I bought one and played RE village and it's an interesting experience but vr in its current state is strictly inferior to just playing games on a monitor or tv.

I would like to say that they encountered a seemingly impossible task and did their best to solve it, though that is never good for the money, a quick R&D session to develop the bare minimum, is both cheap and exemplifies the "superiority" of the conse.

Isn't the Valve Index still $1500?

And very expensive and kind of obsolete for today's standards, I'm glad I sold it at almost full price a year later before something could malfunction, I used less than half of the money to get the Quest 2, I bought it before they increased the price

one base station is louder than the other
left stick doesn't register touch now and sometimes drifts
cable had to be replaced last year
Whatever succeeds the Index I hope will use a normal cable and have wireless capability.

it can be annoying when it's quiet ingame

I definitely don't miss them, neither the ones from the oculus rift I used to have, I really wish modern headsets had cameras on the back too though because so many games have you grabbing stuff from your shoulders or hips

Also yeah, all of what you said is part of why I sold mine, I was so afraid something could malfunction because I live in Mexico and sending stuff to repair is virtually impossible for me

I'll probably get one with my Christmas bonus. It's more a matter of whether I should get this or a Quest 3. GT7, Project Wingman and RE4 VR are my main reasons for wanting one. Whereas Quest 3 supposedly has San Andreas on the way with nothing to show for it.

I fell for the enthusiastic reviews and bought it on launch alongside a PS5 thinking we've finally got a good VR system.
It's hot garbage and collecting dust right now

it's also uncomfortable and a pain to put on every time due to how tiny the sweet-spot is.
      >actually has GOOD exclusives
      lol, lmao even
Horizon VR is unironically the worst game I've ever played while GT and RE feel fanmade mods, the experience they offer is just plain inferior when compared to a flatscreen.

even the porn is inconvenient, you have to strap a clunky thing to your head, and then you can't even tell the footage to just keep camera center where you're currently looking
      >you must change position and look down for this scene
      >now you must change position and look up for this scene
      >time to look down again
frick immersion, just let me pick one direction to look and keep me there, i don't care if it makes no sense in 3d space.

the VRified normal games makes it promising until we get some actual triple A VR titles. GT7 plays solid. RE village and RE4 are also so much more atmospheric especially with a good pair of headphones.

When at home wagies are sent meta quest 5s instead of PCs/laptops so they can attend virtual meetings so their boss can properly ride them as well as being able to potentially monitor when the wagie is taking it off when they're not on break/lunch. Oh, you mean for games? I'd say in like 2050 or so.
