It's an engine building game. You try to make a combo of cards to be able to get higher value cards that also match the current objectives. Pretty fun.

This is why I always laugh at people who say "humans are destroying the planet!!" b***h, nature can adapt. This is all a part of evolution and the planet will be fine long after humans are gone.

      Anonymous

I think it's more about destroying the planet for ourselves. If you believe the whole climate change thing the Earth is going to be a whole lot less habitable for humans

        Anonymous

Humans supposedly evolved on dry regions. The only thing that would really be affected would be coastal cities (assuming shit goes down as they say) and some bottom of the barrel morons would die.
We are the msot adaptable species in this planet and we went through worst with a lot less before. We will be fine.

          Anonymous

For sure. That's why I didn't say totally uninhabitable. there will be a lot less habitable land and what is there will be less comfortable but it's survivable. The hasher environment would probably make the loss of space irrelevant due to a smaller population

      Anonymous

Those adaptations take thousands or even millions of years to take place, meanwhile we've been dumping tons of toxic microplastics into the ocean ruining it for everyone in like a couple decades. Nature can adapt but there's no reason why we should just frick it all up with no foresight.

what was meant by this post? You think since the bird found a use for this garbage, it's okay to fill the oceans with it?

      >long after humans are gone.
      >he still thinks humans can be exterminated at this point
If something happened that was cataclysmic enough to actually kill off humanity it would have to be bad enough to scour all life from this rock. Even if the air turned to poison, the oceans became toxic and the world went cold humans would adapt and overcome it. Human ingenuity works way way faster than evolution and it's smarter too.
The biggest mass extinction event in earth's history was when half of Russia exploded into volcanic eruptions, pumping out so much carbon dioxide that it started depleting the oceans of oxygen and acidifying them while also raising global temperatures and dumping an ungodly amount of ash over the entire planet. Over 80% of marine life died and about 70% of terrestrial life went extinct as well. It took 10 million years for life to really recover from that.
I guarantee you that humans would survive that. If not planned for it'd be hellish for many generations but nothing like that just happens without scientists knowing it's coming so we'd figure something out. Most people would die, we'd probably dip under a billion in total population but that's inevitable.
The only thing that can kill humans at this point is something truly unstoppable or other humans. Mundane natural forces will not rid this planet of us.

I considered preemptively addressing this but figured my post was getting too long as it is.
          It's just the opposite.
This planet will never be rid of humans, whether anybody wants it or not. Sapience is the ultimate end result of evolution as we understand it. Apex predators dominate their environment and shape their own ecosystems but they are still subject to natural laws beyond their comprehension. A tiger can get sick and not understand what that means or a bear will be killed in a forest fire and not have a clue what was happening.
But humans can cure disease and dump thousands of gallons of water on forest fires using metal machines that fly through the air at speeds no animal has ever or will ever achieve. Evolution was just a stopgap to create us. Once you've evolved sapience then you're done evolving. There isn't anything more to do. You can solve any problem, go anywhere, do anything because you understand the world around you in ways sentient animals cannot understand in any way shape or form.
When our prey were too to kill with our hands we made tools out of rocks and wood; disposable claws and teeth that took us nothing but a little time to create. When it got too cold we looked to the animals that spent millennia evolving thick fur to cope with it and just took it for ourselves. When we wanted more food we figured out how to manipulate plants into growing where and when we wanted and we enslaved dumber animals for milk, meat and eggs.
Whatever problems are ahead of us will be no different than what we dealt with in the past. People are too comfortable nowadays but it would only take one or two generations of hard-scrabble life to shift right back into our old cavemen ingenuity.

Plenty of things could cause humanity's extinction but it would basically take the earth blowing up to eliminate even shit like bacteria, wienerroaches, etc

We need billions of people to produce enough out of those to get geniuses and highly intelligent people, and that's in peacetime. Once society breaks down you get no science

          Anonymous

m8 it has barely been 200 years since the world population hit 1 billion for the first time (1804)
While our progress has definitely sped up exponentially we had geniuses 3000 years ago, nonetheless 200. Society does not simply "break down", either, Mad Max isn't real and people do not simply permanently devolve when faced with hard times. They struggle for a while and probably do some things they'll regret but eventually they overcome, stabilize, and communities begin to form again.

            Anonymous

I don't think its a question of people devolving as much as the things we rely on day in and day out are not replicable by joe blow from down the road. The morons at Nasa already said "we lost the ability to send people to the moon"

I've only been through once and saw them outside the fire station in town. there are also some at a place called orana wildlife park on the outskirts of ChCh, and you can go inside and interact with them. They chewed on my shoes.

I will keep that in mind. I was only there for three weeks earlier this year, but would like to come back. I saw quite a bit of the northern part of the southern island but didnt delve too far south. I would like to see the other parks and probably meander around the north island separately as well.

I like it. Would there be an overarching story? or would it just be a collection of mini games essentially?

            Anonymous

I think the amount of bird species is pretty conducive to mini games. But maybe a narrative could follow a single bird that migrates around the globe, and when you are introduced to different bird species, that is how you unlock the mini games? The global migration part could have different landscapes, weather, predators etc during your travels

              Anonymous

You have to unlock different birds. You start as a sparrow, and move up to more exotic birds later on. Gameplay focused on nest building, avoiding predators, preparing for winter or migrating, and whatever else birds do. You'll be scored on how well you do as each bird.

              Anonymous

Yeah that makes sense, region lock areas and to progress you need to complete objectives in regions. you start wherever your ip or sale comes from and spread around. maybe even have certain parts of continents or even countries have to be unlocked considering the differences across places like Asia. Even though they aren't found worldwide I think the Hoopoe should be the default "main character" and if you want you can swap him out for any species you've unlocked.
