

And Ganker says unions don't work...

        Anonymous

Some unions work, others don't. I used to work for a grocery store that was union and the union didn't do shit for us. Management was averaging our hours to avoid paying us overtime and I ended up having to get in touch with the department of labor to get that shit resolved because the union wouldn't do shit for us. My brother had a similar issue working for a unionized grocery store while he was in the national guard. His department manager kept trying to pressure him into skipping monthly training under the threat of firing him. Union refused to step in and insisted it was a personal matter between him and the manager (even though what the manager was doing was blatantly illegal and he was basically demanding my brother go AWOL).
The union for the company I currently work for is pretty great though.

          Anonymous

usually a union not working is because nobody is active in it. every worker makes up the union, elects leadership and so forth. most people just complain and never go to meetings, don't read their handbook. invariably you get paid more just for having one though

Good take my fellow commie bro. All mod authors should be paid the same: $0

        Anonymous

They genuinely should. Modding should be a hobby done out of love for a game. When you introduce paid mods all you're doing is inviting in greedy dickheads who don't actually care about the game they're modding for and are instead just looking for easy money. Imagine if mappers for Doom started charging for their speed mapping entries. Speed mapping events/competitions would go from a fun little get together that serves as a way for mappers to hone their mapping skills and bond with other members of the community to nothing more than an opportunity for greedy dickheads to make a quick and easy buck.

Also easy to get code with AI

Just have a "report AI" system in place. AI shit is insanely easy to spot in its current state. If a player suspects a mod contains AI generated content, they report it, a team reviews the report and mod, and if it does in fact contain AI generated content, they remove it. If the person who created the mod continues to upload AI generated shit, they ban them from uploading mods. If a player is abusing the report system, they ban the player from using the report system. Simple.

use tech thats trained on voices/music/code/art without licence, put it into the wild so your "non profit" gets bunch of private funding fro how impressive your tech is , but its "non profit" so you never needed to pay license for commerical use for training your models , but the whole point of releasing it is to say "well its out there now so theres no turning back" and hoping people will try to use it commercially and eat first wave of lawsuits so youre in the clear and keep getting bunch of funding from potential future benefactors of your tech while parading as a non profit. Yeah the economic crysis thats gonna come from all the white collar layoffs once this advances enough will be legendary unless theres UBI or worker protection laws put in place
