Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is legitimately the best game i've played in the last 5 years, maybe 10. I don't know why (i do know) people on Ganker didn't talk about it at all. The music is awesome, the gameplay feels great and you can basically mod in anyone. Like Fang from Goodbye Volcano High or snootgame and Garfield here.

It wasn't memory holed. We played it and moved on.

      nope
      [...]
      why?

It's jsrf but not as good. Then again that still could mean it's the best game since jsrf, like, 20 years ago. Soul died in like 2007-2009 anyway.

nah, camera on the right stick immediately improved it 70%, it has more maneuvering options and it's got Naganuma on the OST.

I love video games and while I don't use the term soulless I do think jsr clone is ssomething not really needed. I bought the game and thought the music was bad and it was really lackin

                Anonymous

Bro bro let's not exaggerate.i still have my physical version i bought the day it came out but jsrf isn't as popular as you think. Most of the fans on this board literally never even played future and used to say it sucks compared to jsr. A proper sequel is great but a complete clone? Nah

                Anonymous

Given a proper sequel wasn't on the table for 20 years this was the next best thing

                Anonymous

I think therein lies the problem. People want a sequel, not a clone. I think it was a mistake for this game to try to be JSR without the licensing. No matter how good it can be, people will just default to JSR. This is something I've noticed with like those Sonic-esque games like Spark or Freedom Planet. People won't praise the game itself as much as say "This is what Sonic should do". This game failed to have its own identity so it was bound to be left behind.

Game fukken sucks. Levels are lazily design and the movement is way too slow. Missions are boring as hell too.

      >movement is slow
if you're bad? i dont know anon i think the game has a lot of flow and is pretty fast when it wants to be
      >missions are boring
the movement makes it fun, but the missions are quite basic

      Only the ones with soul

      then you'd love this game

        Anonymous

Going 5mph might feel fast if you're born a snail, but for those with an actual frame of reference, frick the game is slow as shit even compared to JSRF, and JSRF wasn't even that fast even when you were boosting.

          Anonymous

THUG 2 feels faster just simply skating around in the most basic manner possible. With BRCF you gotta do glitches to remove the speed cap in order to not feel sluggish any time outside of corner boosting.

Granted, the game actually does become fun and faster than this with uncapped speed, movement plus, and wall kick, but then it's not exactly real BRCF anymore. It's what the game SHOULD'VE been.

Only like 1/3 of the soundtrack is good, the rest doesn't fit the game very well. Like way to tonally different from what's happening on screen. I came in expecting funky fresh beats, I got mostly lo-fi beats to chill to. Also as much as I hate Guitar Vader and Super Brother, the game also needs some guitar driven punk/jrock.

I think it was a really impressive first attempt for an indie studio and extremely fun on it's own merits, but it unquestionably had some flaws
1/ the police cutscenes just constantly interrupted the flow
1.5/ dealing with the police wasn't always fun, more could've been done to integrate them into combos turning them into a rewarding "hardmode" instead of a nuisance
2/ it was too easy to rack up score infinitely, highscores were more a matter of time than effort
3/ the story felt half assed, the climax had potential to be kino but I couldn't fully enjoy it due to how budget it felt
4/ the 3 trick buttons all behaving the same and just requiring you to alternate them occasionally wasn't that interesting
Other than that pretty fun game

They should've let you body surf or spin on cops, I don't think they could do much with the bigger enemies

        Anonymous

If the big enemies had static placement they could work as unlockable shortcuts in the level, but that seems like it'd be hard to make look natural.

Rollerdome is a much better evolution for the genre and much more fun because of it. Nothing stops you from going fast in rollerdome. it's not the same thing since tricks aren't difficult to pull off but the sense of speed is much better and that's what counts.

There's just not much to do after completion. I don't really care for the post game characters, so why would I continue playing? Tagging 100%? When then I'll still have to constantly go to the toilet to avoid the police? Nah frick that. Game was great but the last chapter was obviously rushed.

I did enjoy it due to nostalgia but the design overall is lacking. Story, level, character. The better parts feel like straight up copies from JSR/F and the worse parts feel out of place. The music is very good but there are some "how the frick did this get here?" ones. The only thing that really bothered me is the level design, too many empty spaces where nothing goes on. It would have been better if they went with the constraints of JSRF and built levels vertically, not just horizontally.

Like another anon said it was good for a couple hours but just felt like JSRF with less content or even difficulty not like JSRF was super hard, but it felt like it was challenging you sometimes. The music was good but was like limited to like 2 songs an area, which made them more repetitive. The multiple styles of transport was cool but lackluster in delivery. It needed more at the end of tpshe day
